Hello! Thanks for watching this week's video. Next, check out the Hello Deer Christmas Stitch-a-Long FAQ video here: th-cam.com/video/8cg2G--EVkY/w-d-xo.html Thanks and see you soon, Sally x
Thanks for this video. I'm an experienced linen stitcher, but my philosophy is that you can always learn something newm and I did. Saved the video to watch again just in case I forgot something.
I will give linen another try. My eyes are not so great and it was very frustrating when I tried before. Steel city stitchers are always great to watch. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thanks ladies!!!! I am an aida stitcher but always wondered about stitching on linen!! With your explanation - it looks so much easier than I thought! I just might give it a try!
Thank you. I’ve been cross stitching on and off for 35 yrs but I’ve never stitch on linen or evenweave. I’ve been inspired by all the beautiful new to me fabrics I’ve seen since watching Flosstube. Wish me luck. ☺️ 💕
Wow. What a great tutorial. I’m new to cross stitch and have been using Aida fabrics. I’ve been intimidated by linen because of the little holes but don’t enjoy the stiffness of Aida. Your explanation was clear and easy to understand. Thanks. I’ll be watching future FT.
Thank you so much! I have a linen bookmark kit and the pattern isn’t done very well, so that didn’t help. But after years of cross stitching, stitching large projects, I had never done anything on linen. Especially not a 28 ct. so thank you for demonstrating this!!
What exact linen were you using in your demonstration? Some of the linens that I have tried to stitch on are very loosely woven so the fabric is very floppy and it makes it extremely difficult to get my stitches even. In addition, several of them have had woven threads that were pretty uneven making it difficult to figure out where to stitch so that the stitches are even and there were a lot of slubs throughout the fabric which again makes it difficult for a new linen stitcher to work with. In very short fashion I became extremely frustrated and overwhelmed with the whole idea of stitching on linen and gave up and went back to my tried and true 25 count lugana fabric. The fabric shown in the video looks more even and maybe a bit stiffer (i.e., similar to lugana) which might make it an easier fabric for someone new to linen or who at the very least is interested in trying it.
I am new to your program. Thank you so much for teaching the different counts on Linen. I have wanted to try linen, but was not sure if I could see the holes. I could see them on uour video. Now I know I can try it. Will you, or have you taught evenweave?
I was looking everywhere on TH-cam for this!! Thank you for the detailed explanation...i have a 25 count evenweave which i started to cross stitch many years ago using a pattern from a magazine. I was doing 3 strands of floss over one (if that makes sense). This was my first time with evenweave and a long time before internet was the norm so i just followed the written instructions which were very basic!! I really want to complete this cross stitch but as its so intricate, I was wondering if there were any tips you had, esp since im straining to see the holes??? Thanks
@CaterpillarCrossStitch you're welcome, your channel is great! And yes I'll definitely look into getting a magnifier. Aside from this I actually showed my work to a craft shop and realised I actually was stitching over 2 and not 1!!!🤣🤣🤣 ....so it definitely helps to get a fresh look at something from someone else !!!
Help, I am an older person who doesn’t see as good as I used to. What hints do you suggest to help me see better,mi have a magnifying, lighted lamp, and a magnifying thing that goes around my neck, can I get some suggestions that works for you. Thanking you in advance for your help. Jody
Hi. My pattern instructions don’t indicate if I should do 2 over 2 or what…so, I have no idea how to stitch on Dublin 25 count. Any suggestions? I’m working on Bucilla project 41333 Hardanger House.
It’s the more to get to another spot that gets me - not the one row of stitches - counting to stitch above or below on the chart omg the counting to get there - think I’ll just stay at 14 count
Hi, thank you so much for watching! There is a general guide that size 24 needle is used for 14ct Aida or 28ct evenweave/linen; size 26 is used for 16ct Aida or 32ct evenweave/linen and size 28 is used for anything above 18ct Aida or 36ct evenweave/linen. This is just a general guide though, some people prefer to use a smaller needle than recommended and some bigger. I'd recommend to try the smaller needles and see what suits you best! Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Hi, I enjoy all of the videos You do but I want to point out that when You say 1over 1 or 2over2 it actually means over 1thread or over 2 threads it’s not the holes that you’re going over! Thank You for Sharing!

12/6/2020: Thank you. Aloha from Hawaii. Never stitched on LINEN or EVENWEAVE. This video was GREAT.
Just started a 32 count evenweave. This is just what I needed. Thank you
So pleased that you found this useful!

Thanks ladies for showing this. I have always used Aida cloth for counted cross stitch since I taught myself 30 years ago.
Thank you so much, you really took the anxiety out of learning how to cross stitch on linen and you showed me something new ... The pin stitch!
Thank you for showing this! I would like for you to show more of the pin stitch. I've been trying to learn that.
I love the steel city stitchers! I’ve recently started watching their TH-cam and I’ve binge watched so many episodes of their floss tube 😂
Thanks for watching. They often do guest tutor videos so please subscribe to see more soon!
I've only used 14 ct. Aida for 7 months. Thank you for this. So much easier than I imagined. Now I'm not afraid to try linen!
I enjoyed this so much. Thank you.
This video tutorial is just fantastic and for me, the best tutorial for beginning linen stitching I have found. Thank you!! 🖤

Getting ready to try stitching on linen so thanks for this. And my mind is blown by the loop method!! Definitely trying that too!
The pin stitch looks really easy. Thank you for the close up!
Thanks so much for this excellent video. I've never stitched on linen so this is a great introduction for me. I'm excited to go try it for myself!
Go for it, let us know how you get on!

Thank you for watching! So pleased to hear this helped!
Hi SCS friends! Thanks for the tutorial. I am looking to venture from aida into evenweave-I feel like I am now becoming a grown-up stitcher.
Thank You for sharing this .
I only do 14 ct Adia. Always want to do linen. That will be my next project

I’m so novice and this video was really helpful! Subscribing and joining your Facebook group 😊Looking forward to learning with you!
Thank you - no mention of “ lean against the post “ ? I’ve been using Aida and am interested in moving to evenweave.
Well done on finishing your second piece! Thanks for watching!

:) Thank you because I was stumped looking at my 25 count easy grid having only used Aida. 😅
So your pin stitch start has your tail in the front?

Really good lighting will help and possibly a magnifier :)

do you use magnification ?
Can and pattern for Aida be stitched on linen to make it smaller?
Yes it can. A higher count will make the pattern smaller or you can stitch over 1 instead of 2
@@caterpillarcarla6240 Thank you so very much for answering my question, I am looking forward to trying linens

what brand of fabric, is it jobelan or another brand?
how do you know what size needle to use with the different cloths?

You don’t use a hoop?
You don’t have to 😀
Do you grid linen or even weave?
It’s personal choice, but you can if you want to yes 😊

Just found your channel. Love the content but can't hear you too well.
