This video is using the studio version bass keyboard part except for the intro. The intro is from the Devotional version. If you go back and listen to the bass keyboard part of the devotional version you will be able to hear that there is a "completely" new bass keyboard part in there from the end of the intro to the end of the song. Make sense?
Alan didn't do these on his own and he didn't write any of it. He took parts from remixes others did. I just don't see how you can idolize Alan but not give Martin any credit. I know I don't see this many people on Recoil videos idolizing Alan: if he's so great, surely you'd be more interested in his music than his work on Martin's songs. And yet that isn't what happens. Alan is fantastic, but this has been like 26 years of a huge segment of DM fans acting like he was the best part of the band and he really wasn't. He was great for what he did but gets too much credit and Martin doesn't get enough. They've been together twice as long without him as they were with him, and if you don't think Wrong, Heaven, In Chains, Precious, Poison Heart, etc. Etc. are worth listening to, keep telling yourself that. But why isn't Recoil more successful than modern Depeche if your opinion is accurate? I just hate seeing a great band trashed over the nearly 3 decades old vanity and stress of a former member.
During the making of the devotional album, martin after submitting the lyrics and samples is basically hands off. Even alan wilder said that while he and the producer was spending 18 hours a day on the studio martin and andy were out partying. And of course dave was mostly bummed out of his mind.
You'll be suprised if you only knew who's the real creator of the songs of depeche mode martin gore doesn't do much not in music or songwriting.. one day the masses will know the truth about the band and who is mister depeche mode the real creater behind all depeche mode songs an songwriting..peace and love to all fans of DM...
No, this is a tourmix especially made for the devotional tour 1993/94 as backing track, made by Alan and Flood! Other songs were also reworked for this reason. Alan did all this while the others (especially Gore) were lying around somewhere! No wonder that Alan had enough of doing most of the work, but getting little recognition for it! The result can be seen since about 15 years, the productions of the albums become more and more arbitrary and worse, recently even the songs of Gore became more miserable!
This is my all time favourite DM song, they didn’t play this at all when I saw them live during the devotional tour, they substituted it with Halo which was my favourite at the time. So thankful for this studio version.
