We're probably never going to know how he has these files other than some strange limited edition he owned in the 1990s. He'd have to have access to the device playing the live version of the song in the background in order to succeed at extracting specifically this. It only happened at the highest quality in 1993 and most Depeche Mode fans are only adolescents and aren't old enough to have found this file.

original recordings, some are more "easy" because leaked multi-tracks, easy to take out the voice, but others, like lives versions are more tricky.
