This has been the best explanation I came across for tires! Thanks! I’m looking to get some tires for my Jeep Wrangler. When you mentioned ‘LT’ and ‘P’ is there much of a difference between the two in performance if I plan to do light towing? Like pulling a motorcycle trailer or small camper.
thanks for breaking this down, was looking for a wheel cover and they asked what was the dimensions, I said DUH, stupid me. So I watched your video and low and behold, I got it. WOW, would have never guessed this in a million years. Thank you so much!!
So my dad got these 225/75r17 Dynapro ATM tires, two of them and we put them on the truck but I couldn't find other ones the same size so I went with 245/70r17 Dynapro AT2 what's the difference and should I keep them at 80psi or lower like 75psi
Would 245/55/R19 be compatible with 2019 CRV? Iam changing the rims and the tire. The "specialist" suggested I can go with either 235/55/R19 or that can even try 245 a whole 10mm more thicker in width. Does he know what he's talking about? I actually would like to go with the 245 for I was told it would make for a more comfortable drive? Any help would be appreciated 🙏🏼
The tires on my ford ranger say 215/65R16 and they look small as hell... are there bigger tires that will fit on these rims? Or do I need bigger rims?...
Question; have a 1997 GCM 1500 Savana, project van. Stock rims are 15x7, running LT235/75R15 currently. I would like to get a mild custom look with a fatter back tire, a little wider footprint, I would change rims, not planning on keeping the stock aluminum alloy. I don’t want to create any daily driver headaches just add some “cool”. What suggestions for rims and tires, prefer all terrain in back. Any suggestions for the front as well….thanks !!
Lets say i have a tire size of 235/65R 16. Can i use a smaller size tire for example 225/60R 16. Or a different size tire. Can some1 help please and thank you
I bought regular 295 tires for our truck. My husband said they should have been LT295. Can we still use these safely to pull our 28' toy hauler without toys in it? Ford f-250 4x4 diesel, 2016
Hi mate, I have changed my vehicle Isuzu d max 2013 tyre and rims (215 55 r15 to 255 60 r18) since then rear brake stated making noise whenever stop the car. Brake pads are checked and are in condition, unable to understand what cause the issue? This vehicle has shoe drum brake on the rear? Any advice
I have used the aspect ratio calculation to get the sidewall size on a few Tyree but when I actually measure the tyre it's nowhere near. Why would this be?
Kudos to the video very well made and no bullshit at all Straight to the point... I wanted to know if Vehicle manufacturers need to follow these specified tyre sizes while manufacturing a vehicle or they can dictate a new tyre size as and when they like..
Question; can I put a higher sidewall tire on my truck? They are now 275/55/20. I’d like a higher tire with a little more aggressive tread than the all-season radials that are on it. For 2019 F150. Recommendations on any tire to check out? I live in Northwestern Pennsylvania, snow and mud…..
So I have a question. I have a LT 275/65R20 on my pickup. I am getting new wheels and my tires I have now rub on my fender wells, but not like crazy. I want a 20x9 wheel and a LT 285(because I’m getting 1 inch wider) /55R 20. So would that fit and not rub?
The explanation overall was accurate and clear for the most part but it contained a piece of misrepresented information that I am surprised no one in the comments has mentioned. Considering his clarity in explaining the other codes, I was surprised to hear the presenter repeatedly using the somewhat unspecific term "wheel-size" (did he mean diameter or circumference?) when referring to the wheels that should be used for a particular tyre. It didn't help either that in his diagrams, the circumference was was highlighted instead of the wheel's diameter. Thus, to clarify using one of his examples - 265/70R17 - the number 17 represents the diameter in inches of the wheel the tyre is designed to fit, and not its circumference.
Can you fit any tire dimensions, for as long as it's the right rim size? For example, for a car with 165/70R14 stock tyres, will a 185/70R14 tyre fit? I understand from the explanations in the vid, the 185/70 will have more width, and taller too.
Question I want to change the WHEELS and Tires on my 2017 F-150 it came with 17 in factory wheels I want to put 20 or even 22 wheels on the rear, but keep the 17 in wheels on the front My Question is will the truck have any issues with this setup
James Pratt it will. If you have sensors it will turn on. Because back wheels are bigger you might see a huge difference in driving comfortability. I read somewhere that bigger size can mean less mpg and other things. It’s best to keep all the same or maybe just the tire change a bit. And since you want bigger, you might have to lift it I had to lift might truck 3 inches because new wheels wouldn’t fit right. The front ones would scrape when turning and back ones would have no space. It’s all good now though
@@saulramirez1093 What about, say, 205/60-15, on the Front and 235/75-15, on the Rear, on a '99 2WD Shitbox Ford Ranger? Thanks, for helping the other person. Help me, please?
Ok. Now I think I understand. I have two sets of tires, one winter and one summer. The winter tires are 225/65R-16. Summer tires are 225/70R-16. Since the middle number is about the sidewall width, I should be able to use either set on my vehicle right? The first set of numbers are what's on my vehicle now.
I have a 2006 honda pilot with tire size 235 60 17 And I have 2011 honda pilot with tire size 245 65 17 Since the rims on both pilots is size 17 , can i swing tires with out a problem or risky anything ?!
The only thing you are "risking" is a slight difference in Fuel Mileage, perhaps. If you look up the 2006/2011 Pilot; the 2006 has slightly better Fuel Mileage. Neat!
Right. He converts metric into flotation then doesn’t convert flotation into metric. I assume the reason behind this is this is a video directed towards an off-road audience of which wheels are mostly annotated in flotation.
Once upon a twice pipe i was stuck, in da Mud and in order to escape the situation, i let Air, out, the rear ("drive") Tires. Just keep in mind that if the tires are too wide, when driving, the tires could scrape or rub against the inside of the fender for example. Particularly the front tires as you make turns.
@@delhiwala9875 Not the bumper, but the fender. Specially the front tires when you make a turn. I seriously don't think it will make much of a difference between 215 and 225. The tires are just going to be a little bit wider.
The intro is what made me stay and watch the full video! Lol
Thanks!

The first 10 seconds of this video is a TEXTBOOK definition of a good video intro.
Perfect explanation without any BS, Great Job, I subscribed
I'm glad you did this video. You made understanding the math for metric to inches on tire sizes easier to understand.
By far the best TIre explination video I have ever seen!!!
Thank you from Alaska!
Bruh! This is a great teaching tool because you explained it visually, literally, and mathematically. 🥇
Glad you think so! Thanks for the compliment!

There are a ton of videos and your the only one that speaks real English 🤣 thank u
Can thumbs up twice? They only YT channel that clearly understands what the layman doesn't but needs to know. Thank you!
FINALLY! Someone explained the aspect ratio between side wall and tire width. Most just say, "This is the aspect ratio." What the HE!! good is that?

What does the C mean would be my question? Thanks!

"C"="Coal" Coloured
"B"="Black" Coloured.
"A"="Asphalt" Coloured.
So for example 315/75R16, so the 315 is in mm and the 16 is in inches? Haha you have got to love these conventions... not confusing at all.
Hands down, the best intro on you tube.
What is the 7/-16 121L size?

So i cant replace my 285s for 265s?
