*insulting to MANY fans, I'd have to correct. ^^ I mean, I am a Liara romancer, and I still thought that was horrible. That point at the end of the Rannoch mission where Tali takes of the mask would have been one badass moment to show her face. Or in her final romance scene, I mean, she even says her body adapted, so why not show her without the suit entirely? I mean, think of the work they must have put in DIANA ALLERS' model, what the hell?!

I think it's just more along the lines of relatable morphology as discussed in that side conversation in ME2. Maybe the Protheans had a hand in that. I don't think there's any active mechanism like mental influence going on. Plus they're such a huge power in the galaxy that it's hard to really see them as "alien" since they're all over the place.

I love that part too. It’s meant to emphasise how the Asari’s whole thing is being the ideal attractive beings to everyone. You can kind of see how Turians and Salarians also relate to the Asari appearance (however of course, us as humans see Asari as looking exactly like us. I believe there is some psychology / pheromones behind it, in lore).
I sometimes wonder, if I met an Asari irl would it confuse me because I’m gay but would their strong psychological effects still make me attracted? Not sure

In Latin the letter A is feminine and the ancient Greeks and Romans named their daughters after their last name but added an a at the end and if you noticed that the goddess her name was Athame possibly named after Athena or Athens now if you look at the goddess Athene in the temple area you notice shields and swords similar to the Romans this leads me to believe that the Asari are based off of ancient Romans which is why some systems in asari space are named after greek mythology like gorgon

Don't take this as an insult but you seem more like a person who prefers fast paced gameplay instead of games that have dialogue like ME1-2 and Skyrim. I didn't like ME3 simply because of the dialogue, in the others games there were 3-6 choices of dialogue, while in ME3 there were at most 3. I do know Bioware was rushing ME3 out the door so it wasn't as good (in my opinion) but there were points in which there were tons of just small fixes that they could make in at most a day.

If only they WERE "hot"! Not one of them in any of the games ever struck me as suiting the visual of them all somehow having the reputation of this impossible standard of exotic beauty. Facially, they always seemed terribly bland and generic. Not entities which would inspire galactic lust and adoration.
The hair should really have been made a little longer, maybe copying the look from the film, 'Species'. It ended up being similar, but a lot more masculine.

I didn't say I wanted anything, I was just replying to someone who said we took the game too seriously. I loved ME3. It's universally better than the other ME's, and the only reason it's not the favorite of every player here is because of the ending.
ME2 was a dating sim, you have to make everyone happy and do their little quest or you get fucked over.

Well to have the best experience in a game, you have to invest. I could run and gun on every game and not give two shits, but then the campaign would have no meaning. In order to get that special entertainment from a game, you have to invest, or else you're just playing Call of Duty in a different setting with different graphics.

The Quarians are a race of masked aliens who have remained masked for most of the 3 games. When they "unmasked" one of your squadmates (who is a quarian) to the people who romanced her, instead of making a 3D model of the alien (who is essentially the face of the entire race to the player) they just photoshoped a stock image of a lady.
This was seen as insulting to some fans.
    Hope this clarifies any confusion.

Why is it that when anyone says "no offense" or "don't take this the wrong way", they really mean "fuck you"? Yes, it's only a game, but it's a damn good game from a franchise which people have invested hundreds of hours in. To get a kick in the balls like that pisses us off. You clearly haven't gotten truly invested in this game, so you have no idea how the fans feel.

Shadow383 is very right, but he missed one thing. As an audience, we need to relate to the aliens in some way...making them look more like us is an easy way to do that. Notice that there are no Hanar main characters...they are hard to relate too, because they look SO alien. I mean, they don't even have a face!

The weird thing is that some of them do look like they were based off black women in the artwork.
But the real reason is that all of the voice actresses are white. I think if they had cast a black or an asian woman as Liara, that would show in their facial structure.

Yes, asari can make babies with any species in the universe. the only reason they even need another person is so that their child's DNA is slightly randomized otherwise they would all look the same. Also, as they only have one "part" configuration, most people would say they are genderless.

Well, the Y chromosome is smaller than the X chromosome. So genetically men have fewer genes than women (or so I´m told) than women. But as for the number of chromosomes both men and women have the same amount. Namely 46, 23 from your mother and 23 from your father. Any other number is a mutation.

Liara isn't worth it, honestly. She horribly breaks your heart in the 2nd one, and even though she tries to re-connect in the 3rd one, it's like she expects you to forgive her and stuff. She's a horribly childish person, since she's only 103 years old.

i wouldnt even say they have a gender! which would make them.. straight.. because.. they're attracted to something they themselves are not?.. im not sure.. but ey, can two asari make a baby together? XD or do they need dna or whatever from another race?..

Well everybody has their preferences and even without the ending controversy ME3 was felt rushed and all the conversations were dumbed down. I loved ME3 but to say the ending is the only reason it isn't everyone's favorite an exaggeration.

They are, it's not like they suddenly became another species because their mating functions wrong. xD
That's like saying a human with dwarfism is no longer a human because they have dwarfism. Totally untrue.

I can't wait to play the third one -- well... they say the ending is horrible, but... :(

Okay, I am totally not shitting you here. Casey Chudson and Hack Walters literally locked themselves in a room and came up with the shitty endings without any word in from the other writers and quality control at Bioware.

liara says that asari don't have a gender. whenever they speak of themselves using words like 'she' or 'her', i would think it's just the translation software that sheperd uses making it easier to understand for other species.

Of course messing with the face will no longer make them attractive--that's because you're actually going to make them look alien. We evolved to be attracted to humans, not sci-fi aliens lol.

No other race evolved from apes or the planetary equivalent. The Salarians are amphibian, near as I can tell the closest earth creature comparable to the Krogan are Rhinos or Hippos

In romantic languages (i.e. Spanish, Italian, etc), feminine names and titles typically end in a's. The Asari are an all female race so it just sorta fit I guess...

One less chromosome?? I´m pretty sure all humans (well, at least a human who doesn´t suffer from chromosome abnormality, like Turner or Down syndrome) have 46 chromosomes.

    Lame excuse for lame design.
You don't NEED to look vaguely human in order for the audience to "connect" with you.
In fact, In Star Trek - most of the sentient races are almost identical to humans but that doesnt mean it's easier for us to get emotionally invested in them more then....say Garrus or Legion.
And personally, Blasto the hanar spectre would be a much more "relateable" character then Ash or Liara

Morinth, Tevos, Liselle, Mallene, Nyxeris. But you are right, though I think that is clever as it's similar to English female names, lots of them end in A.

I still believe that we haven't seen how Asari actually look like. Every Species seems to think that Asari look like indredibly attractive versions of their own females. I expect them to be mindbending creatures... -> th-cam.com/video/1e21E9CW1BQ/w-d-xo.html

My guess: general rule for names, ends in 'a', female, ends in 'o', male. Allows you to make crazy names but flag it as female.
