Lynsey, I am sure traveling down memory lane was heartfelt. My favorite box was the leather gloves. I can vividly recall the night my Aunt Nancy coming home from months traveling around the World. She and my Mother were up for hours, laughing and enjoying cocktails sorting out bags of leather gloves, she went crazy in Florence. So keeping up the family tradition of leather gloves and of course, handbags, I am so proud to report, I was trained well, at a young age 😂😂. Keep up the good work, wish I lived closer to you to shop your garage sale!
Isn’t it funny, I remember my grandma having the most beautiful gloves and hats and my mom passed that love on to me. But I do believe we are a dying breed 😘
I feel your pain trying to decide what to let go and what to keep. Looking back on the choices we made when selling our house and mostly everything in it, so many decisions were made in haste. We were in a time crunch to move from Missouri to Florida and so many items still had to go into storage. In the end, I almost cry at the wonderful collections I let go thinking these things wouldn’t fit the Florida style. I have managed to balance my love of vintage and traditional furniture with touches of corals and shells, old Florida MCM pieces! I have new collections now that have been so fun to find! As you say, it’s hard to part with your treasures but it’s been even more satisfying to create new ones! You always inspire me and I look forward to news about your house in France….🇫🇷
Oh boy, you absolutely nailed it, I always think “oh I can’t sell that because I know I can use it” I can talk myself out of selling half of it if I try 🙄I’m my own worst enemy. I will take your words and think about all the new collections I can start ❤️
I wish I was by you so I could go to your garage sale! I'm a bit of a dish hoarder and I would snap up those Christmas plates and the lovely pink and gold.
I know I would have a hard time parting with so much of what you have collected over the years. It’s all so lovely. I remember wearing kid gloves to church on Sundays. Good memories! Wish I lived closer to attend your garage sale! Have a wonderful week!
Lynsey, The task ahead of you is challenging but I hope it goes as smoothly as possible and that your treasures find new homes where they will be loved and well cared for. Almost 20 years ago, I was expecting to make a cross-country, 3,000 mile, move, all was planned, and a self-initiated job transfer was in the works...I sorted, purged and sold so much, primarily after I got the bid for how much it would cost to move everything!! Well, the organization initiated a job freeze and my relocation did not happen. Do I have regrets about what was sold?? Yes, with a few pieces of very beautiful (but heavy) pieces of furniture. But I comfort myself knowing they are somewhere bringing joy to new owners.
Precious. I remember having some of the hats going to church ,gloves as well. I have made shadow boxes with ol d vanities, jewelry and gloves, and hankies, all vintage.
Pausing in at BowTie discussion. My brother wears bow ties often. The more colorful, the better 🥰 He is a spiffy dresser and gets compliments and 2 snaps up for his style !! 🤌🏻🤌🏻
It was fascinating looking through your collections it is really hard getting rid of things and I know what you mean about buying them again ! My late husband and I used to collect then did some buying and selling I also collected sewing items and embroidered cloths which I used to make items to sell when we retired I sold a lot of the cloths, buttons etc just keeping my favourites but I have to admit I have bought more since ! Good luck with the clearout 😊
I'm a 'little' late. 😁 Those items are so precious! I know it's hard to let them go. I love the satin and leather 🧤 and the mirrors. Parting with them I know is difficult but I see it as part of the circle of thrifted items. They will now go back into someone else who loves vintage and thrifted items. I'm so glad you're having a special private sale for people you know will cherish those items. The way I look at it is you will be parting with some items to make room for.more thrifted items in France. I hope there are no more delays or setbacks regarding the 🏠 🗼😊
I love collecting items which you just cannot find anymore. I am doing the same thing as you, since I will be moving soon and just cannot take everything. I will be planning a garage as well and use Marketplace for some items, eventhough I find it totally annoying. Good Luck with your purge.
I too am moving this year into our new built home up on our hill. Since we are doing the entire home in French country decor, there is a lot to get rid of. My joy is donating my things to our church Compassion Center that sells used items. That blesses me to donate 😊 No need to price and spend time selling it all, just drive up and they come to car and take it. Such a peace as I drive off from those things no longer needed. I heard the FlyLady say recently "I am not the curator of my families items". I loved that. I too have some antique hats and a purse from my grandma, I will pass on to my nieces ❤ someday
Love all the vintage hats bags gloves etc ,I used to have a lot of them when we had our antique shop .Ive kept a few pieces .We live in Florida but my husband bought me a vintage fur coat and hat to wear if ever we go anywhere in the winter .
It is hard to part with vintage items that have been loved and well taken care of by you. The hope is that someone else will do the same, but there are no guarantees. Good luck with the decision making. 😊
What to keep and what to move on? Such a hard decision I’m like you love old things and the vintage hats and handbags bring floods memories. Would there be a textile museum that these items could eventually be housed if your family are not as like minded, they need to be preserved for history.
You have beautiful collections ❤. Question the Beatrix Potter collection as well as whatever else you are selling in children books would you consider shipping to Montreal? Let me know if it’s a possibility. Thanks. 🙏👍👏🤗💕❤️
It’s like looking through my things.I have got rid of things and ended up buying the same thing again.I love your mums square plate.xxx🐝🐝🐝
Honestly! Great minds think alike 🥰but fools never differ😯

You have so many beautiful things! I only wish this was a garage sale I could make it to! Lol
Me too!!

What you are doing is so very hard. I'm sure a lot of your precious items will go to loving home to be appreciated.
I hope so!
I wish I was by you so I could go to your garage sale! I'm a bit of a dish hoarder and I would snap up those Christmas plates and the lovely pink and gold.
Oh if I could invite you all and know my treasures would be loved as I do 😉

It’s funny I said , it would be perfect if I could invite you all and make sure all my treasures where passed on to kindred spirits 😍
I love this series. Keep them coming!
I feel like it’s a pale imitation of your wonderful collections. 😊
I think of my poor son who will have to deal with all my junk when I'm gone. There are plenty of people who like vintage.
Yes your right 😊

shadow boxes are the perfect way to display them 😊

I love to see a man in a bow tie or wearing a hat, they stand out in a crowd…….for all the right reasons

@@GMAlisa oh wow I have never owned a new build that’s very exciting, I wish we had somewhere I could donate like your church, that sounds awesome ❤
Excited for your move to France sweet lady!!!
Thank you so much so am I 🥰
Loved seeing all the vintage items. I collect linens and too much china myself. Hope you are able to keep all your favorites.
That's the plan! I have my cabinets with my special collections they will definitely be coming with me 😁

Yes absolutely right, whatever I don’t keep I will re home with someone who appreciates them 😊
❤❤❤
😘
Maybe you could clear out two or 3 rooms and have a living estate sale. People exspect to pay more at estate auctions. You have some lovely items.
Oh that’s a brilliant idea
❤

Yes I absolutely would. Email me at lynseysrecycledbliss@gmail.com and we can set it up 😊
I see a possible wedding venue business at one of your barns in France ?
That was the chateau dream 😴
Please toss the stuff that's been mouse infested. Mice urinate on every surface they touch.
Oh I did I threw the hat and a fur coat and I wasn’t really sure it freaks me out
It is so hard to downsize…I’ve been trying for a couple years….i feel your struggle. 🤍🤍🤍
lol we should start a support group 😉
