    Since watching this video I have purchased 7 of these lights for friends and family. Just sent another. There may be newer models but I love this light.

    I’ve had this for 3 years on my keychain and it’s still hasn’t failed me yet. It is the best keychain flashlight out there. I’ve dropped it numerous times and it has gotten wet a lot the black has worn out in spots from running against keys and it keeps working 100%. The 5 lumen setting is perfect for when you want to light up in a dark house or room without disturbing others and the bright is pretty bright will light up a whole room. It will also blind someone if shined in the eyes so you can use it for tactical purposes if need be.

    Have owned a Tool AAA since 12/2015 and it has been a great light. One problem is that the tail switch rubber has split after about two and a half years of use. It still works and I am still using it. The rubber is still there...just split now.

    AAAAhhhh it has the rear clicky! That is the one thing I never liked about keychain flashlights is they all seem to have the twist bezel. Thanks for the review!

      +Country Prepper i don't mind the twist bezel on the really small ones but this one is a nice light having it.

    I've had one for over a year, and I love it. They also run on lithium 10440s quite happily BTW, but the high mode gets hot fast. Big improvement in brightness on Medium though, without too much heat. I find it really well made and pleasing to use, and you can lock it off by twisting the barrel, so it's the best of both worlds. I also have the Ti3 which I prefer for keychain duties as it's a bit smaller, but the Lumintop is my favourite as I prefer a clicky switch for one-handed head torch use.

    The Lumintop Tool AAA has been my EDC flashlight for at least two years now: small, robust, uses a battery that can be found in most convenience stores, can be clipped to the brim of a hat, has several brightness settings, has a tail swotch, and waterproof. I have tried countless flashlights in the past, but this is the best I have tried so far.

      Will it handle a rechargeable 10440 3.7 volt battery? I recently decided to risk it and see if a few of my AAA lights will handle it without blowing, even though they were only advertised to be compatible with regular 1.5 volt batteries. So far I've been brave enough to test 3 different brands with a fully charged EBL INR 10440 (350mAh) and they all shine so much brighter, without getting too warm. I highly recommend EBL INR batteries

    Great review, but you are not going to convince me without a Ti-3 vs Lumitop AAA comparison video... you know how that goes. "Once you open a can of worms...". Please consider. You are great at reviewing gear... a comparison video would be very appreciated by many, I'm sure. I just got two Ti-3s for my son and son-in-law (X-mas). I still have a daughter who is EDC and outdoorsy minded... maybe she would find this a useful tool. Thanks Ben for the time you spend on reviewing gear for the rest of us. Nice little flashlight. I'm looking for a good edc during my deployment and I was leaning towards the Olight S1 Baton series. Would you recommend this or that one? Or does something else stand out. I'll be working at night so a moonlight mode would nice and I like the idea is the magnetic bottom to use.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +William Whittle the magnatic is actually sort of a pain and I only use it around the house (stuck to the fridge). Decide on the size/ battery and light output you want and then get back to me. Take a look at Nitecore for a good EDC. Don't get me wrong this one is awesome and i Carry it in my pocket daily but it isn't that bright.

  • @DinnerForkTongue
    @DinnerForkTongue 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're right, Ben, for a keychain light it does better work than the Ti3. I can certainly acknowledge that the glowy bezel, the chicky switch interchangeable with the non-clicky tailcap, and the optional magnetic end add groundbreaking versatility. I can sure tell that the Tool is a straight upgrade to the Olight i3S series, maybe even the i3E.
    However, for me, this light doesn't have the Ti3 beat at all. My use of the Ti3 is not as a keychain item, but almost exclusively as an emergency backup torch, and in that sense, long runtimes are vital... and the Ti3's firefly dominates that field without a true contestant. Plus, I haven't seen enough reviews on Lumintop torches to truly believe their stated runtimes; high and low are reasonable, but a multi-mode flashlight with a medium mode of 20-something lumens for 10 hours is in line with 1xCR123 lights of the present day, not 1xAAA ones. Bit hard to take those numbers to heart without a grain of salt.
    In a similar note, the backup torch is a light that I'm most likely to pull out in pitch darkness while stressed out over more than having lost or burned through my primary light, so it's good that it's a continuous ramp up instead of rollercoaster-like as this Tool does. Don't want to dazzle myself on accident because I forgot to hit the activation method twice.
    Plus, the Ti3's firefly mode is so comfortable to read with :-3
    I do believe these two are equal, on the other hand, and MANY people will be supremely satisfied with this one, especially the common and conventional ones that need no more than keychain lights as their primary on-body light sources, a bill that I happen to not fit for unpleasant reasons.
    Any chance of a comparison video between these two mini-monsters, Ben?

      +Gunner193 thanks so much for the comment, the ti3 is a great light for sure and everything you said makes sense. I gave my ti3 away so I will have to get another for a comparison. probably will wait until fenix/nitecore/olight all come out with their new stuff and then we can compare ;)

    looks like they have a good product here. however, i think thrunite has superior engineering with the "firefly" modes they include now. to me, that ultra-low mode is a necessity now. i still might get one of these though, especially since i see it is available in copper.

      +TechysTechTalk It is just as durable as anything else I have carried on my keys. I like it more than anything from Nitecore, Fenix, Olight or ThruNite. Remember when you carry something on your keys it will take a lot more abuse than in your pocket. I still carry the DQG light i reviewed a few weeks ago on my keys but this is now in my pocket daily because it is smaller than my chapstick or lighter in the same pocket. For EDC use I don't need anything brighter than 100+ lumens. I have other lights in my packs for that.

    Argh!!! I'm torn... clicky or magnet, that is the ? I just ordered this thanks to this video. Although I don't normally like twist operation, I think magnet base is more practical for me, especially on a keychain edc light since it will be exposed to more situations where it needs to be multifunctional. Clickys don't really improve usability options whereas a magnet base does. It's still subjective I guess.

      +Living Survival It just showed up last night. It was probably sitting on my doorstep when I wrote my comment above. I'm starting to agree... the magnet is a boo/hiss! Mine doesn't seem to have the 5 sec memory,

    I just go a box with flashlight, keychain and two o rings. Cost from Amazon $19.95. Could not find anyone selling magnetic end cap only. Amazon has light with mag cap at $18.95. No case with mine. Thanks anyway.

    It's a nice flashlight, but again, in this day and age, it should be rechargeable in my opinion. Being rechargeable should be as standard as LED bulbs are now. You never see a new flashlight without an LED bulb, so why would they make one so you can not recharge it? I'm sure most would rather see that feature rather than a magnetic tail cap. I mean if it's on your key chain, that means you're never far from a USB port, either at work or home. Keep up the great work.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +wjf213 I agree with harder to get batteries but this is AAA and always good to carry one of those. Would jack up the price as well.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it fed on Li-ion 10440's exclusively, I'd agree. But the most common AAA batteries are primary alkaleaks and lithiums that you just discard when spent, or rechargeable NiMHs that are notoriously complicated to design in-light charging for, especially when single-cell.
      And as Ben said, it would jack up the price.

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gunner193 That's why I want some thing that's rechargeable.....I hate buying and throwing away batteries. While I'm not a tree hugger, I do believe in not being wasteful if there's some thing out there that can be reused. Plus, as cheap as electronics have become, I find it hard to believe it would jack up the price that much, but what do I know. It's just my opinion as to what I look for when buying any flashlight or anything like that. I even have a 3,000 watt wind generator on an 84 foot tower, and almost 4kw in solar power, and almost 60kwh in a battery bank hooked to a Trace power panel with two SW5548 inverters, so I really do get into recharging and reusing whenever I can. I am replacing the current batteries with Nickel Iron batteries and I will never have to replace batteries again as they will last 50 years or more. They have nickel iron batteries that are over 100 years old and still going as strong as the day they were made. We don't need to keep throwing things out is all I'm saying, and especial things like batteries. Yes you can recycle them, but who REALLY does that? I mean the recycle center is 10 miles away and your trash can is 10 FEET away........where do you think they will end up?

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      wjf213 Agreed and more power to you for sure! keep up the good work.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      wjf213 I do make the effort to recycle my stuff, it's just a nice thing to do. Ain't like putting spent batteries in a bottle and save it for when I happen to pass by a place with a battery disposal urn is an effort. Not that it's common for me to have to do it since I moved on to employing _only_ rechargeables; only once in a blue moondoes the odd alkaleak inside a trinket pop up and make me open that disposal bottle.
      The electronics are indeed cheap, but the manpower capable of implementing it is not. And for whatever reason, it's still a mystery to the world why making a non-cradle charger for NiMH batteries is so complicated that no manufacturer ever tries to make one. [shrug] You'd have to ask someone graduated in electrical engineering for a concrete answer.

      And from your video, it does looks so. But mine, when i do that, it goes to the next mode (low). Weird ...
