My dad had a restaurant in a small town in Tennessee during the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. We spent every night for years sifting through the coins eg. looking for "deals" eg. silver dollars; wheat pennies, etc. Over the years there were bags and bags. My dad would sort them out and sell them. He bought a couple of cars cash with the proceeds.
That sounds like some great family fun!
I’m the collector in the family. Sure do wish my Dad had done that but he said it was just money to put in the bank back then.
He said soldiers from the Aroumy would come in his 7😢 on
Weren’t you always afraid and frightened to death living in such a dangerous state filled with so many endless mass killers and psychopaths like Tennessee?
What part of Tennessee?
Foolish spending, he should have saved it.
The Coin Guy continues to amaze me. I could listen to him all day.
He knows all!
He's a blast! 😀
I do listen to him all day 😅😅
The Coin Guy is My Favorite. He is Honest and I Learn a Lot From watch Your Channel. I live and Georgia, Me and My Daughter are going on vacation and I'm going to stop in His Shop.
I had a nice visit with Guy today. I'm visiting from San Diego on a family vacation. I never miss him on the videos. He is just as personable in real life. Thanks Coin Guy.
Guy was an influencer before internet was a thing 💯❤️
Great video!!! I'm a coin collector first before being a stacker I love coin shop video's!!! Those Mercury dimes are beautiful!!! I love it educator not influencer we need more of that in this world!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Coin Guy videos are Proof 70!
We need more frequent videos of y'all, this could be a weekly podcast and do great!.
Thanks for your input 😊
I’ve been into many coin stores where I knew I wasn’t wanted in there. My wife and I own a commercial cleaning and janitorial company and we still work in the field at some very dirty places and between jobs if there’s a coin store we stop and sometimes I might not look like a model customer wearing the nicest clothes. The funniest thing I’ve ran into was, I should know what I want before I came in there or the I’m not here to teach you about coins. This is the main reason younger people won’t walk into these places and why I don’t like it either. There is a local guy to me and he is really nice and helpful so at least there one near me.
I always love Coin Guy videos. I especially liked the viewer questions part this time. Thank you both so much!
Thank you for all the insight and every upload 😊
This was great! I had no idea some fakes look that good. Phenomenal video. Thank you for sharing.
The Coin Guy is indeed a great educator!
About 2 years ago I went to a coin show. A dealer had a $5 bucket. Looking through it I saw a coin I liked a 1934 1/10 Balboa from Panama. A few months ago I was looking at it and looked it up on NGC world price guide it was silver and only 75000 were minted. I sent it to PCGS and it came back a 64. That’s a good score.
I love when that happens!
I love listening to Coin Guys personal stories and of course the educational details he provides. Especially this one on fake coins. Thank you.
I loved this chat - thank you guys! Very interesting. Guy is our secret weapon!
SSS, it would be nice if you'd spend a lot more time analyzing the fake PCGS holder. For example, does it have the numbers on the edge? If so, is the font correct? Please do a more complete video on fake PCGS and NGC slabs where you weigh them across different years, etc.
Also, are you sure that the hologram PCGS decal, on the back, is always supposed to be inside the slab. I have some that I got direct from PCGS that appear to be on the outside. I'll check them closer.
Sir, you would have my vote every year for the near future. Your an educator and a honest businessman. Thank you for the education Coin Guy….
It sounds like Guy navigated the second round of the virus much better than the first go around. Glad to see that he’s doing well. Maybe you’ll have some of those collaborative silver rounds in the shop next time I stop in.
The old lady story getting $1200 is why I need to simplify my stack at some point. I enjoy collecting and enjoy owning and remembering where I got things. But I've collected quite a bit of premium over time. I feel like I need to move it myself at some point and just buy gold.
Hello from Detroit Michigan brother thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and for what you do
Thank you for watching!
Coin Guy rocks. Hope the round you guys are coming out with does good, but I'm sure it will. Those fakes are pretty scary. I could see myself falling for them but that's why I only shop through reputable companies and dealers
They did great!
@@mrsspegtacular6484 awesome!
God bless our Speg and Coin Guy we are so lucky to have them .
We are!
Good thing you are experienced... Young person getting started might be fooled. Hate thieves!
Pawn shops typically give out loans for coins, that are way below the actual value. What the customer overheard may have been a loan amount, rather than a purchase amount. If they pay the interest, they can get their gold coins back.
I belive the motor and emissions system are calibrated differently pending what metal is in the "catholic" converter, maybe as simple as temperature.
Thank you for another fascinating, fun and educational video Mr. Speg and Mr. Guy. I believe I've watched every one at least twice but many of them more than that.
I missed my opportunity to get in on your signature round it sounds like but I would be my pleasure to purchase a couple if the opportunity arises.
Thanks for the laughs and the knowledge Speg, I enjoy all of your content.
Cheers
Oh My Gosh, thank you Spegtacular. This was great info. Thank you Coin Guy.
@ 38:08 -- I have a couple ancient coins w/ counterstamps. They definitely are rare, but they did do counterstamping back then.
But of course.., gotta be extra careful, as a chopmark or counterstamp is very easy to add later on.
Good to know! Thanks!
if I was in a shop and didn't run that PCGS Morgan I would have been fooled, thank god the internet is in our hands these days.
I notice that Facebook is allowing ads for fake coins.
I remember when I bought my first 1 ounce gold coin I paid $450 for it wish I can go back in time
31:00 that's admirable to hear about people getting a fair deal or even a better then expected offering for their metals. It's good that she will be more aware of the value for the future.
She most likely will be a repeat customer and share the news with friends and family. It's a good business decision as well as morally upstanding.
1:00:00 I like these conversations, well rounded perspectives about the world. The talk about the whales and birds is important to be aware of. I like the idea of renewable energy but the negative effects of it have to be well known.
I like listening to The Coin Guy , he have great knowledge on numismatics, watch his videos and you will learn a lot.
You are changing lives for the better! There is no better feeling than seeing a kid starting down the right path! God bless!
Some great coins shown here, I loved the Dimes and Cents. Speg, a large coin is rarely, possibly very rarely found in Gem Grade because they are too big during production and packaging, but you can always find the smaller coins in exceptional condition although still very hard to find nevertheless, therefore the Dimes do not need to be bigger if you collect condition. Great Video and coins.
I enjoyed seeing the gold Kazakhstan Proof in the case. 2012 was the year of the Dragon and the coin shows the Chinese Zodiac in the outer ring and the position of the stars in the night sky in2012.Rare and Beautiful. Thanks Guy and Speg.
Some people faun over Beyoncé. Some people faun over Lebron James. I just spoke to Guy on the phone and was literally shaking with nerves. I ordered three of y’all’s rounds and Nathan took my order. I can’t wait for them to get here!
That’s awesome 😆 congrats!
Everyone should be a lifelong learner...great video
You have to be if you want to grow to be a better version of yourself!
I just subscribed, first time I saw one of your videos, thank you I learned something today.
Please make more rounds. They sold out so fast that I missed it.
I went into 2 coin shops last week and was offered less than $20 for my proof sets 99-09(2 2009) I had 12 silver proof sets and 10 commemorative proof silver dollars and a pds 3 olympic dollar silver dollar collector set and a 2 euro charles darwin silver proof and one shop offered me $400 the other offered me $460 for everything over 26 oz in melt weight alone
My I kindly suggest multiple metals runs of the logo/owl rounds. Copper rounds will sell most likely also.
I enjoy how coin guy talks New York, very upfront.
I was at a garage sale and saw a fellow sell 101 pre 1964 half dollars, most of them quite old, for $1.00 each to a friend of mine who beat me to the sale. They had belonged to his grandfather. He figured that he was doubling his money on each coin. If it wasn't my friend buying them I would have offered him much more for them, but I didn't want to piss off my friend.
I'm building a toned Dansco set. I would've called in for yours, Speg.
Yay! the Coin Guy is back. Its been too long!
Thanks for watching!
im seeing several of the 1881 CC fakes. Thanks Speg they weigh 21grams. @7min I wish coin guy would of weighed one genuine and the fake in the holder. I bet there is 6+ gram difference
Thanks gentlemen great video, information, entertainment. I always enjoy watching 👍
And my husband and I appreciate you for watching 😊
Coin Guy, I wish you were on the west coast. I really appreciate your honesty and just pure love of teaching numismatics to people like me. Any one you can recommend here in the Los Angeles area?
Influencing their selection with ad $$ = influencer. I think coin Guy might be on to something there. Always love listening to his knowledge. I would like to be a more of a collector but wouldn't know what is what. I'm jealousof spectacular. Wish my town had a coin Guy.
Another great video, Guy you the man, Speg you the man, GOD BLESS AMERICA, Keep Stackin bros’
Thanks for watching!
This video made me pull out my Silver Eagles & start inspecting them, lol😅
Spegtacular, CoinGuy, you really cheer me up! I ust got some good news. I'll be moving to Flushing, NY in a few months! Thanks again guys!
I was in a local coin store. A couple needed money. The mom passed away. Small store so I over heard he gave them $550. They said another place only offered around $300. I'm only going to that shop. 🇺🇸
@@susanventre3526 being it's just me. My sister will probably have to take care of my estate. I NEED to have thing written down what, where to do. 🖖
Imma need one of these new CoinGuy/ Speg silver rounds!
Stay tuned 😉
Very helpful and informative video, thanks.
In the video, one of the tools Coin Guy refers to using is “the machine”.
Specifically what machine is he referring to?
He’s referring to a Sigma 😊
@@mrsspegtacular6484
Got it thanks
Got to love the coin guy videos ... thanks for you hard work making it... nice channel coin .....
Awesomeness again. Thank you, brother. Need more Coin Guy videos. ❤
My first visit, you came up on my TH-cam feed. Glad I found you. I carry a magnet with me, have stepped away from many Chinese counterfeits.
Thank you for sharing…much love to you and “the Coin Guy” from Spartanburg, S.C. 🇺🇸
On the fake 1881-CC, it should NOT say "MORGAN" on the holder. PCGS will Only put the word "morgan" on the 1921's or 2021s
Another Great Video !!! Can't wait for the next one !!
Right??
another great video with Mr. Guy !!
I'm a new coin collector. Thanks for the good info. Like u men! Thanks a lot. I'm hoping to visit ur place!
I really want a Spegtacular/Coin Guy round. Looking forward to more information about that.
I live over in Lebanon N.H. I buy metals when spot is down. I always love buying numismatic coins bank notes ect. Especially love the seated design and Era. Flying eagles get the blood pumpin too. Who doesn't love morgans and peace. I gotta check u folks out
With platinum it's the fact that South Africa still has large platinum mines. They are mining them out like crazy. The mines are not going to last that much longer.
I love this guy! ❤
The 64 Kennedys are the scariest ones cuz you can put those in a roll and the LCS would not notice if you brought in a bunch to sell.
Thank you gentlemen for the video.
You my friend had a counterfeiter in your shop. Whenever I buy I take down that individuals information and if I happen to come across something that is counterfeit on the spot, or later that day, I turn that person in. I was wondering if you turned this individual in to the authorities? Counterfeiters come in all sizes, one individual, a small group, all the way up to countries like china & n. korea. Counterfeiters need stopped! It is bad for our hobby. Would love to hear your response to my comment. Thank you, Gunny
The fields look “rough” on the fake. The genuine ones have a “smooth” field. And the numbers are always “bubbly” looking.
I like the coin guy... he's a awesome person...🤘🙏🤙
He is!
Coin guy is great, love the stories 😀
I had a friend try to sell me 10 of the 2020 Silver Eagles loose and not in any holders.. The first thing I did was a ping test and it did not "sing" like a real silver dollar. I paid him $250 for the 10 coins but I told him I wanted to check them out better at home. My small scale wouldn't weight them so the only reliable tests I could do was a ping test on each one then also a magnet test. All 10 silver Eagles were magnetic. I asked him for a refund and I returned all 10 coins. Now he knows that they are fakes and he won't try to sell them to anyone else.
Sweet Shout out T very nice of Keri to send you the gift of affiliate program 👍 You're doing it right my friend.
thanks coin guy, more coin knowledge. love your channel.
Great video as always 👍👍
My husband and I appreciate that!
Great vid. Love the Coin Guy!
Countermarks are not rare on Roman Imperial coins. Not real common either.
Great show. Thanks to both of you for posting this. Guy's predictions in this video are pretty accurate. Almost scary lol.
Fun show fellas
Very educarional ! Thank you!
On the fake PCGS dollar I noticed the label had “Morgan” under the grade… Pretty sure that is not normal. In fact I have never seen them list the nick name of the coin on the label.
Very good to know! Thanks!
Great video. Thanks.
I love watching your show. I think you are honest and to the point, I feel you have been burnt and screwed over or took advantage of because of your humble person. I am new to this game but I am putting in the time to get educated from the ones that find and sell, the ones that buy and sell such as you. The graders and auctions.
Just found your channel and i really enjoy the history lesson that gentlmen Guy really knows his history and the episode where he picked up all those roman and byzantine coins had me in absolute awe for someday i will own gold silver bronze of all my favorite Roman emperors especially Nero . Caracalla. Geta . Caligula. Elegabalus
Ordered 2 can't wait to see them. I also wrote Guy in on Most Influential.
I found a 1807 half dime at a grocery store. I haven’t had a graded, but it looks like at least the 60. It has to be stolen from somebody’s collection.
The fake PCGS slab has the "sonic" emblem on the back which is on their current holders, however....the one thing the counterfeiters have not gotten right with their attempts to counterfeit that holder is the RFID chip that are in the legit holders. If you hold the label up to the light you'll see the chip that's between the labels......no chip, no legit. Look for this when purchasing the current PCGS slabs.
The "CC" on the real coins seems harder to see also. The fake one the mint mark seems to pop more
I did see three Octagonal 1915S $50.00 gold piece at the 2023 ANA Money show in Phoenix this year ....... was looking for you Coin Guy!
How do I get the Giant Gold Coin on the wall Behind Guy. Lol
I want to see more fancy serial numbers of coin guy
Ask coin guy if the proof quarter sets are worth keeping instead of buying just a silver round? Will they be worth something more in the long run as numismatic coins? Or just as much as rounds? Don Los Angeles California
The mintages of the American Womens Quarters silver proof sets are much lower than in the 70s and 80s. Low mintages mean there's greater potential.
I stack 1964 Kennedy's and after watching I weighed them all. Thanks for the info.
you guys are honest THANK YOU Anyway years ago 80s I heard an estate lawyer went to a coin shop to liquidate some coin rolls and gave the dealer the rolls @face value one roll was the 1917/8 standing liberty quarters 25 k value EACH I heard the dealer closed the shop and made himself scarce . mmmmmm some people
That 2009 penny set is amazing, just love those designs
Always gonna be my favorite to collect, love those mercury dimes
I bought 4 of those 09 sets gave a couple to my niece and nephews 👍
Any videos on the SBA coins with SMOOTH RIMS ? - MY dad has 2 of these and collected 1000's of these over his lifetime but he only ever found 2 smooth rims. For the record he only got his SBA coins from the post office. I read an article somewhere a long time ago that the Smooth Rim SBA coins were Experimental coins by the Mint made for the Blind so that they could distinguish the SBA from a Regular quarter. The plan /program was dropped though after blind folks told the US Mint that they could "read" the lettering on the coins to tell them apart with their fingers. So, a bit of a "Thanks for thinking of us blind folks at US Mint, but we got this...lol". Apparently its the old story of an experiment where the coins made were to be destroyed but more than a few escaped into circulation. I've contacted the US Mint and got no information, PCGS and NGC both said this isn't an error coin or variety and won't recognize it as such but neither would they state if they had ever seen or graded one before. Only other theories I've heard are "Intentional after-Mint damage" where the rim was filed down smooth... but for what point??? ... I've also heard that the rim was worn off but slot machine players - however, if so, the coins would bear far more circulation damage and the 2 we have are clean and pristine, just as if they went straight from mint to PO. Which is what the Mint did to get the coins into circulation and more widely accepted - Which of course didn't work out. Additionally, if the slot machine theory were true these smooth rim SBA's would be far far more common to find in circulation. -- ANY AND ALL ADVICE AND INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! ... Keep up the Great Videos -Love every one!
