Baseball needed this. The excitement, the nerves, the anxiousness throughout the ballpark, the country, and the rest of the baseball world. This is what baseball is all about. Now the top pitchers in the U.S. will want to play in the next one. Japan just makes everything better. Congratulations!!
MLB teams will never let the top pit hers play for team USA. It is too much of an investment risk and the tournament is during Spring Training when pitchers have to get ready for the season. USA will not be winning anytime soon.
We Japanese really enjoyed this tournament. However... what Japanese baseball fans are disappointed is that baseball is no longer the No.1 sports in the U.S. Besides, Japan is also getting similar situation... I hope baseball becomes the most popular sports in US again and the world in the future!

Not really. The real final was mexico vs japan.. Japan was playing from behind for almost all the game. This game usa really never had japan on edge. Japan seemed in control all the way.

I never even heard of the world baseball classic until this year. The final out is probably the greatest moment I've seen in baseball. As much as it stings to see USA lose, I'm glad that it was Japan that defeated us because of Shohei Ohtani facing his own Angels teammate Mike Trout. He showed he was the best player in baseball and this moment made me a fan of Ohtani.
I could care less about the nay sayers of the WBC. I've been watching baseball for 45 years and this is the best baseball I've ever watched. This was spectacular!!! Thank you Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominicana, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico and Japan for playing with so much passion and giving everything you could give for your country. TJ, I agree with you 100%. This round of WBC was far better than the first 4. They were much more closely contested, and more exciting. There was a lot of hard balls hit out of the park and some spctacular plays. Japan's walk off win against Mexico was fantastic and heart stopping. Who would have thought Mexico, a soccer nation, would have such success in baseball. And tonight match up between Ohtani and Trout for the final out couldn't have been written better by a hollywood writer. It is for the ages. Baseball is indeed becoming world sport.
The WBC is the rock n roll of baseball. Bringing back the grassroots feeling that made baseball fun to watch in the early 1900s during Babe Ruth. Much faster, fiesta ambience due to the Asian and Latin American fans. The MLB and World Series has been criticized for being too slow, stale, and boring this past couple of decades (with evidence of how the Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha generations not watching baseball anymore). The WBC can make baseball take back its throne as America's favorite sport.

It actually happened. Ohtani vs Trout. The most epic moment I have ever witnessed in my 30 years of watching baseball along with the Phillies World Series win in 2008. Oh my goodness! The anxiety was building up like crazy. It was everything I expected it to be and more. That 87 mph slider was NASTY! MVP! MVP! 📢📢📢📢

The entire WBC delivered this year! Drama, excitement, star power, and a classic ending! Nobody could’ve written a better ending! I personally enjoyed watching Japan, Mexico, and Venezuela. It actually happened. Ohtani vs Trout. The most epic moment I have ever witnessed in my 30 years of watching baseball along with the Phillies World Series win in 2008. Oh my goodness! The anxiety was building up like crazy. It was everything I expected it to be and more. That 87 mph slider was NASTY! MVP! MVP! 📢📢📢📢
