Maybe AC could actually fly internationally from Ottawa again...pre-covid there were (full) daily flights to London and Frankfurt. Now nothing to Europe. Painful to do the Montreal or Toronto hop when the demand in Canada's fourth largest city is there for European travel.
@@herpderp159 Yeah, and people who've experienced even the worst of the worst of the Euro Legacy Carriers never want to fly AC again, Air France basically just killed AC in the Ottawa Transatlantic market.
Those "premium cabins" A-321XLRs are good news for all the California based actors, execs, and writers filming year round in Toronto and Montreal. It's actually much closer than Europe, contrary to what this video says, but whatever: it's a great tool to have. Also allows service to Mexico, Brazil, Panama, Columbia, and North Africa - the latter which will delight Montreal's Moroccan community. Great move.
I don't understand why they need this for North American routes. The regular A321neo would give them the entire continent anyway. But they opted for the 737 Max instead of going with the Neos. Although AC already operated the A320 family before. I bet they regret that decision!
They've done well with the 737 Max 8's, really nice ride actually. Air Canada can use both A320 and 737 family aircraft, other major North American airlines like Delta, American Airlines, United do the same.
If you mean the map shown, not really. And you have to keep in mind at least one, better two diversion destinations too. But Senegal should be fine with these reserves taken into account.
ETOPS certification has to do with the airline, its governing body for its nation and the route structure. There’s no one size fits all answer but in short to answer your question….. yes it does.
I just hope they don't put the rear toilets inside the employee kitchen. There's literally nowhere to go when you're standing there waiting to go. It's so awkward.
That was a bone-headed move to put the washrooms by the galley. Couldn’t they install four washrooms in the fuselage mid section? And hang heavy curtains so that passengers sitting by the washrooms are not so negatively impact by all the people going to the washrooms.
I love these videos - but PLEASE stop repeating the same lines 2 or 3 times - better to be more efficient with the intro and have more videos than try to expand 2 minutes of content to 3.5 minutes!!!
Need the XLR to fly to California? It can fly all the way to Hawaii. The standard A321neo can get to San Diego, forget about the LR. I was surprised Air Canda only restarted flights between Hongcouver and Singapore this year, but with incompetent execs like this it makes sense.

Even the 737 MAX 10 can’t compete with the A321LR or XLR cause the XLR’s range advantage over the MAX 10 is twice the LR’s range advantage.
looking forward what Airlines can do towards FAA concerning the XLR's RCT
Well the aer lingus a321xlr is already in construction so I wonder how that one in specific will be affected

Agreed! They always used archaic 767’s, but I believe the route ended because their retired them . Maybe this XLR allows the route to come back?
They'll have to compete with the YOW-CDG Air France flight now, though. They may not want to. I hope they bring back the London flight though.

It can help solve one of those problems. Customer service? Not so much.
My thoughts exactly. Onboard service is 3rd world at times.
More direct flights to Montreal would be great.
Smart plan unlike some of other purchased aircraft of the past that I need not mention…
Less well known destinations like Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen for transatlantic routes would be worthwhile for the A321XLR!
Wasn’t the range reduced to 8400km or something for parts required for the additional fuel tank?
Ottawa-London I hope
Makes for some interesting options alright.

They will probably just continue to order second hand ones if they still feel the need to deploy them.

I think it may feel small inside
