There are 4 types of insulation, sound , thermal, vibration, wind noise, one should use all the 4 types of insulation with different thickness in different areas of car to reduce the cabin noise. Just sticking same sound damping sheet to whole car is just waste of money and useless, sound damping is only for doors. I done my damping in RM Cardecors, Coimbatore, TamilNadu. They use Russian brand Dr.Artex
Misleading information....I have got Blaupunkt Gold sheet damping installed on my XUV7OO with stock speakers...huge improvement...and also road noise is almost reduced by 70%...I got single layer damping
I disagree. OEM doesn't give speakers according to doors. There are many cars in which the door panels, power window switches rattle when you increase the volume. Damping helps avoid that rattling. Bose in Hyundai gives a separate subwoofer on the dashboard. That's why your doors may be fine. Not all brands/cars have that advantage. Damping on doors make huge difference if you don't have a sub woofer and trying to get bass only using door speakers. Which is a case in most of the cars. So please don't generalize. They'll get misguided.
Disagree with the audio quality part. The damping sheet reduces the flex of the door sheets hence enhances the overall acoustics. Anyone can try it, mount a speaker in a tin can, and play the music, then mount the same speaker in a wooden box and play the same music. Hope the point is clear.
What you have mentioned is partly true about stock speakers not requiring sound damping. But, 1. I or any sound quality enthusiast will not agree that the company provided speakers sound good (even Bose, Harman, etc.). The company provided flimsy sub standard speakers even in top variants do not produce the original sound range we hear in songs as they are physically incapable of doing so. The so called branding of premium audio is a marketing gimmick or more like a placebo affect. 2. Damping in doors is necessary for Mid Bass not Bass (do not confuse between those two terms, they are under completely different frequency ranges). Also to hear a difference in after door damping there is no need for extremely priced speakers, you can hear difference with any speaker which has larger voice coils that are capable of reproducing mid bass. 3. Also what you have depicted about car vibrating sound is not a sound quality build. For a SQ build the bass needs to be very accurate, too much bass and vibration is what SQ builds avoid the most. 4. Reg companies doing R&D for sound quality. This is a COMPLETE JOKE. I agree companies do R&D to modulate the sound coming out of the cheap low spec speakers (even those in top variants like Bose or Harman) they provide with the car to sound at their best. But no amount of audio modulation can make up for the lack of physical features of those speakers (Did you even see the size of the magnets of the OEM Bose speakers, at best for their size they are like paper weights). Finally my advice to people is if you are sticking with stock speakers then door damping is not necessary for you as no amount of damping can help you if the speaker is not capable of reproducing mid-bass, even upgrading to Bose speakers is a complete waste of money. Also if you are thinking of upgrading to aftermarket speakers then do not expect them to sound good as the company modulates the sound signal coming out of the head unit to make the cheap speakers they provide sound at their best. You will need an audio processor (DSP) to correct the sound signal coming out of the stock HU so the full range of frequencies are fed to the after market speakers. FYI, I am no car accessory store owner or related to this field. I am an audiophile and I own a 2023 Seltos GTX+ (8 Bose speakers) and the very first thing I did on my car was replace the speakers (Although it took 2 months of research to decide on the setup). I have successfully build quality audio systems in my previous 3 cars as well (within budget), so I am saying this with experience. Also do not listen to words of Car Accessory Shop salespersons as most of them do not even have knowledge to make you car audio sound better. Take your time, do not rush. Do research online at car audio forums (www.diymobileaudio.com), Crutchfiled (website), CarAudioFabrication (YT channel) to understand how car audio can be upgraded to sound best for a given budget before taking any decisions.
Thank God You were here to explain all this properly about frequencies and sound dampening. Some people listen to songs while leaving their side windows open who don't have knowledge of sound insulation. Stock headunit or speakers don't cover all the frequencies always gonna miss out some notes💯
Bro I am having new GV and i wanted to place steg Leo 650 front and stock units of GV to back. Do I need to damp or use amp?I don't need both but I fear about vibrations, and other stuffs. Generally speaking I just upgraded from my 13yr old Swift desire. YOUR HELP MATTERS A LOT. PLZ PING ME SOON BRO I WANT TO HEAR YOUR OPINION AND SAVE MONEY.
hello sir i have kia carens top line and bose speckers give door vibrations so i decided to damp my doors for vibration reduction is it worth cuz door switches vibrate a lot and some amount of rattling noise also come and i love bass that's why
I agree with you brother. It is totally waste of money. I done 2 mistakes. 1. I choose the wrong car i.e Renault triber and even in that I choose RXZ AMT which costs me 10.50L. Actually it is producing more cabin noise and giving vibrations when I switch on the AC. 2. On top of that blindly without any knowledge I go for double layer damping to reduce the cabin sound. After installing damping sheets it is giving more vibrations and full rattle sounds from all doors. Now I don't have any idea what to do. Now I am deciding to go to another car decors to remove all the damping. Why because if I touch 80 speed full noise coming into the cabin. Previously it is not there. Can you please suggest what to do.
Thanks @Arka for making this video on my request. Very informative and I really appreciate you taking my name in the video😊 Keep growing and shining 🤗🤗

Bhai, if you just close the door holes by a dampening sheet just like whats being done in tata nexon, you will see the difference, no need to do inner wall dampening, only cover the door cavities, thats all
Inner wall damping is actually the right use of the damping sheet, what you're suggesting is creating an enclosure with a damping sheet. No damping in that tbh
I have done damping in my carens full damping( inner & outer wall only on the doors) ... And bro there is no difference found in cabin noise and sound,... Now I am planning to upgrade my audio and let's see.... Kya farak padta hai 😢 pura paisa kharab 😢😢
@ same it was rly annoying even much worser than my honda jazz. I got 2.3mm vibrofilter and 2.1mm morel (ie double layer) on all four doors and dicky, plus a morel hood damping 6mm on the bonnet area. Car feel awesome now and outside noises r much lesser. I also plan to get 3m rubber coating in the wheel arch area and probably in future, more damping in the rest of the areas.
@ thank you very much, I will try, bonnet damping makes any difference, doesn’t it impact the engine heat and other exhaust? Also have you tried to install extra beading around doors, some video I saw that also is a major issues?
@ i will do the beading in near future. For the bonnet area they have special material that isn’t butyl rubber but a sheet of sound isolation foam, now engine harshness doesn’t come in the cabin too, only the revs which i like.
I did door damping on the outer part of the doors of my Ford Freestyle with stock speakers and it did help in boosting the sound and bass. Your video it not factually correct. Maybe the intensity of sound effect will vary from car to car but it's not useless.
Not everyone has the balls to accept his mistake. This shows you are a genuine youtuber!!
Thank you :)
