@@ezequielalvarez8263nah you must have a American mom. Us Caribbean’s always got them spices on deck cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, vanilla flavor. We got that’s honey, brown sugar, banana. My mom go OD on the oatmeal this video they barely added anything.
this is how you make oatmeal in a pot... Bring the water to a boil first. You want a three-to-two ratio of water to rolled oats. Bringing the water to a boil before you add the oats keeps them from absorbing too much water. Add the oats at a simmer. Once boiling, drop the temp down to a gentle simmer and add the oats. Simmer for three minutes, stirring here and there. Then shut of the heat and move the pot off the burner. Cover and rest for five minutes. This is where the magic happens: Let the oats absorb the water without stirring or simmering. Perfect oatmeal is just ahead, so get your toppings ready.
This just might be the answer I was looking for. Just made my first bowl of oatmeal and couldn't even finish it bc I prolly made it wrong lol. And using tap water is nasty-I can see the film on the edge of the pot from it. Definitely gonna use cleaner water when cooking now. And I'll give oats another shot I suppose!
Y'all should try Jamaican style oatmeal porridge. If you didn't like oatmeal before you'll definitely like it how we do it. A bit more runny and not lumpy like you are used to, with a delicious creamy mostly smooth taste eaten with bread and whatever fruits you want
i made my first ever oatmeal and the texture was really thick and mushy so now i'm here i experimented with milk and water, just water and just milk and i now have concluded that just water has the best consistency for me
This might be a dumb question, but is it bad to boil the oats? Do they lose any nutrients? Or is it actually better if you boil them? And I love the fact that the video just goes straight to the point!
If you meant boil it separately before putting it in the milk, then no don't do that. You can "boil / cook" it in the milk and eat up, the nutrients stays in the mixture
@@VRDiablo I just made my first successful bowl and it's really bomb with peanut butter, ngl. And I also added some salt in the water which makes it taste a lot better.
So I never ever ate oats but I knew they were delicious....so today I had no choice bc of the winter storm....and here I am finding out how to boil water 😅 🙃
I can’t believe the redpilotsun video is more famous than this lol and made me buy more Quaker oats than any actual advertisement lmao they needa do merch as well I’d totally buy that
Ok everyone, they are cooking it too long. That is why they are sticky and sometimes slimy. Try this. Quick oats, ad a pinch of salt to your water or milk. Bring to a boil. Ad your quick oats and stir. As soon as they are all stirred remove from the stove. Only let them cook about 10 seconds under heat. Scoop into bowl, ad bit of butter, milk, sugar or honey. The oats will be firm, and chewy and not sticky or slimy.
These straight-to-the-point videos are really good. Less time but packed.

1 cup milk, 1/2 cup oats. Boil milk then add oats and let it cook for 5-6 minutes and its done :) this serves one person
This works well too, but I use water and add fruit. Sometimes I add milk after
