I'm just a little bit younger than you and where I went to school when I was a kid I was a minority as a white girl. ALL of my friends and teachers were black, this was in the 80's and early 90's, and the only thing we really took note of was that our palms almost matched, then we'd flip our hands over and giggle at the difference in our skin. That was literally the extent of how much we cared about skin color. My friends liked braiding my hair to try to make it match their hairstyles and I loved that we were "twins" once they did my hair. Even a lot of our television was extremely diverse, I remember meeting Gordon from Sesame Street at a friend's birthday party, that's who we ALL looked up to, white or black. You and I are of the "We Are the World" generation, after all! We were absolutely on the right trajectory with Gen X and I truly believed my kids were going to grow up in a society where racism was a thing of the past. They are actually making an aggressive effort to bring it back. This whole thing makes me sick. I don't know a single person who's actually racist - as in cares at all what "race" somebody is. People need to snap out of it, this is nothing more than divide and conquer. And it's working. ALL of our voices need to be heard.

Like wise, another Disabled Vet here and I grew up in projects amd we had the heinz 57 crew as I called it, we had black, white Hispanic and Asian all in one bedroom. Packed Luke sardines Ms. Ida a white lady who had 3 half black kids took us all in and was mom to us all.. those were the good ol days. We looked out for each other and there was one way in and same way out. Just a round about in back and in the bmmiddle of that our friends aunt lived there dated a guy who got jacked on pcp and beat her uo so we all broke him bad. Literally in shambles when he got himself to the hospital. Cops came and actually praised us for defending a woman when they seen what he did to her.

I'm just a little bit younger than you and where I went to school when I was a kid I was a minority as a white girl. ALL of my friends and teachers were black, this was in the 80's and early 90's, and the only thing we really took note of was that our palms almost matched, then we'd flip our hands over and giggle at the difference in our skin. That was literally the extent of how much we cared about skin color. My friends liked braiding my hair to try to make it match their hairstyles and I loved that we were "twins" once they did my hair. Even a lot of our television was extremely diverse, I remember meeting Gordon from Sesame Street at a friend's birthday party, that's who we ALL looked up to, white or black. You and I are of the "We Are the World" generation, after all! We were absolutely on the right trajectory with Gen X and I truly believed my kids were going to grow up in a society where racism was a thing of the past. They are actually making an aggressive effort to bring it back. This whole thing makes me sick. I don't know a single person who's actually racist - as in cares at all what "race" somebody is. People need to snap out of it, this is nothing more than divide and conquer. And it's working.

Im a young white man, and i grew up to treat everybody equally, ive been treated poorley by other races and turned the other cheek more times than i can count. I refuse to continue the cycle of hate. Come to find out after a dna test, im Japanese, Hispanic, and Seirra Leonean African (traced back to a black slave). Growing up i would have never seen myself as mixed race as im mostly swedish, german and irish, but now that i know, the world is clearer to me and it makes my love for other cultures that much greater. ❤
