Here in the UK I put a Chinese S&S carb on my 1340 Shovelhead... worked great straight out of the box.. and it only cost £34.07p... not sure what that is in dollars ? but it isn't very much.
I just bought one of these carbs for my '79 XLH; I've started it but not taken it on the road as I'm waiting for front end parts, so it's a relief to know they work. It replaced a CV40 which rubbed on the stock fuel tank and yeah, the air cleaners have different holes so I used an S&S Steath which has an enrichment lever built in. All of this left the carb unsupported (I've had so many inlet gaskets tear from the weight) so I've bracketed the top manifold mount to the mid head steady bracket - fingers crossed.
PS Love the forks.
probably would have started right up if you used the enrichment knob. Thanks for showing this in use! I just fubar'd my S&S super E body last week and had to buy a chinese replacement this weekend. Going to install it this coming weekend and use it this riding season then replace it with a super G next winter. Cheers and thanks for the video!

I did buy one of these Chinese carbs, but the quality of it is very poor. I guess for the price it would be too much to expect. In the end, I kept it for spares (it was barely much more than a rebuild kit!) and bought an Ultima R2. The difference in machining and finish quality was massive.
