After missing my opportunity to film this elevator in 2012, I came back for my annual retake again in 2013! The hotel has changed names. It is now called the Sunscape Ixtapa (the old name was the Dorado Pacifico). The new owners have made improvements all over the property, and to a slight extent, the service elevator was one of them. The cab was cleaned up significantly since my last visit, and the lighting was fixed. However, it all went downhill from there. After an initially smooth start, the elevator pulled it's old stopping trick on the top floor. Then, the door closed and it wouldn't move. I tried pressing door open, and it didn't work! Eventually, I found a working floor and it headed back down. With the incredibly poor fixtures, terrible ride quality, a dingy cab, broken call buttons, and the inability to stop on many of the floors, this still firmly holds its place as the worst elevator I've ever found. I wonder how's this elevator doing now. The main elevators have been modernized by OTIS with European fixtures based on photos at TripAdvisor, probably because of that downfall incident which injured one guest.

@@Houtarou_Hyouka_Unforgiven Yes. Still wonder about the service one whether its was replaced or not, there was like 2 of them (but I can't find the videos for that other Otis Lexan on this same building at the moment, but clearly remembered that there was 2 of them).

This is still pretty disappointing even if they did make some improvements on this service elevator that it's still roughed up, I wonder if the other one is any better.

OMG, I think the alarm button don't work, even the door open button and some of the call buttons doesn't work either. This is maybe the worst elevator I've ever seen.

One thing this elevator has that most don’t is the floor button flashing when the elevator stops at a floor witch I think is pretty cool
To The Elevator Channel next time if you go to Mexico and if you see a person who did a 2011 and 2013 retake of the other service elevator in Sunscape Ixtapa hotel Ixtapa Mexico could you please ask the person was it better in your 2011 retake or your 2013 retake and to ask were there any missing buttons or the Person's 2 retakes.

Nice elevator revisit, it's good to see is good old self, but it has Potential to be a awesome elevator, but only of the owners is willing to spend the money to do so.
Where I live, there is a few elevators like this that I’m shocked pass inspection. Worked on an 80s TK with a crew and I free fell while I was inside. Not fun at all

I've been on some Westinghouse elevators here in the US that were comparable to this one. Yikes!

If I was an employee, I would report that to my supervisor and get somebody to shut down and fix that elevator, THE RIGHT WAY!
If you do, make sure this service elevators get new stickers and fixed buttons and lights.
This elevator should be REPLACED. Its not working properly and has not been repaired or maintained to proper standards. The shaking isn't good. This is what happens to an elevator when it is not properly cared for. This would not be allowed to operate in the United States.
Honestly, if I noticed the sketchy button panel and the falling-off indicator before the door closed, I would probably get out. Even with my knowledge of the safety devices in passenger elevators, I wouldn't trust any of them to actually be functional after being "fixed" by people whose IQ is lower than the number of floors in the hotel.

He's not sure if he wants to revisit because on tripadvisor it says that one of the passenger elevator crashed to the bottom of its shaft.
That is a Latin Lexan, Otis kept selling it in Europe and Latin America well into 1992. I know of one in my town that behaves just like this, but has an original digital indicator and is in way better conditions.

Even though it's not going well, I don't want it replaced/modernised/demolished.
In fact, I've seen an elevator that's the Worst i've been on. It's at Macys at the Tyson corner mall. I did an October 2011 visit, July 2012 visit, and i believe Nov. 2012 visit. The logo doesn't look good, the cab is rusty, the Indicator is burned, and it rides rough.

Just a note to everyone: I didn't get down to this hotel in January. My next opportunity would be in 2015, though I'm nervous about revisiting the property after hearing that one of these elevators actually crashed into the bottom of the shaft (check Tripadvisor).

The elevators are probably in need of modernization, because one of the elevators broke, unless they fixed the interiors on the elevators.

The only thing that looks horrible about it, is the cab doors? The one on the right is really rough, in some way.

Or maybe the hotel gets demolished as this place is a total dump. Also, One of the service elevators (possibly this one) and a scenic passenger elevator CRASHED at the bottom of the shaft!!!! These are NEVER maintained.

I have a feeling your going to re-ride that bad elevator and it will get stuck and fall. Be careful with that elevator. If it were in the USA, it would have been CONDEMNED!

This isn't that bad really... Have you ever been in an old romanian elevator? Riding one is a horror movie! Very dim light, often turns off, has no internal doors, no displays, half the buttons missing, very slow, rattles and is allround crap... But hey, what do you expect from an old communistic flat XD
Megadriver Spanish elevators are what I would say to be the 2nd worst.
This tops the Romanian elevators in terms of how loose it feels and rides.

I have to ask,Is this place even any good? It looks a little eh to me, even on the outside.
To really understand this place, you need a little context about Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. It isn't Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, or any of the other big-name beach destinations you'd find in Mexico. There's a good chance that most people watching this wouldn't even know this town existed if it weren't for these videos. A lot of the attraction is that the town has some of the amenities of a modern beach resort while keeping the charm of a small Mexican fishing village. There's only about 7 hotels and a handful of condo buildings on the beach. Most of the structures went up in the late 70s and early 80s and haven't really changed since. So, this place is probably a B hotel compared to the competition in Ixtapa. But if you transplanted it to Cancun, it would be more like a C- or a D. (Renting a condo at the Bay View Grand is absolutely the way to go in Ixtapa.)

@@williamguzman2663 The rest (usually the passenger one) are now modernized after an incident back in 2014, which was falls off and injured a guest (via Tripadvisor).
