Saying FSU didn’t play without any of their draft picks says a lot but is still an understatement. They played without roughly 90% of their production on both sides of the ball. Most players that played in the game were 3rd/4th string guys that barely saw the field.
If all of FSU’s starters play, it’s likely a close game with Georgia winning due to having a starting QB. But Beck would have struggled against that defense with all of its starters. The Heisman winning, 2nd QB taken in the draft, Jayden Daniels, had his worst performance against that defense.

I hope the FSU coaches convinced the NFL talent on the roster to not risk injury for a consolation game - it shows the coaches care more for the players' success long-term rather than making a (pointless) point against a hungry UGA team that should've beat Bama. When the CFBP committee basically told FSU that none of your games mattered even though you won every single one of them then why the hell does a pointless bowl game matter at that point even if it's Georgia you're playing who was very eager to end their season with a win after just getting beat, think about it? It could've been Vanderbilt playing against FSU in that game and we still would've had the same amount of opt outs so it had nothing to do with Georgia at all. My man KC was just stating FACTS in the interview! RG3 had to ask him that question about the Orange Bowl and he answered it exactly how he should have plain and simple! This is always going to be a very subjective matter but the bottom line is if FSU had their whole team playing (like Georgia did) especially with J Trav instead of their scout team literally this game would've been a 3 point game one way or the other in my opinion. I'm a die hard Nole fan but I still believe Georgia was the best team in the country last year and if they beat Bama then it would've definitely been FSU vs Georgia in the 1st round of the playoffs no doubt about it. And FSU did EVERYTHING right on the field. Aaaand for the first time ever in college football history, an undefeated P5 champion was left out. We all know there's politics in football, but this was a new low. You can judge them all you want, but this was a first. And it is obvious that it happened due to things outside of football. This had NOTHING to do with the university, teammates, & and fans, but everything to do with an already flawed system that did the unthinkable. Coleman is entitled to his opinion, and I don't fault him for that. No one likes to admit they got their behind handed to them. BUT, the full-strength FSU (minus broken leg Jordan Travis and other injured players) wouldn't have fared much better in the Orange Bowl. And I can say that by directing your attention to FSU v Florida, and FSU v Louisville. Yes, FSU won those 2 games, but struggled mightily in both. And that is the full strength version (minus the injured players) of FSU that would have appeared in the playoffs. What the team was CAPABLE of fielding stood no chance against Georgia, and stood no chance against any of the playoff teams.

Playing the OB game was totally meaningless. It shoujld never have been played. It's like you had a hot date for the prom and then you find out she went to the prom with her ex and the only girl available for you was your sister.
Keon wasn't blaming Georgia! He was pointing out how things would have been differnet if Georgia won. A lot of people have taken shots against FSU for all the starters that opted out of playing. It had nothing to do with their toughness. They did everything they were told they needed to do to be in the CFP. "Win ad you're in." Then they got shafted and at that point you had a lot ofp layers with nothing left to prove thinkng about the rest of their lives in hte NFL. Why risk injury to play a meaningless game and ruin your future? If you've ndver had it happen to you, then don't throw stones a tthose who did.

  • @jasonrainey3680

Both teams had a great year. The difference is that 9 out of 10 drafted players from FSU were transfer portal guys at some point. Uga had 8 drafted and only one was a portal guy who played 3 years at UGA. They make decisions based on their futures and no one blames them. The bottom line is, the less you have invested in anything the quicker your going to bail...and that's everything in life. There was no sense going in on UGA about one loss....it happens...add his career losses up and then compare with the same time period with UGA...2 good teams this past year that both should have made the playoffs.... and don't dismiss the 2 natty's...that was used against UGA for 40 years..deservedly so... but that has passed. Good luck to all.

  • @johndodd6843

The take is flat out stupid. Stoopid.
Against Florida (#78 in scoring defense, 59 in scoring offense), they win 24-15 and only have 224 yards of total offense (3.9 yards per play). Against Louisville (#35 in scoring defense, #44 in scoring) they win 16-6 and have 220 yards of total offense (3.4 ypp). You know how much of difference Keon "He's a Dog" Coleman made: 4 catches for 19 whole yards. Yet somehow this team was whip Georgia's ass if the quiters hadn't quit? Georgia that was #5 in scoring and #5 in scoring defense?
What nobody ever mentions is that Georgia had about the same number of guys available as FSU did. There weren't any opt outs but because of injury. The 3 highest drafted plays -Bowers, Mims and McConkey - all missed the game. And still beat them 63-3. And didn't even try that hard. Georgia played their 3rd string QB to start the 2nd half and still scored 21 points. Hell, Kirby played a walk on at QB in the 4th qtr and they couldn't stop him either.
"I guess the works will never know who's better between FSU and Georgia" No, the world knows. FSU owns the biggest bowl beat down in NCAA history. And that's a fact.

They did what they needed to do to heal and move on- there is a difference between MAD and DISILLUSIONED.
Those boys weren’t mad they were completely gutted by having something unprecedented happen to them. The foundation of how they played sports, for years, with wins mattering being shook. After fighting through daunting odds of losing not one but two QBs. No they didn’t “feel the same” as UGA going into the bowl and they made choices.
NO ONE can say how other teams would have acted because those teams didn’t live THAT experience.

I agree with Leon 100%! He's right to blame UGA. He's right to blame the CFP committee. Considering the CFP committee's incompetence and bias, if UGA remained undefeated, FSU would've been in the playoffs. It was all out of FSU's hands. They went undefeated in the ACC that had a winning record vs the SEC this season.

Georgia vs FSU 3rd string: 63-3.
Georgia vs. FSU starters: 41- 20.
For Keon to be right, the FSU starters that sat out the game would have had to make up for those 60 points that created the difference between Georgia and FSU.
I think FSU's starters could have minimized the spread, but not by 60 points. Give FSU another 17-20 points if their starters play, and subtract 14-21 from Georgia's eventual total.
That seems realistic if both teams were at full strength.
Good luck to ANY team trying to make up 60 points on a Kirby Smart-led Georgia team. FSU would have made it closer and the Noles had a fantastic season, but Georgia hadn't lost a game in 29 straight before the SEC championship game...FSU wasn't going to magically make up 60 points on a mad Georgia team no matter who the Noles had playing for them.

So let me get this straight.....You going to dog the kid for answering the question? If RGIII doesn't ask, there is no "trash talk" after the fact as its never spoken about. Still what he said was fact to a point. Georgia had something to play for as it LOST to Saban/Bama AGAIN (choked what 3 or more times now) and didn't become SEC Champs. No way Kerby wants to end the season like that...with an L. On the flip side, FSU was ACC Champs and no one wants to address the human aspect of being told that all you hard work is not good enough because you don't have your starting QB. Still found a way to win those games. Georgia did not find a way to win FULLY LOADED. Georgia beat FSU in the bowl game... and they go what? NOTHING....no CFP Championship and No SEC Championship. You play for championships, not street credit. Now I get it, the ACC sucks, but if all Georgia players and fans put as much effort in trashing FSU on the bowl game, then they beat Bama and play Michigan for the Championship. Then they can boast about being a Champion of something, instead of nothing.
