I think Liz's take is entirely different from the emotions of the original because of 2 reasons. 1) Liz has stated she never wants to copy an original 1:1 and that she prefers to add her own interpretations to the songs she covers, she wants people to listen to her version AND the original and 2) she understands that she can't copy Avu's vocal quality and neither can Hakka, thats why she leaned more to her and Hakka's own vocal qualities instead.
Liz's interpretation of Mephisto still makes sense since the dark obsession of Mephisto as a song is just subtext, not in your face. So, her and Hakka's interpretation is more so about admiration and devotion a fan has to their idols, and how that ultimately gave MV Liz the courage to pursue her own dreams to one day also stand on stage with MV Hakka. Tho, of course, considering how different of a take it is, it's entirely up to us whether that take is fitting for the song itself or not.

Fair enough. I was confused when the cover pick a different direction from the original version and quite dissapointed that they don’t try to replicate Avu-chan’s technique.
I personally still adore the original version, but it is still a damn good cover and production.

@@kanade_alter I honestly prefer the cover for the vocal arrangement and the harmonies, but I would be lying if I said that Im not curious how would Liz would go about it with the original interpretation in mind, since I do prefer the darker tone of the original. Hopefully she does an archived karaoke again to sing all of her JP cover songs, since she hasn't done that yet except for Otonablue.

Totally agreed with you, liz has stated that she always does the liz version of songs and thats the way she liked, because doing the same song has no reason or purpose, and definitly not fun

Btw the original singer for mephisto is Avu-chan, QUEENBEE is the name of the band (also Avu-chan's gender is unknow, so most people use they/them or she/her toward her)
