Hi Guys I'm in the UK and fitted a wood stove in the house about 10 years ago. My observations on your install are as follows, only two things don't worry. 1 } I found the flue was best installed with the upper tubes fitted inside the lower, this insured that any moister was contained within the inside therefore not staining the lower tubes on the outside. 2) Put all the ashes on the veggie patch not the driveway, otherwise your food will loose all the minerals from your diet, but your drive will be fit and healthy. Fab videos well done - wonderful family.
When I watched Heath throw the ash on the driveway I yelled out nooo garden mate😊 perhaps he'll do that with the new set up👍my parents replaced their wood stove/oven in the early 50s with and electric oven not long after they regretted doing this as the wood burning oven heated the house during the cold winters.
He has small garden boxes, im sure he doesnt want them full of ash. I bet he has planty of ash throughout the year to keep his little garden full of enough ash.
Oh my goodness, I remember when you got your first stove. My family loves watching you. I don't often log on to tell ya, but you guys are awesome! We moved from California to Tennessee last year and we are so glad we did!
God it’s 6 years already, I found your channel as you started the build and loved seeing you move in , since my husband died 2 years nearly, as we were -panning something similar in Bulgaria, [cheap land] for decent summers for our parrots who fly outside, Irish summers don’t always come , so that won’t happen now, it’s left little time for TH-cam,either watching or posting … I bet the kids are huge in the 2 years I’ve not been watching..I had to search it’s been so long…lucky I love poppies so remembered the name..u had rugar the dog when I watched,. Do you still have him ?
That stove looks just like the one I was able to purchase from Lopi after they were finished with it in their development lab in 1987. You will really like yours. We used it to heat our home for 30 years. It was still burning well and cleanly when we sold the house in 2017. The only maintenance I needed to do was replace an angle iron frame that held some ceramic bricks in place above the firebox. It was oxidized away by the heat after almost 20 years. The bricks were heated by the fire and once the stove damper was closed, the smoke was pulled to the front of the stove where it then washed over the upper side of the hot bricks in the presence of heated air to cause a secondary burn of the smoke. I cleaned the chimney twice in the time we used it and never had more than 1/8" of creosote build up. We burned dry Douglas Fir. By the way, the name Lopi is pronounced with a long I sound at the end. Your channel has been an inspiration to follow.
Kids and grandkids didn’t leave till after 11:00 pm. Thought about sneaking out to barn and watching your video but, I just enjoy my grandkids so much. I don’t have that much time left to enjoy them and I want them to have good memories of their grandpa. Love the new wood stove. See ya in a week. God’s blessings be upon you all.
JudithB Love my old Grandpa Bear stove and have used it nearly 48 yrs now!! Nothing like wood stove heat!!! That was a lot of cresote in that top piece. Every month or so I bang on the pipe to bring cresote down and clean it out. I burn hardwoods all the time so not much build up. Snow fall is pretty but glad its up there, we shouldnt get much until Jan!!! LOL!!
Nice upgrade. I had a wood stove fire place insert... but I added some hidden ducts to get the heat upstairs. We had a blower moving air around the back of the stove and into ducts that heated the upstairs. Without those, the downstairs would be at 90 before the upstairs reached 70... but we got it working. Thanks for sharing this with us - now I'll know what brand of stove to look for next time I need one.
We brush our stove pipe every year. We only use stove black. And in future you might want to raise your hearth so box is waist high so when you’re older you won’t have to bend down to load it. 🤗
and the nice thing about switching woodstoves (at least in our country, the netherlands) is that the money you put in to it, pretty much get out of it.. so you can use it for years and years and not worry about losing money on it. Great job, and you got new subscriber for the channel.
Had my first burn of the season yesterday 11/12/2024 in an old Fisher stove. It has the double doors Ike the unit you pulled and 8” stovepipe. Warms the place fantastic! Nice stove and glad you’ll be warm this winter. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
The year before my accident I joined a hunting lease went up there in the stove sucked order a Blaze King ceramic even though I don't belong to their Lodge any longer I still speak to several other people and they say that thing Woburn all night and most of the day shame of it all is I made one trip there bought the stove went and installed the stove and then got in an accident work and now I'm disabled but I did enjoy just sitting on the porch looking at what God created y'all keep up the great work
My Paul used Hopis fireplaces in our house when I was a youngster. And I still use them. I had both of those stalls in a couple of my houses that I rented then a just sold one was a house last year. In our new house we did something different than the fireplace.
Both of my woodstoves, one in my house and one in my workshop, are Jotul stoves and they were both made in the 1980's. My Jotul 8 I bought for $200 over 20 years ago, and at the time a new one cost over a $1,000. My workshop stove is a Jotul 3 and it easily heats 1,100 sq feet. Used stoves are the way to go if you're frugal. :)
have followed your channel quietly since the first framing, have run a canadian [cfn] stove with cervini double wall piping ,have been tickled with its efficancy and low ash ,have replaced the upper ceramic board once ,and have had to pad weld the door opening once to insure a good door seal,i burn dogwood mostly [theres a bad dogwood blight] as well as cherry and oak ,its a stove simialer in size to what you now have ,and it heats 3400 sq. feet very nicely ,in kentucky so not as harsh as where you are at,.its set on the second floor but between the cathedral ceilings ceiling fans and open floor pan it works nice and cuts my flue length down to 10ft from stove to cap versus 28 ft if installed down stair ,its a hillside home with second story and 10/12 pitch .also this alowwed me to install it 3 feet from the back door .[cuts down on the mess].as far as insulation, thers 1in of foam under the slap,2in of foam on underground concret walls,6in exterior walls with 1in of foam on outside,14in rafters [that was pricy] so i could get more insulation, steel insulated doors,5/8 thermopain glass picture windows, front of house faces southwest to get the radiant sun effect, and minimun windows on north face.really enjoy your channel and the openess of showing your family and the goods and not so good days,be blessed
Nice upgrade I’ve always had wood stoves. And as you’ve discovered, each one has a “personality”. They are like a good friend, look after them, they look after you.
I have a lopi evergreen. I got it in 2023. It's very efficient and I got a rebate from the government for buying it. It's very efficient. I love the stove. Doesn't use much wood.
That's pretty impressive for 4 years of soot. I check mine every year, but only sweep it every couple years and it's no worse than your is. I've never heard the name directly from the company, but my stove dealer calls it Low-Pie. However it's pronounced, they're amazing stoves!
I was so entranced while watching this video, I forgot to comment. What a LOVELY stove. The old one was lovely as well with the decorative etching on the glass. But this one looks really cute there. I bet you will not use as much wood with this one. Gratz. Well done!!!
Wow, has it been that long already... I remember when you and the lovely wife (Ceder, sorry if I spelt her name wrong) went shopping for the last stove / fire place.
I have looked forward to another great episode all week, this one with the old stove brought back memories of our old wood stove we had in San Diego growing up. Thx Heath. Cheers from India, I am here on business and glad I was able to catch up.
Wood burning stoves are awesome. Like u i have plenty of trees and after the hurricanes here in Florida I have plenty of wood to use!! All my neighbors are stacking debris on the roadsides, I burn mine or cook with it. All free energy minus the gathering part which is a more than fair trade off where everything cost more than it should!!
Those pipes across the top of the burn chamber will make a big difference. Known as afterburners. They inject air into the unburnt gasses that would normally disappear up the chimney, giving you more heat output, less smoke, and less tar build up in the chimney. definitely a worthy upgrade...
Bought our 1200sqft home in 06 and someone had installed a buck fireplace insert, but it was in a small room in the corner of the house. Year before last we bought a 1977 fisher grandpa bear stove and installed it in the living room to a new 8" stainless steel chimney we installed. Its not super efficient, but our old drafty house stays super toasty. I need to clean ours up and put some stove black on it,but itll be fine for now.
I've always expected Heath to eventually upgrade the house and shop to a wood boiler that feeds both. A nice wood stove does add an extra ambiance to the house though.
That stove is pretty nice. Kind of reminds me of the one that we had when I was a kid it had a front load and a side load. And also it had where you could go from the top or from the back. For the chimney flu.
bought that exact same stove in '04 and it's still going strong! You're right, it's pronounced low-pie 👎 Definitely worth getting the blower accessory. Keep an eye on the reburner tubes at the top of the firebox, they have pins that hold the correct orientation for the perforated tubes to add air to the firebox but those pins shear easily and the tubes end up pointing in less than optimal directions @Heath.
Enjoyed the video. We had a Lopi years ago when we lived in Wisconsin. Worked very well in our tri level home and just like you mentioned, we would have to open some windows at times also!
We have two Endeavor Lopi in our houses. I would never buy another brand. 30 years of winter heating and hundreds of chords of wood over the years. Replace the Fire bricks periodically and the second heat burner tubes every few years. Super cheap to heat our 3000 sq/ft houses. P.S. don't use a flue damper to control the stove. Use the second air control pull out lever.
I love wood heat being the heart of a home. My to-do list is a home up in the western slopes of the Cascades, and I know what brand of wood stove I will be shopping for. Thank you, Wolfmama 0104
I can’t believe I have been watching since the first stove!!!!
I realized that too. Man, time flys.
Me to , he looked young back then 😂😮
Me too! And Heath looked a lot younger.
Same here. Seeing old empty house and young Heath is strange in a way.
Same here!
Pronounced Low-pie and means beauty, strength and independence in Native American culture

two warm hearts and a warm stove keep the family joyful all winter

Personally I never use paint on my stove. I always use "Stove Black".
He said he was just giving the paint a try. I can respect that.

My Paul used Hopis fireplaces in our house when I was a youngster. And I still use them. I had both of those stalls in a couple of my houses that I rented then a just sold one was a house last year. In our new house we did something different than the fireplace.
🙋♀️❤️. Looks great! Stay toasty! I imagine you'll use the old one in the workshop/guesthouse!
❤the new stove.
I was too busy to comment on that.
Good to see Ruger again 😢.
That big single window really brings the fire into the room, Looks great!

Nice upgrade

Nice stove! I'm patiently waiting for a Lopi Liberty to be listed, once I see it, I will pounce on it.
That stove looks like it should have been there all along. It's beautiful 😍
Love the new stove Heath and Cedar!🧡🍁💛
Nice job on the stove.
Just like the wood burner so much when heating your home! 😊
Hey Heath you sure know what to do to make a difference with things, and I know that Cedar’s gonna love that wood stove. Blessings! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Cedar you're home so cozy and warm. Love it.
Love the “new” wood stove Heath, you certainly did an excellent job on it. ❤😊🇬🇧👍

The new one looks great. A cozy, warm home.
We count our years in stoves here!

That is a pretty stove. I like the gold accent on the door. Another job well done.😊
Thanks again for your time making the video watching from Reno NV
I really like this new stove!
I love the newer old stove, especially with the gold around the door 🥰.
According to Google it is low pie. Which means beauty and strength hope that helps
Thank you for this! What a wonderful meaning for a wood stove.
Love your videos. Please keep them coming.
Good evening RPR 😊
Wow, has it been that long already... I remember when you and the lovely wife (Ceder, sorry if I spelt her name wrong) went shopping for the last stove / fire place.
Hello from Texas, happy Sunday!!
It was so nice to see old Ruger :)
I have looked forward to another great episode all week, this one with the old stove brought back memories of our old wood stove we had in San Diego growing up. Thx Heath.
Cheers from India, I am here on business and glad I was able to catch up.
Love the new stove
Thanks for sharing your home with us for a bit, nice to see you are getting things ready for winter. We are too.
Thanks for the video you two love birds. Love the new stove.
Thanks and GOD BLESS 😊
Charcoal is amazing fertilizer for your garden. Don’t throw it away on the road like that 😊
Thanks for the efforts!
We have the same endeavor stove, was the top of the line in 96 when it was put in. Great stove still.
Best cozy heat comes from wooden fire stoves. 😊
Get a pair of shoulder dolly - the two of you could lift those stoves like nothing! Handy tool to have around the home.
Nice looking stove! The house is amazing.
Like the new stove. 👍
Nice!! I grew up with a Blaze King, nothing like wood heat!
❤ beautiful wood stove ❤

Amazing Skid steer skills Heath! Nice job as always keep the great content coming! God Bless 🙏
There's something about the smell of wood-burning stoves.
I didn't know i missed Ruger so much❤
Here in south Alabama our low tonight is suppose to get a touch under 70, which means my AC will probably still be running.
😄
You are so wonderful ❤❤😊😊
eff Salt Lake County,Utah no burn days;..I will burn wood when I decide...!

And a great video
Brasso will clean that trim right up!!!
New stove is pretty

How handy are those skidsteers👍
Nice work.

ASH DRAGONS WORK GREAT TO CLEAN OUT WOOD STOVES YOU WILL BE HAPP YOU GOT ONE!
Hi From Russia, amazing I remember when you installed that stove. Why not look into external burner to feed heat to house and the shop?
