As much as its been a nightmare football wise, Charlton still have one of the best academies in English football, and probably hands down the best community trust program in the country.
And for what I am 77 and have been following Charlton since the late 50s All they do is SELL emerging players to more ambitious clubs In fact in the 60s we were called 'the stock exchange' Our last sell on was the leagues top goal scorer Alfie May Us oldies have seen it all before and success wont come until the club has a culture of holding onto star players and not sell. I wont hold my breath And not for long these days anyway
I live my club and Charlton is in my opinion an unsung hero of English football!! I’m sure we will be back at the top table we just need Stability come on you addicts!!!
This is what feels like the turning point for us now, SE7 partners seem decent enough to run the club properly and jones is the real deal, but we can’t be sure yet
Yes, Charlton started to struggle more after Curbishley departed. He may not have been spectacular, but he was stability. I've only ever been to Charlton's ground twice, but neither occasion was a football match: I went to a Who concert there in the 70s and som,e nutty religious convention in the 60s.
7:41 Not to mention all the social media clashes that Southall and Nimer had with one another (and how Southall claimed he was still “Charlton Athletic Owner” even after he was removed on his Twitter bio I think) One of the biggest ownership clown shows I’ve ever seen.
Not much sign of a return to the Championship, let alone the PL ! Really sad it's our fifth consecutive season in the third tier and testament to the shitshow of useless owners, managers, and players we've seen.
@@lutontown5923 There is a new docco/film, here in Australia called 'How to run a football club' 'Its about the Central Coast Marriners FC in the A League They run on a shoe string and while they turn over a lot of players seem to have the knack of replacing them with the same or even better every season , There are big spenders/recruiters in this League ,in Sydney City, Melbourne Victory and above all Melbourne City ,Of the City group And the Marriners always seem to top these teams. TBF i havn't seen it yet, But perhaps us Charlton Supporters and soccer aficonados might learn something

I always feel for clubs with despicable owners, having to deal with The Oystons almost killed us! UTMP!

WHO ?
@@paulgearing3018 It was way back: Keith Moon was still alive and playing.
As a fan , sadly it has been awful over the years.
A well documented video 😮.
Thank you!

Excellent video
One slight detail is that Charlton were relegated in 15-16, not 16-17

Can you do one on Huddersfield please
Yes I will definitely look into this one!
How about How to run a football club ft Wrexham? (If we get promoted this season, then u gotta make this video, deal?)
Yes for sure! I'm definitely planning on doing the opposite to this series and Wrexham will be one of them! Any other suggestions?
Anyone can run a club when bank rolled😂😂😂. No achievement there im afraid.
Fuck off Wrexham. No one cares about your Disney clown show bullshit.
