Gridlife Midwest Festival was our first event in the R32 GTR. We were very unsure of what to expect from the car since we have never made it through a full track day... to our surprise, the car ABSOLUTELY SHREDS!! Day 1 was an absolute success. I show you guys the new JDM Top Secret front lip, APR Performance front splitter, and all the parts I got from Japan on my trip. We also get to do some track testing before the real sessions start.

Might sound weird but is anyone else just extremely proud of how far Dustin has come in the past year or so? Mans is killing it with the content, not to mention the fact that he learned a new language, went to that country and spoke with locals about their experiences and cars, and got the attack32 up and running for this event? Unfortunate on the miss shifts but it's honestly great to see you putting your mistakes in the videos man. No shying away from failure which ultimately leads to learning and success. Great content brother.
A sequential transmission would probably suit this perfectly as a track car but its definitely worth waiting a little bit tho if fourth gear is still manageable to shift in and out of. Plus, you could get an average lap time with the tradition transmission, so it can be compared with lap times if its ever replaced by a sequential box later on . Great vid tho bro keep up the great work, the on-board track clips are fireee 🔥

Have you and Tim thought about doing a quick release set up for your front bumper, just seeing you and Tim having to remove the splitter everytime you need to go under the car! Would make it so much easier for those times when you need to go under the car!

missing gears is normally a sign of worn synchros, there are a few things for you to look into. Does the shift get worse or better with higher oil temperature. Does it still miss shift if you slow down your shifting. Experiment with rev matching, less rpm change between gears means less work for the synchros. Don't use a short shifter either, the quicker change will create more issues. Try the stock shifter because that long stick might be causing all the problems. Changing to a different oil or adding an additive can help stretch out the life of tired synchros.

Dude Dustin, swap a sequential in. You'll never regret it! Only 2 things if the trans is good. When you pull out of 5th be light with your wrist and push down smoothly. If you're rigid it's going to feel tight. Loosen up. You just need more seat time. What made me a better driver than most of my friends back in the day wasn't having a better car. It was seat time. I sat in my grandparents 86 Toyota pickup and just pretended to drive. Shifting and making revving noises and all. Muscle memory. I've driven a lot of Nissan manuals and rhd if you're not use to shifting from the right side with your left hand I can guarantee you're just a bit rigid and need to loosen up

Just a heads up on the Kansai tow hook, how it is mounted will cause it to flex up and down with any type of pressure. Which will cause it to push against the front lip.

Since you're racing the gtr, you should replace the higher and lower hoses thats compatible to higher temp pressure that wont bubble
Dustin, for the grinding in and out of gears redline heavy shockproof fixed my problem instantly. Might work in your case too.

Great choice switching over to distilled water at the end of the video. If you ever have a leak on track, it wont be slippery for other drivers since it will just evaporate. I'm sure you got a bottle of water wetter to run with it. You should see cooler temps. Can't wait to watch the next video.

Could be your CMC causing the hard shifts at higher RPM
Love Japan videos and the videos right after Japan because you are full of inspiration and it shows in the first week or two after you come back from the trip. You should probably make that trip twice a year occurrence.

Replace any and all clamps anywhere in the coolant system that look like those at 24:58 with band clamps.

I have a Cube short shifter for mine and I love it. I was tired of first gear being in the glove box. Lol. Cube shifters is out of Australia.

Stop running coolant, distilled water and water wetter, Higher boiling temp and it’s not slippery when you leak in track. Other than that, 1:44 is a great time at Gingerman.

Great content! Love watching this type of video’s. For the shifter issue it’s probably best to ditch the lenghty shiftknob. I noticed more or less the same issue. The stock short one will be far more better because the throw doesn’t get extended. Of the throw gets extended it mostly give a vage feeling and thus makes it shifting worse. I would look for something like a cae shifter if you want the tall shifter position because these reduce the throw aswell and give a crisp and conected feel. You will feel better the gates maybe install some poly bushings at the transmission mount. This will prevent stuff from moving around while shifting.
The car looked and sounded amazing in person. Fyeahspec engine bay looked perfect.

A sequential gearbox would do you so well with the issues you've been having. To be fair- this is your first real time tracking that gearbox, so I'm sure you'll get better with it.. but definitely something to consider moving forward.

If you don’t already have a head drain and oil feed restrictor to the head you need to get on that ASAP, that is a huge amount of oil in the catch can after only 2 sessions. RBs are notorious for getting oil trapped in the head at high RPM because there is too much flow to the head and it can’t drain it fast enough, for any RB that sees track time you absolutely need to have the head drain and restrictor.

Could be a faulty radiator cap causing too much pressure? Maybe try go down to a lower pressure radiator cap
