I know you all had to wait for so long but here they are, the missing part between Home Free and Pentatonix: VoicePlay! Weird thing how I keep getting surprised by these deep voices over and over again 😂 This was amazing!😄
Thank you for a great reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video of Geoff Castallucci's solo cover.. Sounds Of Silence.. Geoff is the bass singer in Voice Play. Check out Geoff's channel. He always clones himself 3 or 4 times so he can harmonize with himself.
All Some of Voice Plays best cover songs are .. Carry On Wayward Son.. Dream On .. Eleanor Rigby..Mr. Blue Sky...Halo, the theme song from the Halo video game. The composer of the theme song said it was amazing & the best he ever heard....Voice Play are known as The Theater Kids of a capella. Sometimes they are dressed in full costume according to the song. They worked for Disney for many years performing shows in their younger years. I guess you could say that was the start of their theatrics in a lot of their videos. They do everything themselves from arrangements, costumes, set design, lighting, producing, & editing. They are their own boss , they don't work for anyone & they don't block any of their videos.
Welcome to the VoicePlay 🐇 hole. You will not be sorry for taking this journey! I've subscribed with the hope you'll continue reacting to VP and Geoff's own channel. Great reaction
Left to right: Geoff Castellucci -bass. Also has a solo channel. J.None- guest baritone, but is also a former member of the group, he is currently serving in the Navy Eli Jacobson- rock tenor Cesar de la Rosa - baritenor Layne Stein- beatboxer, baritone and violin.
Really enjoyed your reaction to my very favorite acapella group. To me, they are the best! Suggestions: Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - astounding and the center tenor is a rocking beast I Can't Make You Love Me - will break your heart We Don't Talk About Bruno - Disney fun, even if you haven't seen Encanto (I haven't) Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay
I plead guilty making sure you were introduced to the holy trinity of acapella. Voiceplay is best known for anything in full costume and complete productions. Anything Halloween themed, musical, or video game scores they own. Oogie Boogie Hall of the Mountain King Queen in 5 minutes Halo
Welcome to the best bass, Geoff Castellucci, one of the best beatboxers, Layne Stein, best tenors, Eli Jacobson (bald guy), best baritones, J.None (black guy, second from left), and best baritenors, Cesar de La Rosa (bearded afro-Latino) in the a cappella world.
Welcome to voiceplay. The line up from left to right is geoff says he is a baritone that can sing low, he has his own channel and just done the sound of silence. Next is jnone baritone he has left for the navy and cones back when he can. Eli rock tenor extrodinar, cesar voice of an angel and finally layne amazing beat boxer, also has an amazing voice. They have just done golden hour and it's an amazing version. Other ones lots of Disney, I love the triology of trapped, then panic at the disco part 1 and 2 as they have a story.
VoicePlay are normally known for being the "theatre kids" of a capella, and often they are more theatrical, but here they show that they are capable of covering songs in any genre, including orchestral as in In the Hall of the Mountain King which is also theatrical. Geoff Castellucci, the bass, has his own channel of low bass covers which are equally outstanding. When you consider that the arrangements are done by either Layne the beatboxer (who also sings and plays violin), or Geoff the bass, and they do the singing, the sets, the filming, the editing, and just about everything else, they put out a new video every month, as does Geoff on his own channel. They work very hard and deserve to be much better known. Suggestions often depend on personal taste but Hoist The Colours will always come up. and maybe Queen in Five Minutes or Boy Bands in Five Minutes.
Great reaction, thanks! I'm with you, I don't know what's easy or hard with beatboxing- but for me, I don't much care. What impresses me about Layne's beatboxing is that it's innovative, tasty - and always tasteful. He knows when to hold back or even go quiet, and when to blaze out there. I find that it's a crucial part of musicianship and not nearly as common as technique. Perhaps because it's about art, not craft, and is harder to practice and discern.
Lots of good suggestions already! As I said, VoicePlay are the theatre kids of a capella. They do lots of songs and medleys from movies (mainly Disney) and video games, plus other medleys. They are currently down to four members and usually feature one guest singer, they like to have fun in their videos, and they always do something for Halloween. Where to go next depends a bit on where your interests lie, although like Home Free they'll give you something good whatever (I didn't know this song for instance and still loved it). I'd say pick some you know from the following lists to start with, but try all of them eventually: Halloween: Oogie Boogie's Song (possibly my absolute favourite) Disney: We Don't Talk About Bruno, Moana Medley, Little Mermaid Medley Pirates and Vikings: Hoist the Colours, My Mother Told Me, The Dragonborn Comes Music: Queen in 5 Minutes, Dream On, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes There's plenty more. Also, the basses you've seen (Geoff, Tim, Avi) are all friends and share techniques with each other - Geoff started his career as a tenor(!) and has particularly said how much he owes to Tim in developing his lower voice. And Eli, the guy in the middle, is pronounced like the girl's name Ellie (eh-lee), not ee-lye as you might guess. Enjoy!
Liked and subscribed. You did my favorite song - what can I say other than that VoicePlay has over 800 videos and there isn't a bad one in the bunch and Geoff (our amazing bass) does solo work which shouldn't be passed up either. If you want to hear Layne (aka VioLayne) do the only other song with full violin, try Warriors. J None, #2 guy here, also does a few lines of violin work as well. Follow up Warriors with Dream On. While there are a couple of years between them and we lost two members, Earl (high tenor in Warriors and an original member from high school days), and J None (currently in the US Navy and comes back when on leave, like here). VoicePlay has replaced one of the people in Cesar (#4 here) and uses guest vocalists for the empty slot. Eli (rhymes with jelly) is our rock tenor with great range and the ability to transform his voice. Some to consider: Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Hoist the Colours, Tennessee Whiskey, Oogie Boogie's Song, and I Can't Make You Love Me.
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole! You picked an excellent place to dive in. Liked, subscribed and looking forward to more. These guys just released a bizarre but beautiful new video today, would love to see you react to it! Also highly recommended, just for starters: Hoist the Colours, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Dream On and their Moana Medley. Their bass singer at the far left, Geoff Castellucci, in addition to supercharging the awesome you get with these guys, has his own channel filled with amazing solo work; he recently dropped a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence that will knock your socks off, check it out! His covers of Ghost Riders In the Sky and Sixteen Tons, amongst many others, are not to be missed! Next to him is J.None, a former full-time member who is currently in the Navy and still joins them as a guest vocalist when he's on leave. In the middle is Eli Jacobson, who previously sang with a rock band and often lends them that distinctive rock rasp where needed. Number four is Cesar De La Rosa, who is the most recent full member to join; as you noted, he has the loveliest voice and emotes like crazy, but don't let his calm in this video fool you. It's such a big departure from his usual playful, bouncy behavior that it had some of us a little bit worried when we first saw this. Layne Stein at the far right (aka VioLayne, when he summons that instrument on special occasions,) in addition to being their beatboxer, arranges many of their songs (as does Geoff) and co-owns the facility where they do a lot of their filming.
