2014 - 2018 BMW X5 F15 outside door handle replacement. This hack saved me four hours.

2014-2018 BMW X5 and other models outside door handle replacement.
No need to take off the inside door panel to replace the handle. This hack saved me what others have claimed as 4 hours to remove and re-install the inside panel.
Could not find a video for this replacement so I’m posting this.
The video skills are poor but hope it helps people out and saves time for all.
Once latched make sure to screw the lock cylinder retainer as it ensures the handle remains latched. I didn’t do that the first time, tested the handle a few times and it came loose again.

The outer shell of the door-handle is missing because I bought one from car-part.com for $40 with a different color and wanted to make sure I could replace it before swapping the original color handle shell back.

So you just looped the fishing line over the latch (between the two hook) and pulled it to adjust the handle into the position right? I just replaced the bulb on the handle which burned out at -30C last winter. Found your video while been hustling to put it back in…

They have some clips that you can pry off. This tool pictured at about 0:57 is very helpful for that task and is $2.00

BMW still makes door handles and window mechanisms, water leaks.. that are prone to fail.....when they state ..engineered like no other....it suggests they have engineers that are highly skilled in creating intrinsic failures

Hey , Thanks for the vid any clue how to remove JUST the Lock Cylinder, mines broke, Got the handle removed but any way just removing the cylinder and not the whole carrier ?

Not sure about replacing just the lock cylinder
