  • Hello and welcome back to the channel of our European travels in our VW camper van.
In this video we visit the Valentin Submarine pens which were built by the Germans to aid their war effort in the 1940’s. 1600 people lost their lives building these structures and the place is now a memorial to them.
Later that day we enter Denmark and call at Rømø beach. It was very busy and so we headed to our campsite at Marsk Camp then returned to a much quieter Rømø the next morning.
Leaving the beach we took a short cut which took us along a corduroy road. Not only was this enough to shake your teeth out, and the table off its hinges but it as worsened by us having inflated the tyres to 50psi to attempt to even out a wobble the van had developed.
We had a short stop at a lovely old town called Ribe before heading to our over night at Esbjerg for The Men by the Sea sculpture and a supermarket top up.
We spent the evening watching the wake boarders go up and down the water next to us.
The next morning on the way to Tirpitz bunker we were pulled by the police to do a passport check. After call around the bunker and a coffee and bun in the cafe we called at Blåvandshuk Lighthouse and walked to Denmarks most westerly point.
Onwards to Vejers beach for lunch then to the Elliptical Bridge at Filsø for a little walk. We camped up at a small wooded parking area not too far from Filsø where we managed an alfresco shower before anybody else came to camp for the night.
