"George, the British Empire at present covers a quarter of the globe, while the German Empire consists of a small sausage factory in Tanganyika. I hardly think that we can be entirely absolved of blame on the imperialistic front."
I'm loving the interactions between the Germans and Africans. Where one guy gives some DAK troops some food or fruit here, the men are so taken with the items of Afrika. Exchanges and interactions had between people who never met before. Love that show of civility between Germans and Afrikans, even if they're the occupying forces
@@sanich0811 lol, look for , what all countries, that had colonies did with native people) U will be shocked about Belgium "regime" thorough out their colonialism))
Yeah, it's like associating Korobeiniki (a Russian empire era song) with the oppression and cruelty of the Soviet government just because it was a popular song amongst troops of the Red Army. Or like pairing The Yellow Rose of Texas with the southern Confederacy since it was popular for many of the people who lived in the south. It's often better to remember the time and occasion for these songs, and the messages they give, instead of arbitrary associations made based on who sang them.
Germanys colonies weren't exploited. You'll find many, many supporters of Germany in today's Namibia, because unlike the Brits and French, the Germans actually built up these lands.
@@oellappen269 Plus there a reason why the these loyalty of Askari was never questioned. Because the German know how to handle and respect for those fight under them unlike the British. I mean well they have Prussian military tradition so of course they respect their soilder.

Same here, check out rote flieger or fliegermarsch, those are two hiden gems.
Vorbeck was a tactical giant. I do like this Afrika Korps twist to the song. Well done!

Everybody acting like this is a WWIII song when it's from WWI.
Yes it is but it was also used by the Deutsches Afrika Kors (DAK) in WW2 as well
@@super-kamarigaming7907 It was still written in WWI.

I didn’t know Germany will be going back to Africa in WW3… I suppose it makes sense, the Germans do love a good colonial campaign as a side quest

This is a song of WWI, why do you show pictures of WWII ???
'Cause it was sung in WW2 too, just like many pre-ww2 songs.

Should have used Great War footage. Wrong war shown!

The English ones don't. Which is often the case when you literally translate the lyrics of a foreign language song.
A lot of this footage is of Italians
