    If I was looking for a folding rack this would be the one. I love this design and the idea of having some assistance when folding or unfolding the rack. PRX’s facility is an hour away. I plan to make a trip there in the near future. Very much looking forward to seeing it in person. They are making some awesome equipment. Thanks so much for the great review.

  • @peaksix_
    @peaksix_ 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

    I'm glad to see this doesn't suffer the same design flaw as almost every other foldable rack. At 12:19 you can see that it's capable of being lifted up and down. This is essential because other (poorly designed) racks don't do that, which prevents the feet from planting firmly on the ground. Instead, the rack (and all the weight) is basically suspended from the wall, cantilevered out from the hinge. It means that you have to install those racks at the *perfect* height so that the feet barely skim the ground while folding (and god help you if your floor is uneven) and it'll only make contact with the floor once you put weight on it and it's bent downward.

      Would this be an issue on the Prx Profile racks as well that fold down vertically?

    • @peaksix_
      @peaksix_ 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@-m7778 I don't know how the mechanism / hinge on those are designed, but since it's meant to move in the up/down direction already, I suspect it would be ok.

    I'd like to know how far it sticks out from the wall when retracted, and compared to PRX's fold up and the Rogue folder.

  • @bmstylee
    @bmstylee 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

    It's nice. It's not $2500 nice. Especially when you have the Rogue option for over $1000 less. And as Coop said most of these don't get folded up so it's a lot of money for a hinge that doesn't get used by a lot of the users.

    • @andersonhirt
      @andersonhirt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      To be fair, the prx system is spring loaded so it's easier to fold away. That being said, I would probably get squat stands over any foldaway rack if I had no space.

    I am looking at the Athena Wall mount with dual selectorized (Added weights) pulley system. With Spotter arms and and band attachments, you get a small system with a functional trainer. Being mounted to the wall seems to add stability as well as the selectorized weights. Adding the seat attachment will allow for pull downs and low rows. More expensive, but what I’m looking for.

  • @c.simmons2147

    I feel like they should come out with an attachment for pinning the arms together so you can use the side that faces out when folded in for things you might need a post for like dip bars or some pull up bars. Adds more functionality while also allowing more space for people with little space to work with.

    I was about to order this rack during black Friday, but when you added the shipping costs, the deal did not equal its competitors' prices. I still haven't decided and am waiting for a Christmas miracle to purchase this rack because I'm looking forward to all the upcoming accessories. My gym would have to go in my basement, so my choices are limited. Thanks for your honest reviews, and if PRX can give you a special code for free shipping over a certain amount, I would purchase my entire gym from them.😅

    Hi Coop, love the video (and the channel as a whole)!
    Could you please review the new Major Lutie Lightning F35 Folding Power Rack? I know the quality of Major Lutie isn't the greatest, but I'm really intrigued with the ability of the post width to be adjusted to allow for wider cable flies as I can't stand doing flies with cables on normal power racks with widths of 47"/49". Thanks!

    Also, the REP PR-4000 uses 5/8th inch holes. If you want to add a nice pull system, the REP Lat/Low Row system may work with this (as would other PR 4000 accessories, I'd guess).

    I need a place to store weight plates (up to 50 lbs) with 1 inch holes. I would like to have detachable weight pegs for both the rear posts. The radius of a 50 lb plate is about 8 inches. To accommodate them, the holes in the rear posts would need to be about 10 inches away from the wall. Otherwise, this rack is a step in the right direction.

If you plan on storing it weekly or daily, this is the only viable option. If you’re David Goggins and enjoy doing something tedious before and after every workout to build character, fine, get the rogue but it’s just not realistic for most people

    Coop what is the general loading capacity for studs? I was contemplating how safe my current setup is having 2 pairs each of 10-25kg plates plus an extra pair of 25kg plates on 4 rogue stringers across two studs. With this having the mass so far away from the wall, how much stress is this putting on load bearing studs and how close to failure could these take studs to start splintering?

    They should’ve matched width and height of Rep. Doing their own dimensions is a killer in my opinion. The size of their eco system and the cost just isn’t justifiable. I used to own their fold down rack and loved it but ultimately sold it and got a Rep PR-5000 and couldn’t be happier.

That said, I do like the rack, so I could be persuaded... but I already have a Rep 4000, which takes up a lot of space... Maybe? Of course, that extra $1k could buy a lot of weights or a new computer or a few electronic toys for the gym.
      I'm hoping they have a plan where they will lower the price in the future once enough of them sell to pay off the R&D costs. That is likely a large chunk of the price.

    For that price you can get that rack that turns into a bed, and just have your rack in your bedroom instead of your garage. It also doesn't have 1 inch holes, so I am out. Skewing away from standardization for literally no reason other than "tiny hole is strong enough you don't need big hole" is an idiotic take on engineering.
