Believe me, I've been a fan for years and can understand Korean well enough to know this video is very exaggerated. Korea actually respects her more & pays more attention to her than international K-pop fans. It was really the poor management & promotion that ended up hurting her career, along with long hiatuses between music releases. I also admit that she should've made better creative choices to appeal to the general public, as well.

After this video, I immediatley went back to listening to her Butterfly album, which I bought even though I normally only buy Dreamcatcher albums. And it's just so good! I completely agree with you! While it's true that looks are a huge part of kpop, it's now at another level. I recently finished watching JYP's Nizi project. These 13 to 19yr old girls just worked hard to improve in dance, singing while JYP also required STAR POWER and great PERSONALITY! yet a lot of comments were about how pretty/super visual the winners will be with Kpop makeup for debut 😭😱🤢 I felt a pit in my stomach reading that. In Japan it's more about charms than being super pretty for idols and just being talented for artists and LDH idols while being attractive isn't necessary or just extra frosting on the cake. it's so disappointing that (nowadays)the Hallyu wave in Japan results in them(commenters) looking forward to the visuals in Kpop before great songs, dances or entertainment in variety shows.At least the English comments of International fans showed a lot of support for the girls and enthusiasm on how they'll do in JYPE!

Her body was never the issue with her career, this video is really inaccurate with the way Korea actually sees her. She's more respected and liked in Korea than she is internationally. It was her ex-company that barely promoted her and poorly managed things along with bad creative choices, which led to a decrease of her popularity. Trust me, I've been a fan for years & can follow things in Korean.

Since this whole outbreak of the virus, i've fallen in a black hole of Kpop related videos, they're very talented & entertaining individuals, i'm quite surprised how well they get along and bounce their quirkiness of of each other in groups. If your body only loses weight when you only eat 500 calories a day, then your body doesn't want to lose weight. Or you have a legitimate health issue like PCOS. This poor girl has this angelic voice and ppl can't just enjoy that and treat her like a damn human being.
People who claim to only eat 500 calories per day and aren't losing, are Iying. You expend at least 1500 calories each day through your base metabolism and just by walking and talking and stuff. If you take in less calories than that, your body will use energy from fat deposits. You can't burn more calories than you take in and not lose weight.

She is literally skinny even when she has a "fuller figure".... some idols just can't win. The K-Pop fandom is like an abusive relationship; when you seem perfect, the idol gets love bombed, but any insignificant human flaw is noticed and the idol gets completely demonized and bullied....and the cycle continues over and over. After this video, I immediatley went back to listening to her Butterfly album, which I bought even though I normally only buy Dreamcatcher albums. And it's just so good! I completely agree with you! While it's true that looks are a huge part of kpop, it's now at another level. I recently finished watching JYP's Nizi project. These 13 to 19yr old girls just worked hard to improve in dance, singing while JYP also required STAR POWER and great PERSONALITY! yet a lot of comments were about how pretty/super visual the winners will be with Kpop makeup for debut 😭😱🤢 I felt a pit in my stomach reading that. In Japan it's more about charms than being super pretty for idols and just being talented for artists and LDH idols while being attractive isn't necessary or just extra frosting on the cake. it's so disappointing that (nowadays)the Hallyu wave in Japan results in them(commenters) looking forward to the visuals in Kpop before great songs, dances or entertainment in variety shows.At least the English comments of International fans showed a lot of support for the girls and enthusiasm on how they'll do in JYPE!

Her body was never the issue with her career, this video is really inaccurate with the way Korea actually sees her. She's more respected and liked in Korea than she is internationally. It was her ex-company that barely promoted her and poorly managed things along with bad creative choices, which led to a decrease of her popularity. Trust me, I've been a fan for years & can follow things in Korean.

Since this whole outbreak of the virus, i've fallen in a black hole of Kpop related videos, they're very talented & entertaining individuals, i'm quite surprised how well they get along and bounce their quirkiness of of each other in groups. But the so called fans that belittle them at their own inconvenience and close mindedness really boils my blood. Media outlets are a bunch of pigs who don't realise that the idols pay their bills and not vise-versa.

For me, the weirdest part is that when a trainee talks how they only ate an ice cube a day to lose weight before their debut because their company made them, nobody bats an eye and it's not heavily criticised. But, if an idol (who is not a rookie anymore) would say that they also diet in that way before their comeback, everybody would tear them to pieces saying that they are a bad role model and they have an ED (or promote ED)

I loved Room Shaker but I heard her company barely promoted her and didn’t get her any show spots which is why the song did so badly on the charts. If your body only loses weight when you only eat 500 calories a day, then your body doesn't want to lose weight. Or you have a legitimate health issue like PCOS. This poor girl has this angelic voice and ppl can't just enjoy that and treat her like a damn human being.
People who claim to only eat 500 calories per day and aren't losing, are Iying.
You expend at least 1500 calories each day through your base metabolism and just by walking and talking and stuff.
If you take in less calories than that, your body will use energy from fat deposits.
You can't burn more calories than you take in and not lose weight.
Ailee, you're pretty however you want to look. Your talent is still there and it's what defines you. Stay strong.

I am a new fan of Ailee I first discovered her in 2019 and the very first song I heard from her was To shaker so when I found this video I watched it and I thought her album butterfly was going to be the best album she ever made or at least not the one of the worst but when it said this was one of the worst albums I was so upset and wondering if the reason was because of the rude netizens if it is then the Korean standard for beauty needs to upgrade to accepting every body type.
