      @@ragingpanty no, you have to go through an entirely different process called rigging, and adding weight paint and adding bones... another process that could easily take 20+hrs... lots of work to make a still model move in VR D:

    • @Firestar-rm8df
      @Firestar-rm8df 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@mowsei Actually, if you want nice animations you want to take it a step past just rigging and weight painting, though that is huge and if that is wrong the rest of the animations will also fall apart. You will also want to set up shape keys and shape key blending for animations if you want something to really animate smoothly, and depending on the fidelity you want and the deformations you may want to also retopo certain areas like eyes, ears, and joints unless the model was specifically made with that in mind like in this video. A great example is the knees in this video. if you pay attention to the edge flow of the topology you will notice that it uses a double loop patch to give the correct deformations during animation. That topology specifically makes weighting simple meshes far easier. There are other patches for elbows and THICC body parts too to add volume. Edge flow can actually have a pretty large effect on the animation and the flow in this mesh is masterful. The only thing I might edit is the elbow joint as they simply used a double loop again which I think works better for knees. I really like the pixar elbow joint topology with subsurf. It looks like it shouldn't work, but the effect when animating is actually really slick. And then all the bones have to be properly named and constrained for the program you are feeding the mesh to.

    Me, new to Blender and eager to learn how to make a dumb circle into a human, only to see this lad/lass just bloody draw lines to trace the outline first: wHAT FEKKIN MODE IS THAT??? WHAT SORCERY HAVE I MISSED???
    I genuinely think if I understood the program itself better, I'd adore 3D modeling and be willing to put the time in, I just have a hard time grasping the program some, but I suppose if I had some help going into it, I could understand so much faster and actually get deep enough into it to find these sort of functions that'd lead to me making models and such
    Someday, I will. It's part of my life plan, to try and dip my fingers in as many pies art wise as I can, from welding to clay to painting and woodcarving and wood burning, even sewing
    I currently need to get into welding, knitting, 3D modeling/printing, and a few others, but so far, I've actually gotten a lot of that goal down!! Oh, and mold making with said clay at some point would be nice too, and some more electronic knowledge too, as I know the basics of wiring and can sauder to make a controller and such, as well as program, but putting it to use by making custom neon signs and such would be amazing too ^U^
    Think I'll have to get into tutorials for 3D models now, every part of me has been sayin I should

      Not that hard my dude I’ve been using blender for 3 months and just by watching some great tutorials from CGmatter and blender guru I can have my own scene down in a couple of minutes. Don’t try to start with a big project at the beginning like what he did just start simple and I bet you can get it!
