You don't know the huge stigma behind this figure, it's literally an overpriced hunk of panely junk when compared to TE-01 OP which is fucking 1/4's of the price. With the price of this figure you could get a fucking COMBINER! Yes a combiner that's more than 5 times it's size.

I'm surprised the price wasn't mentioned at all. i love the way the figure looks, but for 400 dollars, i just cannot justify a figure with the kinds of issues this thing has. it doesn't feel right to me that they're charging as much as they are with how fragile parts are, especially considering this is more expensive than any other masterpiece figure
About the transformation, anyone before MP 36 Megatron 2.0 has a much easier transformation, and some even have licensed altmodes at the cost of some accuracy. Good picks to go with MP 44: Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave The starscream mould is really outdated but there are very good third party replacements
I would like to see an MP-44+ G1 Optimus Prime where his paint scheme is accurate to the '80's G1 Optimus Prime figure. I would also like to see the exact same mold repainted into G1 toy Ultra Magnus (AKA White Optimus Prime), Nemesis Prime and Ghostbusters Optimus Prime.
He's actually not too fond of this figure because of the expensive price, the numerous accessories that he particularly doesn't care for, the transformation that feels overdone, the fragility of the knee joints, the paint chipping when you transform or move the figure, and the backpack. Jobby prefers the third party figures based on MP-44, such as Transform Element OP Leader, which cost less without sacrificing the quality too much
My main love is Transformers, but I also love an MG kit or 2, thanks to you. So this was a great review to see. I didn't go for the MP44 myself, but for the 3rd party "Transform Element" Prime instead. Thanks for the review. :)

Hey mecha! I think this is the best review you're doing up to this point. I rarely enjoy 30+ minutes of toy review but you can make it enjoyable. Even the product placement has a nice segway. Also gonna point out the audio difference at the accessories part that doesn't sound like it's a mistake but an additional spice instead.
Mecha surely loved his OP figure 😍 I am biased for anything Prime. Another reason why I gave up collecting gunplas. I love transformers but more importantly, I LOVE OPTIMUS PRIIIME! 😭 Don't worry Mecha. You're not alone. Most people, including me, have waited years to be able to buy our first Optimus Prime. ❤

There was a trick another TH-camr did for the knee bend, what he did was push the plastic part into the socket until it sticks in. It is Emgo if you were wondering

MP-10 was their second attempt and for the past several years, it was the definitive Optimus Prime because it’s so damn good. MP-44 is the third iteration. This was made to look more like the cartoon. MP-10 has a more blocky and “real life proportional” design while MP-44 seeks to accomplish a cartoon accurate look. I like both MP-10 and MP-44. Can’t decide which is better. MP-01 is hot garbage. Welcome to the world of Masterpiece Transformers Collectors.

I understand that it's trying to be cartoon accurate, but I always liked the white/silver stripes on Optimus' truck mode. It just feels incomplete without it. I really do like the figure either way.

The reason he was named Convoy is because Japanese kids found it difficult to pronounce and remember. Since 2007, Takara-Tomy uses the English name now (the Japanese dub of Transformers Animated made fun of it during the next episode segment for "The Heroes are called Autobots"), including the G1 version, except for material aimed at adult collectors.

MP44 is okay, too bloody expensive though.. I may get a knockoff of just the bot. But the third party alternatives that came out around the same time are my jam. Magic Square and TF Element both made excellent masterpiece alternatives.
