Just finished restoring a free HMR215 with a badly cracked deck and a broken off plastic engage lever on the transmission. Had to make a new lever from aluminum and after using a die grinder to carve out all the cracks I used 5000psi JB weld to repair them. I,m surprised you did,nt clean out the fuel system when you had the gas tank off. The price of parts from Honda must have hurt.I was lucky that my wheel system only needed cleaning and lube.
The cracks are usually around the left front wheel I have found. Normally from people standing too hard on the deck when pull starting. It usually the ones that have the blade clutch so the pull start is done on the side not on the handle bar like yours. Good job on this mower.
This was a little help for me , but the Husqvarna rear wheel drive I worked on had been sitting outside for I don't know how long and the rear wheel drive was all rusted up when I had too take the rear wheels off and tear it all apart and sand and wire brush it and oil the fire out of it . Now it works - but I spent more time on the rear self propelled part than I did the getting the Honda engine running . I think that somebody on this particular Husqvarna mower let it initially let sit outside and when it quit running just let it keep sitting out . It's a 2009 model and all the mower looks new - which shows no wear on the drive system underneath . The engine runs perfect after the carburetor cleaning . It'll make somebody a great mower ... thanks for your video - your a great help to a lot of us .👍
so, at the 24 minute mark, you show the guard moved aside. I likewise have the two bolts near the blades removed. The bolt you mention as stripped is also stripped on mine but I assume I'll be able to rotate it as you have. But, you don't show anything about removing the bolt behind the drive wheel. I have the bolt out but there's a sleeve left behind. I'm wondering how to deal with that. I've rapped it fairly hard to slide it out but no movement. Does it go all the way thru and need to be forced out or does it only go part way thru and I need to just apply more pressure to the guard?
I have to say this is the best small format mower! Although I loooove Toro mowers this one takes the "Best in Class". Super quiet, easy puling/starting and very nimble feeling. Thats one to keep. I think the 214 was the reason I got swayed by someone that all mowers are different and that started my curiosity to work on them, but this one seems to be the best.
Small Engine DIY I picked one up for free. needed pull rope and a new belt and works great now. found a bag for $40 on Craigslist. so I don't know if I'm keeping or selling it.
I'm working on an HRB215 and it looks just like your HRM215. So does underneath by the rotor blades. For doing a lot of the video handholding the camera this video still came out pretty good. You aren't like the others who have bad aim and the shakys. And thanks for consolidating your videos into one. Very informative thanks for putting this up!
I found the exact same mower out in the deserttook it to the lawn mower shop and had the carburetor cleaned out at the pan gasket replaced an oil sealother than that she works great I think I might have to replace the carburetor because I keep on spraying ether in the carburetor for it to go
We've had one of these mowers for a while...not sure where it came from, but it only had one blade when we got it. I went to buy a replacement tonight, and was really confused by all the listings for two blades. I watched this video to see what it should look like.
Hi I have aquestion, I have another Honda lawn mower, its the identical one you have in the video, and my issuse is when I crank the engine over it grinds same as what yours did, the engine brake cable mecanisum won't come awy with the brake to make starting easier the big spring with the cable, you had fixed it, how did you do that?
May I get your opinion? I have the same mower I have cleaned it like new. My problem is the brass screw in that carburetor shaft is messed up, like I said I have cleaned carb completely except for that screw, I have a replacement from Amazon, would you replace the old carb or try it? Thanks
The video would have been better if you show how the carb goes back together. Simply saying, "okay we have it all back together" kind of defeats the purpose of making the video.

Man, I admire your tenacity. I used to be like that I just had to figure out something. Most of my defeats were lawn equipment! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it runs quiet and easy to start. The mulch cut is fantastic. This one is definitely well used, but it is a keeper.

Thank you, very helpful video. Do you think you could send the link for the Honda parts online site?

The emulsion tube in the center of the carb is the problem with these as well as the choke lever being out of adjustment.
what was that name of the rust preventer that you used?

If you clean up the blades you should see a part # that you can match to an Amazon site.
What do nuts on throttle cable up on by control handle do?

Very nice! How’s it working for you?
I just got a brand new HRX model.
Your old dog sure wants play. He’s brought his rope toy twice on the video.

Buying a couple parts IS WORTH IT
Wow Québec love Canada Merci

It isn't a "fan belt". It's a "drive belt".
Just jump the valve and carry on, you can put a new one in later if necessary.
That’s some big ass rattlesnake in the shop!!!
I agree with everyone else, they are good mowers. Unfortunately after about 3 minutes I had to stop watching as your camera was all over the place.
