Game devs were so in tune with society back then, even the name Skate or Die, such an iconic phrase in the skating scene. Skateboaring was so huge mid 80's and they were quick to get this game out and it was such a good one at the time so addictive
Yeah! Oh God, that loading music! I found it mind boggling back then. How on earth could they get this out of my C64! My friends with their crappy IBM PC's beep, beep sounds were even more blown away! Heheheh! ;p The game's a good one too. It was a lot of fun!
One of my favorite games! When you thought you knew everything you wiggle your joystick and you do something you can not repeat... but you still try and try :-)
You can get surprisingly close with the Vice emulator and a composite-out converter. Yes, there is some input lag. But it's not as noticeable as you might think.
A Marine Corps veteran, who became a chill skate shop owner, with a son who dominates the streets and the local pool. Can you think of anyone more awesome than Rodney the Skate Shop Owner? "Yo, dude! Skate straight!" - Rodney
That in particular! I recently took another crack at the game as a full-grown veteran gamer. The first two combatants weren't too crazy, but Lester was downright brutal!

I am 45 and I still have this tune in my head. I kid you not.
Me three!!!
Same same
I am 51, and it's ALL THERE.
@@ClickToPreview amazing how we store things from our youth so long and accurate.
The animation is so smooth... Man I still love it
Im pretty sure this game came with an actual playable sound track.

Such good times!! How I miss the 80s take me back ugh!

I instantly remembered the music and that guy’s name: Lester :) As a skateboarder, this was of course one of my favourite games
I used to run home from elementary school to play this! I wish I kept my whole Commodore 64 setup.

Me too man! One of my favorite games at the time
love the guy going through the fence :)
Yes, Lester was certainly having a "grate" time, methinks. 😁
What a trip down memory lane!
So many memories
Man I remember this lol playing on my grandma's old com64 back in 1988
did you have a monitor or tv?
This game rules!
Loved to play this game and compete with friends for high score.
In the 80's we always use to call lester Rodney Dangerfield.
Same! He looks just like him.
I'm no skater, but Rodney is my spirit animal.

Dear goodness gracious! How many times did you practice to pull that off?!
I had "Ski or die" on Amiga 500, and this game is exactly the same, except this it's about skating :)
acdc - big gun riff goes quite similar 🤔
Skate or Die C64 > SKATE3
Why does the squarewave sound similar to the Pokey in the first level?
Vihdoin video pelistä, ilman että joku amerikkalainen pelle selostaa äänien ja musiikkien päälle jotain paskaa kokoajan. Kiitos.
