Had watched this video when it came out and have had the thought about taking 1 on 1 classes lingering in my mind since, and today I bit the bullet and finally got some classes signed up and did a trial too! Feeling excited again to learn and building that kind of holistic learning experience definitely is a big help. Looking forward to more video updates from skritter too :)
There are students like myself who actually spend even more (~200usd / month), as I found the more expensive tutors more worth it personally. On a side note, your chinese is excellent. Really impressed with your accent and pronunciation. I also like the idea of mirroring that she mentions.
His set up looks tight but I’ve been going down the rabbit hole on Obsidian lately and will look into using it on a similar way to plan and track learning
I have now taken 103 classes on italki. I take a half hour morning class and I take a second class about an hour and a half later. Worth every penny!!!!
How does italki payments work Like 30min 10$ 45min 15$ and 60min lessons Is that means you pay every 30 or 45 min Can you explain please briefly I want to learn english and confused it's money thanks
How do you re-watch your lesson? or more to the point, how to you record it? Is there a function in italki? or perhaps Skype (which I could also use for the lessons) or would their be on a function on my iPad (which is what I use for the lesson) Thanks!
I'm a bit nervous about tutors (or even recorded language exchange sessions). It's no problem to get through the nerves, but I'm very hesitant (skeptical) about someone able to help with accent reduction. I haven't even chosen a dialect I want to speak and emulate (is it weird I want to read Traditional Taiwan characters but want to speak more of a Beijing dongbei dialect? Lol)
In my full chat with WeiWei (coming out later) we actually discuss this for a bit. In the ideal world, taking classes from multiple teachers at the same time can be great for providing a more robust view of Mandarin and how it is spoken. In my first year of Chinese, I had a teacher from Taiwan, a teacher from Bejing, and a non-native teacher from the United States. It was kinda the perfect combo! As for accent reduction, it's something many professional teachers with advanced degrees in TCSL specifically are trained to do (to a certain extent). It's part of the reason I would recommend working with a pro over a community tutor if the cost per class isn't an issue. As for reading Traditional characters and speaking in a more Northern accent... why the heck not!

@abdifatahaliosman8707 you pay different amounts depending on the teacher. You decide with your teacher how long your classes are.
Thanks for sharing this video. I just signed up and will have my first lesson soon!

Your pronunciation is very good

Where can we see the full lesson?
Coming very soon. Should be available in the app in the next few days, and then on TH-cam after that.
It's a bit more expensive than university classes
Good video 👍
