- In this video I make a custom wooden cross out of Cocobolo and Ash as a surprise gift for my incredible secretary Tracy. Honestly, this was a super fun and straight forward project that had no issues because I decided to draft a full size drawing for it. A to scale drawing is obserable at the 0:40 second mark. Make sure you watch until the end to see her reaction!

Beautiful design and nicely contrasting woods...good job, Batguy!
Thank you very much! I do love my Lego Batman collection!
That is a beautiful Crucifix you designed and made. Love the choices of wood you used, the perfect compliment to each other. She obviously loved it. Very well done, congratulations !!
That is not a crucifix. That is a cross. A crucifix has the image of Christ still on the cross. We all know Christ is not still on the cross.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I appriciate it very much, and yes, it has brought great joy!
Love the design of it. Elegant and simple but still a piece you will notice and admire. Very well done.
Thank you very much! I hope she loves it for years to come.
Beautiful. What it represents is truly beautiful. I like when I give a handmade gift, it usually includes some of what I did to produce said gift!😅
Agreed 100%. Nothing better than something handmade that comes from the heart.
Recommend you rise your blade a little higher. Several times during cutting your wood raised up. You should have at least 3 gullets showing above the cut. That makes the saw dust exit better from the cut. You get less burning and more control of the wood. Nice project.
That is fantastic feedback, thank you! That was a very dense and hard wood I was cutting, and truth be told - I need to get my blade sharpened. It's time.
Really elegant design
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching.
LOVE THIS!! Beautiful job!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful. I enjoyed watching!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This gives me an idea. I have a friend whom I was stationed with in Germany. Might just have to make one like this for her!
That's awesome! I hope you do, and please feel free to use my design. Measurements on the drawing are at 44 seconds in. Best of luck!
Looks amazing! Well done
Thank you, I was super happy with the final look. Just what I had envisioned.
Beautiful gift to give
By far my favorite part! Seeing her joy, because she's an awesome person that I'm so thankful to have in my life. Thanks for watching!
Very nice! I might try one similar. I’m a very amateur woodworker but a professional musician. Thanks for the video
You absolutely should. It's not a particularly tough piece, so it's perfect for beginning and mid level wood workers. Musician? Cool, what type of music are we talking?
@@theimaginationwoodshop5886 Yes for sure. My channel features shred guitar techniques and music theory. I’m also a singer so I have some new songs I’ve written that are Patriotic. Please check them out! Thanks!
Nice work!
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome work............Subbed
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the sub!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Very nice, I would have used CA glue and accelerator for the glue up, very nice project though..
Using CA glue with an accelerator certinaly been faster, but also more expensive. Unless it's going to be an awkward glue up where I might not be able to get good clamping pressure - then I would use CA. In a regular application such as this I always default to wood glues. Defintely a good option though. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
Turned out absolutely beautiful. Great job and video. Who was the band that you played there songs during the video would love to listen to more of their music?
Cody Francis is who you are hearing. He has lots of great songs, and I use many of his songs in my videos. I found him on epidemicsound.com. Thanks for watching!
@@theimaginationwoodshop5886 Thank you ya I really appreciate you letting me know who it is I really enjoyed the songs and would like to listen to more of them. He’s got a great voice and great music.I’m definitely going to look him up. Keep up the great work.
Very, Very Nice.
Many many thanks.
Very nice cross. Is the drawing available for use?
I don't have plans posted, sorry. You can see all the necessary measurements at 44 seconds in. Thought about only after I messed up my initial drawing.
Wonderful concept, beautifully executed with a stunning result. Such a nice, personal gift. However...the light colored wood is maple, not ash.
So I'm glad you said that. I have multiple pieces of ash and maple that I got in a mix pile that I use. However, looking at it in person, I'm 99% sure it was one of my pieces of Ash. I could be wrong, but love both species of wood. Thanks for watching!
@@theimaginationwoodshop5886 45 yrs of experience tells me it is not ash. Ash resembles oak. It is an open porous wood while maple is closed grained and smooth. Best wishes!
Ficou muito top
Eu realmente gostei disso! Obrigado por assistir!
Would you be willing to send the temples
This was basically a one off project. I'm terrible about saving designs, but you can see the full drawing in the video. Sorry.
