    You know what mate, that’s making memories with your dad right there! , it might not seem like it now.... I love messing with my car, even simple things like changing bulbs my dad would be out helping and telling me what to do etc just some father son time... my dad died when I was 26 , I would do anything now to have them moments again. I’ve a 9 yr old son now myself and I’ve bought a black fn2 type r “Sunday car” so we can make similar memories I had with my dad. Thanks for the video lew it brought back some nice memories for me 👍🏼

      Hi mste, nice one. It might be fine pal. Just get it running at idle for a bit first and see how it runs. Pop some air in the tyres and check the fluids. Just primary stuff.

    When you change the pollen filter, Under the glove-box there is some trim to remove. It helps stop crunching up the pollen filter and getting the nasty stuff everywhere.

    FYI don't follow the steps to replace the cabin air filter, they aren't correct and you'll damage your filter. ALWAYS refer to your maintenance book. You must first remove a cover with 4 clips underneath the glovebox before you access that panel. I followed the steps in this video exactly and then had to jam my air filter in, partially damaging it. 👎

Also how much do you tighten spark plugs & sump plug???Great vid & please let me know sizes as I am a virgin service mechanic, buy the way YOUR so lucky your DAD is Awesome!!!

    • @FNLEW
      @FNLEW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Crump all really good points there. I can remember using 10 mill a lot with the engine bolts but I can't remember off the top of my head about the spark plugs. I'm sure a quick question to Google of "fn2 sparkplug size" would hopefully find an answer somewhere. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I completely appreciate how luck I am. • @FNLEW
      @FNLEW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Crump v power is very highly praised and I do recommend it. I personally use BP ultimate as it's literally a minute away from my house and it's still a well known reliable fuel brand that I'm using consistently. Just stay away from supermarket brands and it's also been proven you save more money in the long run from using performance fuels compared to standard fuels. Plus they look after your engine mechanically of course.

    • @FNLEW
      @FNLEW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Crump haha if I remember I'll ask him but all I can think of is if there's been any kind of seizing like if there's been rain and metals have reacted to water that there's more friction when things move after a period of time.

  • @DJCrisisUK
    @DJCrisisUK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tbf you didn't do anything so to call it what you did was a bit misleading,still liked as was useful but if you claim to do something don't film someone else doing it, that's an instructional video

    • @FNLEW
      @FNLEW  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DJ Crisis UK thanks for you're comment mate and I understand you're point. My main focus of this video was to show someone doing it in a home situation and not necessarily in a garage.
      I would have done more myself but 1. I didn't know what I was doing enough to teach anyone so as you see in the video, my dad (a mechanic) was teaching me (and average guy) how to do the service so that people could relate to that.
      2. Someone had to film and trust me I'm a better mechanic then my dad is a camera man so you can imagine the results. Plus we were on a time limit to get it done in the morning.
      But I feel, as I hope some viewers could feel, that I could now do the whole service myself. But next time I'll do my best to show more DIY in that aspect☺️

    • @OochPinnock
      @OochPinnock 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DJ Crisis are you for real? what do you expect him to do? change the title to "Servicing my own car (with the help of my Dad)". The guy makes a great instructional video which will help a lot of people and all you can do is be pedantic about it? He deserves a medal for getting it on those ramps alone - Ken Block would probably struggle to do that sh*t. FNLEW - It's helped me a lot, ignore the pedants and keep up the good work.

    • @DJCrisisUK
      @DJCrisisUK 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alexander Pinnock seriously, the only thing I criticised was the title, the video was good regardless. The straight black and white fact is he didn't service his car, if you can prove me wrong then by all means go ahead, I'm sure you can't because it's recorded. Point out what error I made in my comment and if by some miracle of god you manage that I will surely be surprised.

    Never use Synthetic engine oil for a Honda. It will glaze the bores, and the engine will start to burn oil!

    I used some planks of wood rested on the first rung of the ramps to get my BMW up a similar set of ramps. Another tip is to use some old rubber car mats under the metal ramps. This stops them sliding on concrete etc.
