reading that topic is just horrendous. "10th person", and my brain go "oh, since the prison was built", then I read "so far in 2023". We're in month nine of the year, and the prison has claimed ten lives.
What I also hate about all of this is how much legal protection cops have. This makes it easy for cops to get corruption because they feel they can get away with police brutality. The way jails are treated is also disgusting, the cells shouldn't look like they are rotting from the inside out.
Force the judges, DA’s, and police officers who throw people into these Hell holes to spend a week in there. I guarantee the conditions will change overnight.

Democracy now needs to investigate Silverdale jail in Hamilton County, TN. The conditions were just as bad. Raw sewage running through the cell an inch deep. No matress, no sheets. No Quran, no rug, no kufi. Two phones for twenty men in a cell with 6 beds. We slept on the floor and flies would bite me constantly. I came out covered in sores, ear infected, and feet rotting like i had been treking through the jungle...
My bond was $30k. I had to get out on my own recognizance. I did not have two pennies to rub together. Finally, after 1400 long, agonizing days, every charge was dismissed. Won’t He do it!
All these families deserve answers. This is disgusting, and there is no reason to have people living in such conditions. There is no excuse for having to live like what we are seeing. A lot of black folks have learned to become reserved in their responses, and hide their legitimate emotional response in order to avoid being inaccurately labeled as simply loud and angry, and therefore not worth listening to. We need to start demanding prison cameras just like body cameras officers are now wearing, which has helped us discover all the abuse and illegal measures officers use to control an offender. I’m convinced he was murder by the prison system 😭
