Gotta love how quickly Grievous responds to Dooku's criticism.
"Stop using standard attacks, use the unorthodox!" *Throws the lightsaber, catches and swings with his foot to gain more reach*
"Control my center line." *Swings downward, forcing Dooku to sidestep*
"Faster, destroy my focus!" *Rushes in with a quick flurry of attacks*
"You're holding the saber too tightly." *Instantly eases pressure on the hilt*
Gotta say, he's a brilliant student

Fun fact many don’t know about:
Ventress’s red blades belonged to Komari Vosa, one of Dooku’s former Jedi apprentices. She left the order in anger and was captured by an Outer Rim criminal cult called the Bando Gora. There, she was tortured, fell to the Dark Side, killed her captors, and became leader. Dooku hired Jango Fett to both neutralize her as a threat as well as test him to see if he was worthy of being the clone army’s template.

@@grimtunes3527 1) Mace *is* objectively below Sidious. The only reason he was able to gain the upper hand in lightsaber combat is because of Vaapad, a style which feeds off of the opponent's negative emotions. Dooku is cold blooded and emotionless in a fight, hence no Sith eyes. So Vaapad is not effective against him.
      2) Dooku already did beat Mace:
_In the history of the Jedi Order, only two opponents ever overcame him in battle. One was Master Yoda, who was said was the Order's true master of lightsaber combat. The other was former Master Dooku, whose own fighting style was archaic, yet stunningly effective._ - *Power of the Jedi.*
      3) Even much later on Dooku is still considered equal or superior to Mace:
_“Hm.” Yoda stirred again with his stick. “Then best of all would be the strongest student, yes? Wisest? Most learned in the ways of the Force?” He nodded. “Best of all, Dooku would be!” His eyes found the other Jedi, one by one: and one by one, they looked away. “Our great student!” Yoda’s ears flexed, then drooped. “Our great failure.”_ - *Yoda: Dark Rendezvous.*
_The Count’s blade was quick as a viper striking. Among the other Jedi, perhaps only Mace Windu would have been his equal on neutral ground: but here on Vjun, steeped in the dark side, his bladework was malice made visible-wickedness cut in red light. “I’ve hurt you!” Dooku cried._ - *Yoda: Dark Rendezvous.*
      4) Tyranus had stalemated Windu with a one handed grip against a two handed grip while talking casually near the end of the war on Boz Pity.

Jedi are powerful, but their strength varies with their calmness and focus in the Light Side
Employing fear, surprise, intimidation, would disrupt that focus and make Jedi get weakened by fear and confusion, making it easier for Grievous to strike them down

When they mention his death in TCW Season 7 and almost brush over it is the greatest example of that impact to me. The leader of the CIS, the one who fought two of the most powerful and influential Jedi in the order to a stand still, and sometimes outright defeated, on multiple occasions and was partly responsible for an entire galactic civil war. And then he was gone just like that. The drum beat after Obi-Wan says it really cements this feeling of dread, but then they just move on to more relevant business because they don’t know the magnitude of that death yet. But we the audience do. Every time I see that scene it always sends chills down my spine

It’s like what Sidious told Vader in a Vader comic: “Darth Maul was a loss, but Darth Tyranus was a proton torpedo. He served his purpose and was gone”
      I mean dude, Dooku was
      • a charismatic leader who can inspire THOUSANDS of systems and millions of civilians to leave a corrupt Republic
      • was Yoda’s finest student at that point
      • one of the Jedi Order’s greatest swordsman (only Mace Windu was his equal and Yoda his superior, at least prior to ROTS)
      • a master of the Force (even taught telekinesis on an advanced level)
      • when he became the Count of Serreno he became one of the wealthiest individuals in the ENTIRE GALAXY
He has brought plenty of advantages to the table, with probably one or two flaws for him
      • he’s even older than Sidious. As powerful as he is, he won’t be outliving Palpatine in terms of natural lifespan (NOT counting Force)
      • Was arguably more loyal to the cause against the corrupt Republic than he was pro Sith (depending on the point of view of either EU or Canon). He used the dark side as an Avenue of power to help him achieve his goals for power and order.

The stylized Dooku looks good in this art-style.
But when this design was adapted in the 3.D version of this show, he just doesn’t look good.
That show tried to be more “realistic” which doesn’t work because they were adapting more cartoony/stylized characters.
They changed the way characters looked like Padmé from this mini-series to the 3.D one, but they didn’t do the same for Count Dooku.
Count Dooku had a massive beard, and angry looking expression on his face, while in the movies and here, he looks calm and collected.
Also his head looked small, and his look beard was massive, inaccurate to both the live-action and this mini-series.

Dooku being a former Jedi and a cunning Sith knew it was sometimes better to surrender when at a disadvantage
He would have killed many pirates but risk being wounded by blaster fire without his saber
So he waited and assessed the situation and studied his enemies
He showed skill and escaping a cell, taking our guards unarmed, and calm head to work with enemies when Anakin and Obi-Wan were captured
He escaped eventually and came back to get his revenge on Hondo
So to his credit the show shows how much a master he was even when choosing not to fight
But yes Grievous was nerfed on purpose in canon, as they feared in making too much of a Beta Vader, which was the intention when Grievous was Made anyway

The scene with Dooku sparring with Grievous is one of my favorites in any live-action Star Wars project. You get a sense of both characters and how their relationship; you see how devoted a student Grievous is, and what sort of teacher Dooku is. It doesn't paint either in a cartoonishly evil light.

3:45 perfectly alludes to why he gets force crushed by Windu and defeated by Obi-wan (though i know this isnt canon anymore)

I would have liked to see Charles Dance play Count Dooku.

Hopefully it was released in Disney+. Maybe it's not a canon anymore(that's because not Disney but Lucas) but still it's great to see legendary show to get the popularity which it deserves
And our man Tartakovsky is still one of the greatest animator of all time.3:20 just proves it
