Found your channel after watching Dr. Chaffee interview, I was very ill, went carnivore 4 months ago and finally starting t live again. I was a very avid cyclist 25 years ago, I feel like buying a bike after hearing your interview…Thank you very much…
I saw you first on Francis Cade's channel and was impressed. Keep up the great work Sean. I have a lot of autoimmune problems and very bad guts which keep me off of the bike almost every day. I see so many cured by the carnivore diet. Knowing your story I can both ride endurance and keep inflammation down. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. Also for sharing your experience. A lot of people are in the same boat as you but don’t voice their issues about gut health because they are too embarrassed. For a lot of people carnivore or the elimination diet with absolutely minimal plant foods can be a big help to their over all health and wellbeing
Thank you Sean.

Hi Sean,
I just discovered your channel via the video you did with Anthony Chaffee. I am a 68 year old, serious recreational cyclist who doesn't race but enjoys riding endurance events and covers around 10-11,000 kilometers per year. I've done the Marmotte three times which I think you may have also done (or similar event) some time back.
I tried keto some years ago but suffered some incredible bonks on longer rides over a period of months struggling with the diet and eventually decided to give up. Recently though I have been transitioning more to a keto/carnivore diet off the bike whilst still fueling with carbs on the longer/harder rides.
Having watched several carnivore videos in recent times I have been toying with the idea of going full keto once again and your experiences have inspired me. I ride 3-4 times per week but my biggest problem is the longer weekend rides with a fast group which usually involves me hitting the wall some time after hour 2 if I don't fuel.
What I really wanted to ask is how long would you estimate that it takes before say regular 100km rides no longer need fueling?
Thanks for your kind words and looking me up. Also sharing your story. Don’t hesitate to contact me via my website for video consultation: www.Seansako.com
From my experience the old you are the longe the adaption will take. The longer you have been high carb the harder the body take to adapt
@@seansako Thanks for the reply Sean. Now that Winter is coming in Britain I will be easing off training a bit so intend to go keto and maybe even into full carnivore and just see if I can put up with the effect on my performance at times. On solo rides it's no problem because I can adjust to suit or abort when necessary. But as I say, it's the weekend group rides which I have less control over pace and distance that are likely to be the most problem. At least they will be able to tell me how my keto is going though. In the meantime, looking forwards to more great videos from you to keep me inspired! 👍👍👍

@@seansako Hi Sean, just a quick update that you and other viewers might be interested in. Four weeks into my keto experiment and things are looking very positive. After the first two variable weeks, power on the bike seems to have returned to pretty much normal. I have done several rides on the road of around 50 miles (80km) fasted and unfed on the ride with no problems. In the last week I have tested myself on Zwift and done my usual VO2max workout of 8 x 4m @115% FTP + 3m @60% FTP with no problems. In fact on most of the HI intervals I was actually holding above the usual power level relatively comfortably.
On Sunday because the weather was bad in the UK I decided to test my endurance with a long ride on Zwift and chose The Uber Pretzel route which is 80 miles and 7,800 ft of elevation. I completed in 6:15 hours, started the ride fasted, consumed no food and just 2 cups of coffee. I also made sure I drank plenty of water with High5 electrolyte tablets which contain no carbs.
No bonking in all my rides in the last month which mostly consist of longer Zone 2 apart from the 1 hour VO2max workouts I have done. No real downsides to report after the first couple of adaptation weeks and am looking forward to even more improvements with the keto diet in the future.
Oh, and just in case anyone is interested I am tracking my macros and pretty much hitting 70:25:5 percentages of fat, protein and carbohydrate every day and am comfortably able to keep the carbs down to below 30g. Hopefully I am in ketosis but have no intention of testing my ketones. Just going on feel day to day.
@@ashleyhouse9690wow. Great progress

Please turn up the volume on your videos,...lol. Thanks
Keto for two years now, and.. I was a little obsessed with "bonking" during my period between the sixth and twelfth months. I always used the same daily calorie intake strategy in every training and went after this bonking feeling again and again, which was just a terrible feeling, but I always got home, luckily .. Till I just "broke it" in a way?? .. It never came back. I've tried to find research about it, but there is totally nothing, just this fear to stay far away from bonking. So, I'm sure you can train "bonking" and never have an issue with it again under a keto diet. Just water and electrolytes on rides and keep going.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey with Keto. Yes it appears you have become more adapted and efficient at burning fat for fuel
@@bruceintentions curious what you mean by broke it?
Salt is a flex
Hi Sean
Is there any particular types of salt that you consume such as celtic or pink rock salt?
I was using zero cal. electrolyte products but then realised some of the additives were not good for me.
Yes, I only use oryxdesertsalt.com/
No one wants to know about the hard graft things take for example you didn't just start Keto on Day 1 and roide 100kms. It has taken a number of years for your body to get used to using stored fats/protein instead of carbs. Keep the message up Sean!
