If you're concerned about meat not keeping, you need to freeze it longer. Overnight in the freezer won't really give you a full freeze, even though it appears frozen. Aim to give it two nights in the freezer before you take it on a camping trip. You'll get a better result.
Thanks Scotty for your epic vids during the year. Big effort considering the arrival of the little bloke. Euthanising each individual carp is a small step in removing an increasing major problem in our waterways.
Another great video Scotty don’t worry about the cicadas I have them in my ears 24/7 also that noise you heard in the bush sounded like a male koala making its mating call. Merry Christmas to you and your family x
Just did 4 days up KV way up the shoal, even hiked up past 4 rapids, the cicadas were deafening, like tinnitus x 10 and the little black flies omfg, love australia hey. Nice vid Scott, hope to see you soon where Peter volunteers 😉😉 cheers
Cheers mate! Yeah, really appreciate you taking us along! Amazing! Have a great Christmas with your new family and a wonderful New Year! God bless y'all real good ❤❤❤❤
A Carp suggestion. There is a channel called "Fish With Carl". Carl has built his channel to 553K subscribers mostly fishing for Carp in the UK. Maybe you could contact him and discuss Carp, and Carp catching techniques and recipes. I don't think some of the things he does with throwing out bait would be acceptable in Australia, but he knows how to fish for big carp. Probably never happen, but it would be some amazing content to see Scotty take Carl fishing for carp in an Australian river. Of course there could be a reciprocal for Scotty (and family) to do some adventures in UK.
In Victoria if you catch Redfin you can release them back into where you caught them. But it's illegal to take them somewhere else and release them. They're one of the best eating fish out of our beautiful clear dams. Cheers mate 👍🐕🤠
Thanks for another incredible video mate, particularly given how busy you would be at home with the little fella. I live vicariously through your videos while I’m doing the daily grind of work, but am about to head off for 10 days myself to refresh at the end of what has been a crazy year.
I really love watching your videos. It's good to have knowledge of other countries, the beautiful rivers, stunning and mesmerizing views, mountains. Thank you brother 🙏😊
Cheers back a’cha, Scotty. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for taking us along on your camping, hiking, pack rafting and fishing adventures…from an old vet, retired in the US foothills of the east Tennessee Smoky Mountains.
Some names for carp here in Wisconsin are Mud Marlin, Septic Salmon and Mudsuckers. As you can tell, they're not exactly a prized fish here either, but some folks say they're pretty good eating. Nice waterway you were rafting on, but yes quite low. Lots of goats there. So an upcoming video with Mattsy! Those are always a hoot. Your baby son sure is a little cutie. He'll be fishing and camping with Dad in the future. Hoo Roo!
You might have a different fish mate ! ✌️ I know mates of mine over seas. eat them , they love them ! But they are taking over here in Australia big time for a long time !
@@antonibertolacci7030 - Maybe. Carp started out as goldfish. Put into large environments, they grow into large carp and became invasive in North America and Australia.
Here in the Kimberleys we are experiencing rain and the frogs calling each other together with the cicadas is music to my ears. Strange I know. Anyhow hope you and your family have a wonderful festive season. Love the new co-producer the lil man, he is growing awesomely.
Hey Scotty, thanks for the awesome videos of 2024. Take it from a lifelong kayaker, Always plan your solo trips for a downstream or with tidal run return, it’s easier going and safer if something should happen to your gear or your body. Congrats on your the birth of your son we are excitedly waiting for the birth of boy number 4 this Christmas. Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in 2025
Your videos are the perfect mix of being visually striking and super interesting, with the added respect for the land and pacing is always perfect. Love sticking these on mate, especially to unwind. Awesome work mate
I'm just about 100% sure in NSW you have to dispatch both Carp and Redfin and in Vic you have to dispatch Carp and you can relase redfin, but can't transport them alive.
Sweating bullets means to be extremely nervous or worried lol. Congrats on an epic year mate, absolutely kicking goals 👌🏼 Have a safe new year and can’t wait for the Snowies vid 🤙🏼
Merry Christmas Scotty, to you, your family and friends. Thank you and your family for the many hours of adventure, entertainment, scenery, and practical skills required to enjoy our country, cheers 🍻
Congratulations on your success! I so enjoy your videos and the way you camp and treat the land and the flora and fauna. You deserve all that you have worked for! Merry Christmas and Happy New year from Central Texas! I hope to visit all of the national parks in the US starting next year in the spring/summer. I always learn something when I watch your channel. Be careful with your meat temperatures. You don't not want to get sick from spoiled meat.
Scotty. The guys from Exo Mtn Gear used Alpaca rafts up in Alaska on a moose hunt. They have a few podcasts on it including interviewing the owner of Alpaca. Their podcast is called "The Hunt Backcountry apodcast" episodes 497, 478 and 473 with Thor from Alpaca. Pack your rifle next trip
Thank you very much for all your awesome content in 24 Scotty , enjoyed every minute of your peaceful journeys . Look forward to 2025 . Enjoy time with your new family over Christmas
Here in Denmark, pikes and perch become more and more rare, so many sport fishers start to fish after carps instead. The can actually be much fun, as the carp are pretty strong and with light gear, they give a great fight 🙂
Nice vid mate. Am liking that swag and yak. A little tip try feathering your paddle makes for improved efficiency, increased power, less wind resistance, easier on wrists and less blistering. Yep don’t return carp bury them away from the waters edge as they are destroying native fish habitat in all Blue mtns rivers. Another tip don’t eat green lamb 😂 merry Christmas mate 🎄
Mate, these videos are so relaxing to watch. All the best to you and yours over the holiday period. In regards to the carp, In NSW the same rules apply as to Redfin, not compulsory but advised to dispatch them. No matter how many are in the system, 1 less is always better. Cheers to 2025!
Another top video, Scotty. Can't wait for the vid on your trip with Mattsy. A tip for getting up and down small rapids is to tie a rope to the bow and use that to lower or pull up your kayak with greater stability. Saved me heaps on the rapids of the small feeder rivers of the Clarence.
I enjoyed this year's videos, Scotty. Can you hunt those goats? They are good to eat. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Maybe you can get a widemouth double-wall bottle to store your perishables on days like this, maybe even fill it with water if that would help temp control, then just yeah, in the placky bag.
Another great vid, Scotty. Thank you! What an awesome year you have had. Shameful to see so many wild goats in our bush. Not sure, but isn't it illegal to put carp back in the river once caught? Have a great Christmas with your family and we look forward to the vid with Mattsy. Cheers 🥂
I will gladly volunteer to come and packraft with you mate. You get to some epic places. Completely envious. I've got the outdoor skills and not bad with a camera! 😂
Great video Scotty! I've got the Alpacka too, but not self bailing. Will have to see how she goes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
My earliest memories of fishing with my grandfather was him unceremoniously throwing carp onto the bank for the birds. Claiming they choked off the native species.
Great video mate as always. Have a good Xmas & New Year. When I was in the fishing club NSW DPI told me there are no rules in NSW or ACT that state you must dispatch a fish. I don't know the wording for Redfin but Carp can legally be returned to the waters in which they were caught under section 216 of the fisheries management act. That section basically says as you did, they are already there and by returning what you catch you are not making the situation worse or better. You are not allowed to transport them to another waterway but you can return them legally as much as people will whinge about it.
Would love one of the Alton swagbags but unfortunately the cost of post/taxes of having it sent to the UK make it very expensive - will have to come and get one next year.
Sorry about the background noise in this one. The cicadas we're bloody loud!
Loʻved this video.😢 carp sadly eh look forward to 2025xxx
Would love some cold water to sit in, 35C in Kalgoorlie, and the water is 50C. Gota wait till 12 am to have a shower!
I release the invasive species on to the beach for wildlife to eat. After I end them! If any snowflakes disagree, I don't give a flying f@#$!
They bloody loud in Bendigo tonight
What was the “background noise” at exactly 5 min mark Scotty? 😂😂 squeaky raft?

An adventure with Scotty and a cup of coffee if my favorite way to start the day. Thanks for the upload mate!
Oh man… thank you . From San Diego, California, USA.

I’m so happy you dropped a video. Broke my ankle on my last adventure so while I’m waiting for surgery I can enjoy watching yours!
Hope you heal up quickly.
@@michaelhoskins832 thank you!
Nice one Scotty gotta love the self bailer I’ve got two myself now and I do get tired of emptying the one without the bailer setup.
Thanks Scotty the Blue Mountains are always special.

Another great bloody video Scotty; Didn’t even notice the cicadas in the background 👍 Awesome 💯
Cheers Scotty. Happy New Year to yourself and the family.
Scotty, I’m so happy for you and your happiness. Your family is absolutely beautiful and you seem legitimately happy. I love that for you so much.
Cicadas on full blast in the snowy mountains! Went out for a dip at cascades and you could barely hear yourself talk
Cheers right back at you, Scotty.
Stay safe and strong and get back amongst it in 2025.
Scotty im in japan atm, and your videos are making me miss home more than i should. Thanks for the vids

Literally breathtaking presentation man! Shots are spectacular
Congrats on an epic 2024 mate! It's been an absolute pleasure watching. Looking forward to 2025 🎉

It's such a shame to see the feral goats and fish ruin a pristine river
Cheers Scotty. Thank you for all the great videos. Best wishes to you and your family, I hope you have a great Christmas.
New drinking game, every time Scotty says so, have a drink.
😅
Thanks for a great year Scotty

I love watching your adventures. I would love to be able to take off by myself into the wilderness like you but I would probably die.😂
In Victoria you can release red fin as for carp it must be disposed of ..

Thanks a lot mate and Merry Christmas to you too!
very jealous!! I would love to drag my inflatable kayak and jump into a river!! I'm from Poland, unfortunately our winter is terrible :(
Scotty put some 5-10lb braided fishing line on your reels. It’s a lot stronger than mono. 🤙🏻
Top stuff scotty!

I can picture the lamb steak sweating away inside the pack raft 😂
Have an awesome Xmas Scotty! Hate the ferals in nature, always wonder what Oz would be like if no feralanimals had ever been introduced!
I used roadie for punk bands. I hear cicadas all the time thanks to tinnitus. Didn't notice them at all in the video! 🤣
