Segebaden have been making wooden pulks since 1929. Dan is the only one still making them. But he is mostly restoring minor damages on 100 year old Segebaden pulks. Thats how long they last. And after I have brutally used them through my journeys this winter, I can confidently say that they are superior in every way to a non-organic plastic pulk. They are still light, glide fantastic and hold to any beating. Everything is hand-made and a work of art. Even the cover to the pulk is hand-made only by Kim. Also all the harnesses, belts and leashes are developed and used daily by her dogs. They can of course be used for all the other activities with your dog, like walking, running, hiking, biking. The bungee like leash between your hip belt and your dog makes it super comfortable even with a dog like mine, Barr, who pulls like crazy. You can buy the full package here: segebadenpulkan.se/sv/produkter/manselar-och-midjebalten/hund-paket-baltet-line-elastiskt-koppel-hund-sele-merinoull-hals.html After my visit we came up with the idea to start a pulk building course were you or a group can come and do the exact same build as I did and craft your own Segebaden pulk which you get to keep. It is truly a unique experience. Here is the course: segebadenpulkan.se/sv/sidor/bygg-din-egen-pulka.html Special thanks again to Dan and Kim for keeping this tradition of Sweden alive. Can confirm that this is a quality product. Pulled these behind my snowmobile, lets just say that the pulk was of unkown age ,likely more than 60 years and held up fine.
Absolutely beautiful. It’s truly wonderful that there are people who still take the time to make such quality products in this age of throw away crap long may it continue 🏴
Erik, I never knew about the pulk until you made this video, what a cool and useful item I am very impressed!!!! But when I seen Barr inline and barking to be harnessed up I lost it🤣but Barr does just as good as any sled dog!! You will never leave Barr behind when there are fun times to be had!! This video made my day!!❤️
Great Job! Next week I will return to the north with some Ladies Skiing in the fjell with Pukkas and tents. as a former ong live serving mountain soldier I love to stay outside there and to listen to the sound of my skies and the pulka behind me.Great Inspieration for working with wood in a traditional way...I love to do so since boyhood and my first walking days in Shwedisch-lappland in the early 80ies. Thanks for keeping this wonderfull tradition alive!
I’m an American who’s great grandparents emigrated from Sweden that’s always been obsessed with the outdoors. What a treat to watch you work - my great great grandmother Charlotta Löfgren is smiling down on me =]
Fantastic craftsmanship as well as an awesome film overall. Must have something to do with the Jämtland air. Say hi to Kim and the dogs if you see them 💪
I cant believe it took me this long to watch this video! I know I've previously said your food storage bunker video was my favorite but I do believe thats on the change. This is absolutely fascinating and I am 100% looking into finding a way to do it myself! I love this process and the partnership, you're doing wonderfully erik!
Thanks Erik, great work as usual. Also a bit surprised that you use the word "pulk" in English? Being Swedish I of course know the word "pulka" that we borrowed from the Sami people, but of course it is good to spread the Nordic languages and heritages!
I just rehabilitated my pulk from 1970. I bought a new canvas. Ready made set from Segebaden. I also bought a sentral slide of brass. In the model Erik is making, there is no centrlal piece. Tonight I saw a person in Norway, selling the pulk for 300 Nkr or above. From the pictures - New canvas, I adviced them to up the price to 10 000 Nkr

Wow! I could see passing one of these down from generation to generation - a true family heirloom! Absolutely amazing! Now that is talent.

How are the presses heated? Are the metal forms that are placed over a fire and then inserted before the wood?
Is that pine tar you're coating it with?
Yes quality Swedish pine.
@@ErikGrankvist Nice. My home is surrounded by untouched pines and I'll never get tired of the aroma of pine tar.
Wow! Absolutely amazing craftsmanship! Is that pine tar that you are putting on the finished product before drying?
Super,brawo klass.
