    I had no idea how to measure how far to thread the string through the tuning pin, etc. This video was EXACTY what I needed, making the process SO much easier. Many thanks to you both!

    Thanks much for a very pragmatic video. I've changed strings before, but I always like to come back here and review the particulars, given I don't need to replace strings often.

    You guys are the best. I've been playing for a little over a year and had broken two strings a while back. I ordered from another supplier and the strings just never sounded right or felt right. Turns out I had the wrong strings - don't know why as I'd specified exactly what I needed. Anyway, I went on-line with you, ordered strings, got the right ones, and watched the video again to install them. So the sound is 100% better, and I look forward to visiting your shop next time I'm in Seattle. Thank you!!!

    I like the straw that Bob uses as a guide that is measured for 2 inches. Great directions you give, Pete and wonderful demo!

      Thanks! Yes, we suggest the straw in our written directions too. You can see them on this page: www.daigleharp.com/howtocorner.html

    The tuning pin for my bass G sits about a 1/4 inch shorter than all the other pins. It has been that way since I bought this Oscar Schmidt in Oak Harbor back in 1972. I was trying to see if the ones in this video had the same peculiarity.

    Was cringing when she cut the end off the string when removing the broken string. That little piece can fly right in your eye. Had a friend who had to go to the emergency room when that happened. Always protect eyes when snipping off pieces of string.

    Can you please share the details about the standered size of the instrument and what should be the standered size of length of the strings for the tuned in the perticuler scale ... what is the science behind the work

    I am wondering why she tuned it with the piece of cardboard still at the fine tuning end, and when should that carload come out?

    Similar to restring a piano. 3 turns and 2.5" cut past

    Does it work the same for changing a string on a Chromaharp?

    How much do you charge to restring the entire autoharp?

    HI, Do you have a video to show how to trim the felt to create a custom made chord bar? I want to fashion a B5 power chord bar, so that only the B and F sharp strings are ringing out. I have a standard OS 21 chord chromatic harp. I rarely use the B7, so if I could convert it to a B5 power chord, I could use if for either a B major or a B minor. Can you use one of the autoharp string guides included in the tutorial books, usually in the melody picking section, to put the felt on top of that guide to mark where to cut out the felt? Cool trick slipping a piece of paper through. The other videos show to take off all the chord bars which is a pain. Brianna is a brave girl to be doing that.

      Sorry I missed this when you posted it. We have both written and video instructions for felting here: www.daigleharp.com/howtocorner.html For other power chords, you can press two bars, for instance C and either Cm or Am to allow the I and the V.

    Is there somewhere I can find out what notes the strings are actually tuned to for a 37 string Aigle cascade? This is a big flaw with these autoharps - they don't tell you what notes to tune to.

    • @Daigleharp
      @Daigleharp  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't like to mark up our d'Aigle instruments with note names, though we will on request. Instead we provide a laminated strip which slides under the strings for identifying them.

    How often do you change the complete set.?

    • @Daigleharp
      @Daigleharp  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on how much you play, how hard etc. Average is usually about every three years or so.

    I did what they said, wish I hadn't cut off the extra, I can't get the high C and B to the highest octave now. Not happy with this video at all!
