      Me too you're not alone. Try starting out going when it's at its non peak times. The app is really helpful because now you can check from your home how busy it is before you go. That's what I've been doing at my gym. I usually know when it's not busy at all especially now because of covid. Just gotta gauge the busy pattern. Most busy times will be weekday when people get off work. Then it seems to die down as it gets later within 1-2 hours of closing time. That's enough time for a good workout

    • @tay1545
      @tay1545 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Jesuspaid4oursins Reread what I wrote, keep the same constant tension as during the exercise, relaxing your muscles at a locked out position would be putting the load strictly on your joint cartilage and bones is obviously bad. Not fulling extending a joints range of motion while doing high resistance exercises can cause poor mobility/flexibility. Locking out is fine if you aren't ego lifting with your joints, plenty of weightlifters such as oly lifters in jerk/snatch, shoulder press, lock out their joints. Like I said keep the same constant tension and your joints will be fine, it will actually strengthen the joint over time if done correctly.

    Can I just say thank you for this video... I just joined planet fitness and feel like a complete dumbass trying to use any of the machines. I met with the trainer for the new member orientation and met with him again for the prescribed workout regime, but on my first day trying the machines I looked at my list, saw the leg press and thought...nope, I'm just going to leave. This video at least gives me some confidence to try again. Why these aren't integrated into the website or the PF app I have no idea. Sometimes people need more of a complete tutorial. And yes, I know you can ask but a 90 second video saves alot of trouble. Anyway thank you!

This helps me a LOT to know the one I use at PF starts at 118.. SO with two 45's I'm actually doing 4x10 @ 208!!! Well.. that is if the one at our PF is the same starting resistance. So wait - I just did this machine today with 660lbs of plates and I was all happy but now you’re saying that I can add 118lbs to that total?! (Also what is the max capacity of that machine plate wise?)

    • @patrickk8951
      @patrickk8951 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First off congrats on that amount of weight as that is incredible. The rack does have 2 different areas on each side ro stack plates. An upper rack and lower rack. So it can hold a ton of weight. I am guessing the bottom rack can hold 8 45 pound plates on each, and I believe the upper rack holds 5 45 pound plates on each side. If that is right then you would possibly have 26 45 pound plates for a total of for 1,170 pounds just in weights if each area can hold 8 plates.

      The starting resistance is whatever is labeled on the machine but due to the angle of the press you’re actually not lifting that total weight. If you’re using the newer matrix machine which is 167lbs of starting resistance and accounting for the angle of the press = what you’re actually pushing before adding plates. If I’m remembering correctly it’s about an additional 70-75 pounds. Honestly though just count the plates otherwise you’ll be doing a lot of math lol

Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.
