I would be really interested in hearing how you divide up childcare (night feeds etc) & household chores between you & your partner - both how you did it when he was working away & how you split it now, plus how that might change if / when you go back to work after mat leave. I found it one of the most challenging aspects of adjusting to family life, trying to find a good rhythm that everyone found ‘fair’ so always interested to hear how others do it!
You’re not being soft responding to Halle’s crying ❤ it’s what us mummies are there for ❤️
You’re so right, I just remember being so different with George when he was little in order to “not make a rod for my own back” based on what others had told me! This time, I’m. Wry much doing what feels right for me/us 🥰
Thank you for your real mum content, my 2 are now 23 and 6 months. After watching you I've been putting less pressure on myself especially when It comes to breastfeeding and now I'm starting to combi feed until she's 1
Genuinely curious, do you put any kind of filter on your videos because your skin always looks kinda blurred if that makes sense?
Can ash not clean up the kitchen in the evening. I come across that you are still solo parenting. You are doing a great job
I probably don’t give Ash enough credit on these vlogs (it’s his own fault for not wanting to be in them haha), but he does loads around the house, he really does. Granted, my version of cleaning is different to his, he’s not bothered about washing up in the morning, whereas I hate it 😅 on a weekend, I leave it for him to sort in the morning and he cracks on while listening to the radio like it’s the best activity ever😂
I can’t really fault him though, he cooks, tidies, washes up, does a million wash loads, attempts the kids bath and bedtimes when they’ll let him haha. All the stuff that I do, he will also do. Naturally, as I’m on mat leave and he’s working, I’m doing more of that at the moment, but there have been many times in the past where the roles have been reversed. We’re a team in all of it and I feel very lucky to feel like that in our relationship/ family dynamic ♥️
@@HomeWithShanI think this is so true - I always say that my partnership is 50/50 with my husband, but at the moment as I'm on Mat leave, the load is more like 70/30 with domestic stuff, and once I'm back at work it'll be rebalanced again!
So glad you are finally getting some sleep! The sleep deprivation is definitely the hardest bit. My little boy is 19 months now and still wakes in the night 😣 He’s never been a good sleeper and will only nap for long if it’s a contact nap. I used to compare my situation to others but now I just see it as that’s what he needs and all babies are different. I do hope that the next one is a bit easier though in the nicest possible way 🙈 You are smashing being a mum of 2 and it’s so nice to see the realness of it as it is so glamorised by most. Thank you!!! xx
My eldest daughter has the smaller room in the house and she absolutely loves it! You can make it into a little nook for her the older she gets. So happy sleeping is improving it’s soooo important ❤
I honestly can’t believe how big Halle is looking now! I’m sure it feels like a lifetime to you but from here it’s like those 4 months have FLOWN!
My daughter’s play kitchen is in our actual kitchen so she ‘cooks’ while I make tea etc. If it was in her bedroom she wouldn’t play with it anywhere near as much. Maybe George’s could go in your kitchen if you have the room. It’s a squeeze with ours but just about managed it 😅 x
My eldest was 19 months when we had put youngest and our eldest is very much like the way you described George, my youngest however is like how you explained Halle, right from being a newborn he would only have 2 20 minute cat naps a day and would wake up every hour and a half to two hours at night and it was exhausting, he wouldn’t sleep on his own and I agree with you it as so so hard, he’s a really clingy baby, it took us until he was 11months the old to get him to sleep independently and all night, before that he would scream and scream if we tried to out him down alone, we went with the same approach as you and in the end it worked, he’s now almost 14 months and he’s still clingy and cries a lot but it’s so much easier now he’s sleeping better because at least I get 1.5-2 hours in the day where I can spend with my eldest
George and halle are so cute ❤ you have a beautiful home i have a tumble dryer but also have a dry soon from lakeland the much cheeper to run then a dryer just hate it when you carnt get washing dry x
Sounds like Halle is doing amazingly well with sleep, my little one sleeps like crap still, mainly in the bed with me and waking every few hours. I think I'll be doing some sleep training when he's old enough because this is taking a TOLL on my health 😅
Luckily my parents do help out twice a week so I'm just napping like crazy when he does 😂
Hallie (with i) was on my girls list, but we had a boy this time - so went with Jesse, which I think has quite a similar vibe!
You are doing amazing job and I sure Ash does he share. I wasn’t been critical just know how much you where looking forward to the support.
A loft bed could be a good shout if youre still worried about space in Halle's room when shes older. You'd get the extra floor space that way. X
We were set on calling our little girl Ruby and I have to say she lives up to our expectations of that name! 😂 couldn’t imagine her being called anything else! Xx
Thank you so much for talking about how you sleep trained. I feel like it's such a controversial topic. I'm in the process of attempting it with my baby because I can't function or spend time with my eldest and its so helpful to hear your experience with it ❤ xx
My 5 week old daughter has the middle name Rae. It was my Grandpa’s sister’s name and she was a much loved Aunty to my mum and her siblings. She also has my mum’s maiden name as a second middle name which is a traditional thing to do 😁
I absolutely love your videos , and watching your family life 💕 but does ash help more with the dishes and stuff aswell since he’s been back , I feel like your still solo parenting and you are still doing so much 💕 love you lots 💕
I wanted to send you a message saying thank you so much. I had my second child on the 8th July 2023 and your videos have given me so much motivation and much needed support during a really hard transition from 1 to 2 kids. You are doing such an amazing job- you are an incredible mum. Thank you for making me feel so positive too. I just upgraded my Huckleberry app today after watching your video and it’s a life changer! I’ve always loved the Huckleberry app but didn’t think about wake windows with my first but it’s a massive help!
My daughter’s full first name is Hallie-Rose! I love the name 🤞🏻❤️
Due my 2nd in April and so I'm loving seeing the reality of life with a baby and a toddler
Also Shan - where did you get George’s bedding from? It’s very cute!!
Love your excitement for the tumble dryer I so agree 😂 I recently moved and finally having space for a dryer is amazing! Just wish they didn’t cost so much to run x
New watcher here!💖I loved watching this vlog! you're smashing this, i can't wait for your next post!✨
Do you you have a discount code for huckleberry or skin and me? Im sure you did but cant find them 😂
Awwwh my little girls middle name is Rae. We had it as it’s short for Rachel which is my MIL 🥰
I still have to figure out the sleep thing at a few days shy of 11mo 😭
Do you find your dogs barking wakes up baby? I found that really frustrating x
When Halle gets bigger, I would eliminate the dresser and get a bed with drawers in the base. I did that with my son. It saves a lot of room.
Hey Shan! Now it’s been a little while since Ash has been home - how have you found it? Is it nice having an extra pair of hands?
I found it a bit difficult at first having a partner home more, you I think at first they feel like another child until they find their place in the routine or household.. it’s not always an easy adjustment!
On your stories, you mentioned doing a gift guide? Please could you do one for 4-6 month old babies?
Ps. God bless tumble dryers
I can’t choose a name for my baby boy , I have been thinking for months now and reading lists of names in several languages and I hate all the names
Pick partsss of names you like and see if you can combine them. Get a list and then when they come you maye find they look like they would suit a certainn name but also THERES NO RUSH. you can think about it after relax mumma ❤
Your doing great! Im due my 2nd baby in may im scared 😩
Why are you scared ? To have 2?
@@fairytaleviolabecause i don’t have any help don’t know how i will get through it
💜
Love your videos. You are such a good mum❤❤❤❤
