its not downgrade but different level..
u know tengen is very very very weak but muichiro is best hashira maybe number 3 strong hashira.. and tengen lowest hashira maybe more weak than tanjiro and zenitsu.. also muichiro can use mark symbol.
Simple like this:
Gyutaro vs tengen = Grade F
Muichiro vs gyoko = Grade C
Hashira vs upper moon 1 = Grade B
Hashira/tanjiro vs muzan = Grade A
Obinai says in last episode season 2 to tengen : "you only beat rank 6 but you're hurt this badly.. remember only 6".. from there it proves that gyutaro vs obinai is clear that it will be easier and faster.. but unfortunately the one who met was hashira rank 12 tengen
