3:26 first time I see a Samoan doing the sogi (similar to hongi - nose to nose greeting we use to do)

I remember as a young kid how my old nanas and gpas would do that to us and literally "breathe" on us. Even my great uncles and aunties who have passed on as well. I used to think they were tryna smell my hair but over the years I took it as they were breathing life onto us.

Well, we all have the choice to change our lives for the better and be healthy. So we can't always blame others for our problems.

Wow its so nice looking back to the olden days wen our grandparents were living in their poor time. But still they managed to survive and move along to other countrys for better futures for themselves and children. Need more video to watch its awesome looking back to the past century. Love from Melbourne Australia 😇💖👍🙌❤🤙

I wouldn't call it poor time....we just see it from a western perspective. Our people have always lived off the land for thousands of years before westernization.

Poor times?? I live in the United States right now, as far as I’m concerned our ancestors were RICH with good health and an abundance of all natural foods at their disposal. The U.S is garbage. Because the current administration haha. Sāmoa is always richer. It’s not about money or better way of life because it’s not like that here in the states. Sh*t is expensive here and toxic.

They don't owe people money live in their own land and home they own no rent yeah we came for better future that's what the oldies want they want the good stuff from overseas no poor

Poor times? You got it backwards this is the rich times we with our western culture are very poor now I wish to return to this life and give up the blue screen and social media and being ruled by the clock
Bless our ancestors that had life Sussed out

..unless the traditional tattoo was placed lower on the torso, so that it was concealed, none of the males appear to have them. Contrast to today, where it is very conspicuous, and is more prevalent than in the past.

You can see it on the man's legs at 5:58. I'm sure there are others but the grainy footage makes it less visible. Plus their ie is pulled high to cover the belly button as is customary. I do however believe that the older malofie was lower than what is more common nowadays. Particularly the asofaaifo segment on the stomach. I believe the arches were made larger to accommodate the bigger stomachs of modern Samoans. But if in Samoa you'll notice that some tufuga do a asofaaifo that doesn't sit as high.
