It is because the RTO Is not throwing light to strictly enforce the commuters to pay road tax. If time persists they will soon get back with strict enforcement of the same until then the road users are at their liberty to ply on the roads without paying attention to payment of road tax.

Hi Sir, You need to submit a copy of LTT payment, form-14 which has Tax calculation on it, form27- is required for informing RTO regarding migration of your vehicle to Karnataka, Form 33 is required to inform RTO about change of address of your vehicle & an address proof: If you are new to Karnataka, you can get a notarized affidavit stating your local address (rental agreement is not accepted by RTO.} Insurance Copy, pollution certificate, ID proof, Attach the self-addressed envelope with required postal stamps. It will take around a month to get your vehicle Re-registered in Karnataka.
12.65 Lakhs depreciated value will be now 4.5 Lakhs. Tax will come around 75-95K. which is like 17-20% of the depreciated value. Also, 40-45% of the initial tax that you would have paid if it had been registered in Karnataka.

an estimation only - since it's exshowroom price is beyween 10-20lakh it falls under 17% Road Tax Category, so if calculated 17% Road Tax of 18Lakh exshowoom price it comes around 3,06,000(Road Tax) approximately! now since it is 10-15yr old it comes under 45%-25% category, so on an approximation if we calculate 30% of 3,06,000 is 91,800/- Road Tax & Other formalities around 20-25k, so it would be around 1,25L +/- approximately! Hope you have an idea now about buying it or not, but make sure there is no hassles with documents and car condition!

I don't think it works like this, rules have changed.. Karnataka government laws mandate vehicles staying in Karnataka for more than 30 days to pay lifetime tax in lump sum, and then withdraw the balance amount from the government of the city where the vehicle was registered earlier..
