I'm personally not a fan. Sometimes he shares he interesting thoughts, but most of the times I feel he gets stuff wrong/ doesn't understand something/ he is fanboying a little.

Some old Leicas go for insane prices. Like the Leica 0-series No. 122 went for $2.97 million at auction a couple years ago. They’re one of the few camera manufacturers whose products go up in market value over the time of ownership (like I could sell my M4 I bought years ago for hundreds more than I paid for it).

I love my Leicas, and I am prepared to pay for the hand-built quality of the cameras and lenses. I am certainly enamoured of their simplicity of control and user experience. But you have put your finger on my main beef: the accessories seem unnecessarily expensive. It costs £120 for an SL2-S battery and £105 for an M10 battery which, as you say are made in China, probably alongside much cheaper knock-off batteries for other brands. And good luck buying a third party battery, as they don't exist. Even the plastic body cap is £30! Ah well, it is what it is, but not all Leica users are millionaires. At least I am not forced to buy Leica memory cards. Lord knows how much they would cost!

Usually, the camera bits aren't my thing despite having briefly toyed with photography. I watch and thumbs up them out of respect for Brandon and the clear effort and love he puts into them. However, this video I really genuinely appreciated, the shots around Vancouver brought back so many good memories, and Madison's positive attitude never hurts a video.

Ups in Canada from my experience has never been bad
It's Canada which had notoriously bizarre post system. Also, he rented it from a 3rd party so that doesn't reflect its value. Additionally, the shipper probably had to pay a good amount on insurance.

Hi Brandon, firstly thanks for operating such an informative (and entertaining!) channel. I'm primarily a Nikon shooter (but I do carry a Leica Q2 as a point and shoot) but I'm contemplating buying the SL2-S with the F/2.8 24-70 lens. I'm covering the national strike and other unrest in Medellín, Colombia, so I am considering the SL2-S instead of another Nikon Z6 with a F/2.8 z24-70. (I've been using a Z6 here, and it is certainly a capable camera but in terms of durability, there does not seem to be anything tougher than the SL2-S.) It looks like I'll certainly be sacrificing the speedier phase-detection AF on the Nikon, and covering demonstrations and unrest here is no so different than shooting sports--with the variable of sometimes having to dodge rocks, tear gas canisters, etc. Thanks again! i was impressed with the Leica plant in Wetzlar
due to a trip for work i was in Wetzlar and my local contact (which had 2 or 3 Leica) decided to show me the plant
its a pretty cool place and i am sure someone like Brandon would love it there
for me, as someone that doesnt own any dedicated camera, the most interesting part was the view of the production
and the "exploded" camera bodies and lenses on display
after seeing that im am not surprised to here such prices

Lithium is dirt cheap manufacturing cost of a battery that small does not exceed 10$ and I'm being generous Leica only charges that much because they know you can't buy it somewhere else and they know you can afford it.

3 years ago i was in the Leica factory for mine 50e birthday and they included a Leica musea inside the factury.I got a VIP tour through trough the factory and it was absoluty stunning.

I suppose this channel isn't the format for this, but I would love to see what cameras from different price points look like. For example, would a camera setup half the price look far worse?
No. You can get fantastic full frame cameras for $2k-3k, and that's with a decent kit lens. At $1k to $2k, you can get some pretty good APS-C cameras. With anything, after a certain price point, you're paying for a 1% performance gain over something else, and that's ignoring subjective preferences. Also remember that lenses will end up costing you more money than anything else, and good lenses don't depreciate in cost over time.

I will say that I have always been kind of interested in cameras. I love these reviews as it gives me more of an idea of what I would want in any camera so it makes me much more informed as a buyer.

I live these I'm picking up tidbits of info but still nowhere near being able to get a reply nice camera for taking pics of say the day at BBQ, or wildlife shots in winter/summer always been interested in photography.
but what's kept me away is the overload of which camera for which type of photo it's like need 5-6 different cameras and lenses.
Loving these keep them coming I may one day have the knowledge to comfortably get a nice pro camera to pursue passion project.

The photos have an almost muted and pastel quality which is really nice. Not overly vibrant or contrasted, just sort of pale yet colourful.

One thing about Leica's that really attracts me is the physical shapes of the lenses. They are so beautiful and the accent colors are just perfect. It's like some incredible mixture of boxy and yet modern and sleek at the same time.
But yeah the prices are not worth it for me personally. Panasonic is more my forte, and right now I'm with Sony A7c for the unmatched 4K face tracking.
You would never use the included strap? I've never heard of somebody buying an after-market strap for their camera when one comes with it. What's wrong with it? Not blingy enough?
