Colbert is so intelligent. The way he knows about the painting of St. Sebastian and the Zulu wars just off the top of his head. I'd venture to assume that the VAST majority of people wouldn't be able to talk about either of those things, let alone both within a 5 minute interview.
@@KatherineDavisNYC Guests talk to segment producers about topics, or do a "pre-interview", so that things they don't want to talk about aren't brought up. I highly doubt those little details were even brought up to the producer, much less given to Stephen to research beforehand. Whether is knowledge is based on his Catholic upbringing or from a film, the fact is he can retain and recall those things. That's intelligence.
That is cool as hell he is that free. To be himself.

Many many Moroccan (probably others too) Jews name their kids after living relatives but either not the direct name or not adjacent generations (like a kid after his grandfather for example). I think it’s much nicer because the relative gets the joy of knowing the child named for them :)
