Bill Maher and Harvey Levin randomly riff on the Alec Baldwin case, Harvey’s 9-11 documentary (there was an extra plane), the generational differences at TMZ, when Harvey’s staff realized that he’s older than chips, the concept from Real Time of the national divorce, and Harvey’s heartbreaking, never-before-told story about why Cher is his favorite celebrity.

    C. 1992 I worked at a messenger service that did court filings, and we rec'd calls 24/7 from atty's, including Harvey, to pick up filings. Like at 11pm on Saturday night at home, a time that only Harvey apologized for calling at, sending pizzas and bagels to us for doing so. There were three of us girls who took the calls (we were 18-19 yrs old) and on Valentine's Day and our birthdays he sent us yellow roses and candy. Just to be nice. Very professional. Best wishes Harvey, long live Levin!

Bill totally missed the point that Harvey made about his generation saying "don't trust anyone over 30." Harvey was talking about his generation's attitude to the "Greatest Generation" that fought WWII and got us involved in Vietnam. I've always liked Bill, but there are times on his podcast where he could stand to listen a little harder to his guests and not be so in awe of his own opinion.

She and a few others (Joan Rivers, Elizabeth Taylor and a few others) were pretty well-informed about AIDS through medical pros and not what what the media was putting out there. What I'm surprised Harvey didn't talk about is how many same sex partners at the time were blocked from seeing their partners in hospice (or the ER), were screwed out of the will, being thrown out of their homes, but over time, laws were passed to prevent that from ever happening again. I'm sure Harvey had to put his suit and tie back on, dust off his briefcase, and go to bat for some of his friends in that situation.

Anyone who was "of age" in 1987 knew that AIDS was random, and was a death sentence. I lived in Miami then, and was very aware (as a heterosexual) of the many factors (anal sex, promiscuity, sharing needles, sharing bodily fluids, etc.) that changed one's odds but were not guarantees for or against. And I have probably known ten people who died of AIDS, so I can only imagine Harvey's pain.

Not a TMZ fan, but I'm now a Harvey fan. This was a delightful conversation to watch, and the fact that I cringe at using the word delightful should tell you something. But it's kind of what it is.

I have to say I took my mother to see Cher a few months before she died and we made eye contact and she smiled so sweetly. She's a good person.
I actually took my mom to the politically incorrect show in San Diego during the republican convention and we both met Bill, who was also very sweet.

Great interview. Although, Bill's immediate reaction after hearing Harvey open up (apparently for the 1st time) w/a heartbreaking account of his own personal trauma, seemed to showcase his difficulty w/serious visceral emotional moments.

That's what comedians do. That's why they are comedians. Much of it comes from pain and trying to divert it in others and in themselves. They are the household jesters.. lightening the mood since early childhood, or at least trying to :/

However, when you Wake up to realities of the World the construct of This Play...Everyone gets to marinate in maturity. Possibilities exist every new day. Love Club Random🙏.My daughter has for years verbally given me 'shit' for being 20years older and knowing in a harsh blaming way without any understanding of how she excuses herself........It is boring when its on going for ever, ...... Even George Clooney said as an actor on set for 40 years, he would always open the barrel (After Armorer handed it Off) then show it to his Co-Star he'd be pointing it at, to see that it's empty - then even triple check by firing a blank into ground! So you actually do this - - so foul play is avoided !

    • @sheefree

    • @WISDOMvsKnowledge22

@@sheefree so if that was a high integrity protocol set - then why did the producers - have half the crew do a walk-out, claiming hazardous conditions; just hrs before the incident ⁉️

10 minutes in and Bill has totally missed Harvey's point twice! (a) Bill missed that Harvey was accusing the girl who was the armorer on the "Rust" set of justifiably charged with manslaughter (BM thought he was talking about Alec), and (b) Harvey was blaming the WWII generation for Vietnam and Bill mistakenly thought he was blaming his own Boomer generation. Bill, pay attention!

    • @jimchik
