Oh man I really love every aspect of Tomi's voice. I mean the guy does the best death growl I've ever heard and his clean singing is the most consistent and elevating that has ever come to my ears... amazing! ... and Esa is one sun of a gun as a songwriter, they're just so unsoppably great and with every album they get even better... ok gotta stop my man-crush now...
Saw then ten years ago in México City... lights went out about 5 times, and they kepto coming backon stage. Been waiting all this time to see them again. Will do in september. Yesssss!! Tomi´s growls are amazing.
I was in total shock the first time i heard this song back in 1992, it paved the way for the love of medalotic metal for the last 30 years. It don't get any tougher than this song 🤘
It is kind of funny thought how most of those people have come to hear House Of Sleep and such and then they play their old stuff... Some of em seriously seriously dislike that heavy stuff. But no matter. It is great they show up on gigs.
How can you say he is a bad songwriter when he co-write some of the (according to you) best songs. Koivusaari wrote a lot of the first record, Tales was Esa, Olli-Pekka Laine and Mårtenson taking the lead but Koivusaari writing two of the best songs. I think Laine is the unsung hero of classic Amorphis and is what is behind Barren Earth feeling the early Amorphis vibe.
@AlucardsQuest Well on their last gig they played "Northern Lights" from "North from Here". I'm sure they would have sometimes played the old stuff, but Ville does not growl. At all.
@chezequerz It was okay, I don't recall there being any stand-out tracks for me on that one. But it's about as good as Amorphis' The Karelian Isthumus.
Amorphis should ONLY play the stuff from Disment of Soul demo to Black Winter Day EP. This is awesome. They aren't totally lost afterall. Wish I'ld been there then. KEEP THE OLD-SCHOOL KULT ALIVE AND KILLING \,,/
Current lineup should redo the first two albums. Jousten is so much better than Kouvisaari. Although Kouvisaari has a magic to his vocals which work with the style. But overall I prefer Jousten.
@chezequerz Amok is okay, I could never get into the change in vocal style. Especially since around that period I was really getting into death metal vocals.
@AlucardsQuest Frankly the only song other than Northern Lights which they played anyway i wanted to hear was wings, Amok is just a better album really that's why they did 4 songs off of it.
ami em gusta amorphis y children no el hagan caso a todos mis compatriotas es una lastima q haya aun tanto animal en Mexico cuando los headbangers deberiamos dar el ejemplo ¬¬

Well, you definetely proved me wrong with your superior intelligence and flawless reasoning, good job!
Glad their not like Sentenced, who refused to play anything off of their first 2 albums. Respect to these guys!
Their best album. Lesser folk. More death-doom.

they were better at this time than today
yeees I don`t don`t understand when they argue about "witch is the best amorphis vocalist" why don`t they count Koivusaari in :( I like him too

koivusaari was without a doubt the best Amorphis vocalist ...

Wish I'ld been there then.
