Unlike classic Star Wars, The Acolyte is a bummer: the characters are moody and disgruntled, the settings and color scheme is shades of drab. Zero cleverness and heroism. The Acolyte is an expensive, poorly conceived vanity project.

I may be called out for this but if we went back to 1986 and gave say Stuart Gordon the title "Lesbian Space Witches", about $20m, Barbara Crampton, Julie Strain, Brink Stevens, and Jeffrey Combs; wouldn't we have a far more entertaining product than this?

Joseph W. Sarno could have taken the title "Lesbian Space Witches," hired a bunch of 80's porn starlets to act in it and made a more entertaining product.

The reason they have turned the Jedi into "The Police" is because they believe it obviously makes them the "bad guys". It's just more social commentary from a certain political view.

Really enjoyed the show today! Looking forward to the Zach Ward interview. I used to watch the Titus TV show with my family way back when and he was great in it.
a show writer tweeted that they in part didn't have the budget to include the Kelnaca fight scene shown in previews. Another tweet showed interview with Amandla saying Mae was supposed to be snared in the rope, but Manny (Qimir) wanted to get snared on the rope instead. How would the story fit for Mae to get snared in the rope? The writing is so bad, of course we are blatantly led to believe that it is Manny. Manny is too tall, but Jodie is just tall enough in comparison to Stenberg. The "stranger" is also wearing only one tattered wrist band, similar to the ones we saw Mother Aniseya wearing. i think we could be a bit misled on size and stuff because the "stranger's" stunt double in this episode is Lu Junchang. The right arm is pretty toned which doesn't fit either Manny or Jodie, but could for Lu if he remains in costume during fight scene or Jodie, since Jodie has had some pretty ripped arms. I also felt the neck on the stranger was black with some skin sheen not fabric.
I think the twist of the show is that it is an imposter Sith, not a real Sith and the person impersonating the Sith in the latest episode is Indara
Smylo Ren is clearly the leader mom since they were so incredibly more powerful than eight jedi. Only a diverse female could be that powerful in Disney.
possible/prediction. in the last episode of the a(nother)-crock-lite, Mae redeemed herself by self sacrifice to save her twin...and become the "first" force(d) ghost..thus (retcon-ing)creating the phrase "Mae...the Force be with you.. always" because as Mae expired Osha says: Mae..the Force be with you...always.. if wrong..who cares. stupid is easy. also, in this episode "they" killed the "dog" off screen...this juxtaposed with Sol splitting the flying insectoid creature into twins is very odd.

While I agree that the Skywalker family should be the main focus of the *_Star Wars Universe,_* other stories beyond the Skywalkers can also be told, if done well. Case in point: *_Knights of the Old Republic_* had characters and stories that I'd put right up there with the original trilogy.

HOTD is missing the witty banter, the gore, the nudity... The realism and grit of the original series. They totally neutered the Blood and Cheese scene.

I have to disagree with you guys on a couple of points. I think that Star Wars could be done on the TV, if Disney didnt own it and it was done by competant writers, actors and show runners. The Clone Wars animated series serves as a good example, I think it was a very good series!
Under Disney, Star Wars has been mismanaged and oppurtunities squandered at almost every production (I did like the two spin off films).
I agree that Star Wars is the characters but it is also the setting, the characters are an extension of the factions and groups that operate in the universe, their successes, failures and falability. I dont know what your guys opinion on the prequels are but I am a big prequel defender, they have flaws but the positives they brought to the Star Wars universe massively out weighs the negatives.
Side note - I think the yellow lightsabers stem from The Old Republic MMORPG game, The MMORPG was a spin off from the Knights of the Old Republic games (which were great!). The MMORPG was a so so game but I am not a fan of MMORPGs. The Old Republic introduced a third faction in conflict with the Jedi and Sith that had yellow lightsabers, I forget what they were called. Also The Old Republic trailers are some of the best Star Wars cinematics I have seen! search them! "Return", "Hope" and "Decieved" are my favourite of the six trailers.

Hollywood on the Rocks, Film Threat's weekly "news" episode, yet they don't give a single second to the out-performance of summer kick-off film "Inside Out 2".. All you talk about is yet another Gina Carono update and (oh, surprise!) more bashing of another TV Series. And another. What happened to FILM Threat?
Whether you like/acknowledge it or not, IO2 is crushing the Box Office and I expected more coverage on this topic given your reputation, regardless of who's brand it is. I'm not big on the film either but you gotta give credit where it's due.
Rather than applauding successful cinema, you spend your precious time bashing TV Series and complaining about the same things episode after episode. Where's the Positivity and Optimism??

They bloody review films. They don't focus on box office charting, especially with IP they are personally invested in like Star Wars. If you want that, there are a ton of other channels doing just that. Imagine thinking you are the only one that knows what Film Threat should be. No entitlement here, it needed to be said. They already reviewed these episodes two weeks ago when they initially saw the first four episodes. This is indulgent click-baiting.
They review films, yes (sometimes), but they also cover hot news stories. I expect a film-focused TH-cam channel to talk about relevant news topics related to Film and IO2's Box Office numbers is that. I don't love Disney at the moment, but you can't deny they're doing great things for theatrical at the moment. But no, instead you hate watch a shitty TV series and complain about it every other day. Ridiculous..
