Exploring the Acquisition of British Citizenship for a Child Born in the UK
In this segment, we'll delve into the process through which a child born in the UK can attain British citizenship.
It's essential to understand that simply being born in the UK doesn't guarantee automatic British citizenship for a child. Since the enactment of the British Nationality Act of 1981, birth on UK soil alone doesn't confer British nationality. Instead, a child's eligibility for British citizenship depends on the circumstances of their parents.
British citizenship is automatically conferred upon a child at birth under the following conditions:
If either the child's mother or father is a British citizen at the time of their birth, or
If either the child's mother or father is settled in the UK, indicating that one of the parents has obtained Indefinite Leave to Remain or Settled Status under the EU Settlement Scheme.
It's important to note that failure to meet these conditions at the time of birth means the child will not automatically acquire British citizenship.

You omitted Irish. If any of the parents are Irish then the born child automatically becomes British too
I lived in the UK for over 20yrs had 3 kids and none of us has a British passport. Unfortunately it's just too expensive and not that easy to get, even for the kids. So we left and now live in Canada
A British passport is only £74 lol
lol yes if you are already a British citizen. lol
@@ataurusqueenofzion916
How did you moved to Canada
@@ataurusqueenofzion916 if you are british then yes but if you have to apply for naturalisation it becomes expensive £1200+ for a kid and much more for adults so yes, it is expensive!

In order to have a British passport you first need to make an application to become a citizen by neutralisation and you will also have to take a life in the UK test. To become a citizen is what expensive not the passport. Living in the UK doesn't make you automatically entitled to have a passport, do try and seek advice from Citizen Advice it free. All the best.
Use me a dislike button. Absolutely waste of time. Nothing new here
If the father had a PR card (before Brexit) in the time of child's birth is the child British Citizen? Our son has British Passport, does it mean he's British Citizen? How can I find out his status, please? Thank you.
Child can get after 7 years but parents can’t get if they not meet minimum income policy they go on 10 year rule plus visa extension time total 15 years plus if u not do any crime if u do any crime on zero don’t manipulate to people mind
The child can not get after 7 years. It is 10 years
Where did you come up with 15 years?
am intrested to know more i got my ILR after my child was born, now am a British ,please could you explain what you mean by my child to apply as a dependent,.thanks
If you have ILR your UK born child can apply to register as a Citizen
Good information. But I have one question :
For example parents eu citizens one parents having EU settlement status and child born in UK but he apply for the first EU passport. And after want to apply British passport is it possible as first passport or child needs naturalization certificate
That's a good question, one of my children born in UK other two in France but have settled status all
It depends on the length of time the child has lived in the UK.If 7 years or more then they qualify for naturalisation and can apply for Citizenship and passport,if in the UK legally
@@ataurusqueenofzion916hii if parents are illegal in the uk and child born in uk after 7 years they they eligible for British passport?

Fuck your rules. They’re all bypassed by arriving illegally as trafficked through Dover. You’re talking shit and should be banned
What's do we need to do to get the British passport, all of us has settled status (indenfinate status) but only one child is born in the UK all other outside
British Citizen is next. But you need money to do that. Then for you child born here, it depends. If you were settled before she was born, you only need to apply for their passport. If she wasn't born before your settled status, you've got to pay for naturalisation fee.
Good Luck.
@@chomyforu2000 thanks for the response really appreciate, all of us are carrying European passport but with settled status but the other of my child was but here before Brexit, it's after Brexit we applied for the settled status just want to know how to Go about it too much stuff on line confusing
Because your child was born way before you obtained your indefinite leave to stay, they will need to apply to be British. You are entitled to apply to be British too, but it's a lot of money. You will need to do an exam too, it's on British values and history. Good luck.
It also depend on which Eu passport you've got, if it's Irish then you're fine. You don't need to apply for anything. Irish passport is good both in the UK and in EU
@@henryemele3147 thanks my brother,we are all carrying french pali and all my kids are still under 18yrs only my eldest daughter is 17 going to be 18 soon that is why I wanted to apply for them l don't bother for mine sha but maybe later
Funny video most of time pass
Chilled?
😂
Aptly 🤣🤣🤣
And what happened to the child born outside Uk to the british citizen mother?
The child is automatically British since you the mother is British, you only have to apply for the child
@@pretty_mercedes4223and father too even if mum not British
If both parents were not born in the UK but with British citizenship and leave outside the UK you can not pass it on to your children born outside the UK

When the British went about colonising others why didn't you ask them to get out from those places colonised?
Did India ask to colonised? But the British stayed there for decades.
Did Nigeria ask for the colonised? Yet the British stayed there also for decades.
There are many examples.
